Summary:
Learners look at a photo on the concept of Canteen Day. The photo shows
teachers and students selling food and drinks. They also watch a short
animation of Mimi and her mother discussing the food that Mimi is going to sell
during Canteen Day at school.
Suggestion:
If there is a need, explain more about Canteen Day.

Suggested allocated time: 10 minutes


Summary:
Learners visit Mimis kitchen and watch Mimis mother prepare fried rice.
Learners identify and name the vegetables, eggs and chicken from a basket.
Suggestion:
Ask learners to answer by saying a, b, c, d, e or f.
Allow individual learners to point out the answer on the screen.

Summary:
Learners name the different kinds of food (fried chicken, fruits, fried rice,
sandwiches and cake) brought by other students in Mimis class.
Suggestion:
Ask learners to name other food that they can bring to sell.

Summary:
This activity introduces cleanliness in handling food. Learners answer three
questions regarding the steps towards cleanliness in handling food.
Suggestion:
Discuss the consequences if someone prepares food with dirty hands, puts
food into dirty containers or does not cover the food. For example, the
person will get a stomach ache or be sick or flies will contaminate the food.
Discuss the reasons why cleanliness in food is important. For example, to
stay healthy.

Evaluation

Suggested allocated time: 5 minutes


Summary:
Learners see different people buying different food. In Activity Sheet 1,
learners match the people to the food they want to buy.
Suggestion:
This activity can be given as homework.
Allow learners to colour the pictures.
Materials needed: Pencil, Ruler

Summary:
Andy is helping to sell the food. Learners name the food that Andy is holding.
Suggestion:
This activity may be used as a review lesson before they start the next
lesson or anytime in the future.
Ask learners to name their favourite food.

Summary:
Learners look at the different kinds of food that are sold during Canteen Day.
In Activity Sheet 2, learners circle the food that is not the same from the
rest.
Suggestion:
Ask learners to name the food that is different.

Suggested allocated time: 5 minutes


Summary:
Learners see Ali eating lots of food. Then, they see that Ali has a stomach ache
because he ate too much. Learners discuss other consequences of eating too
much.
Suggestion:
Also, discuss the consequences of eating too little.
