XI SMAK RAJAWALI MAKASSAR CLASS OF 2015 IN DANGER OF
WHITENING COSMETIC IN SKIN HEALTH"

Background: Skin Whitening products containing active ingredients that can

suppress or inhibit melamine that has been formed, so that will provide a more
white color. Many beauty ads that offer products pemutihkan skin, which makes
people feel that beauty is synonymous with white skin. Thus today there is the
assumption that white means prettier or more handsome. Look beautiful have
become all things to most women, and wants it now increasingly easy, with the
advances in technology that offers a variety of ways to beautify themselves,
ranging from self-care to care in beauty care clinics. Various studies show that
55% of 85% dark-skinned Indonesian women want whiter skin. For those who are
black or brown can now be white. However, there are risks of each choice,
because of various materials for the beauty, it is made from chemicals that are
toxic.
Methods: The study used descriptive method to determine the level of knowledge
and attitude student of grade XI SMAK Rajawali Makassar class of 2015 against
the dangers of whitening cosmetics on skin health by making study based on a
questionnaire. Samples taken by random sampling. This study was carried out
from the stairs 27 April 2015 - May 4, 2015.
Results: The study was conducted on a class XI student class of 2015 SMAK
Rajawali Makassar on 27 April 2015 - May 4, 2015. This research method is done
by simple random sampling. 94 of the 250 population is obtained that can be used
as a sample. The results were obtained vulnerable respondents aged between 15-

17 years and sabagian of respondents aged 16 years as many as 50 people

(53.2%). From the results of a study of the level of knowledge be obtained the
highest percentage level of knowledge as much as 51 respondents (54.4%) have a
sufficient level of knowledge and of the results of research on the attitude of the
respondents have a positive attitude towards the dangers of whitening cosmetics
on skin health as many as 93 people (98.93% ).
Conclusions and Recommendations: The level of knowledge of students of
grade XI SMA K Rajawali Makassar class of 2015 against the dangers of
whitening cosmetics on skin health is quite the value of the percentage of 54.4%.
Attitude student grade XI SMAK Rajawali Makassar class of 2015 showed the
positive value to the dangers of whitening cosmetics on skin health with a
percentage value of 98.93%. For further research should further be able to
examine the relationship between education level of respondents' level of
knowledge. For further research could examine further is there a relationship
between the level of knowledge about the dangers of whitening cosmetics. The
government should swiftly assess objectively cosmetic products which can be
marketed so that dangers or side effects of whitening cosmetics can be prevented.
To the SMAK Rajawali Makassar, would need to be held in school counseling or
penghimbauan on siswinya students about the dangers that can be posed by the
use of whitening cosmetics at an early age.
