ABSTRACT
Putri Dwi Humaerah (A1C4 12 009). Implementation of Direct Instruction
Model (MPL) with Multimedia to Improve Student Learning Outcomes on Buffers
Topic of Chemistry Subject in Class XI IPA SMAN 9 Kendari (Supervised by
Arniah Dali and Maysara).
The research about implementation of Direct Instruction Model (MPL)
with Multimedia to improve student learning outcomes on Buffers topic of
chemistry subject has been conducted in class XI IPA SMAN 9 Kendari. This
research aims to determine how the comparison of student learning outcomes, the
effectiveness of learning on buffers topic and student responses between the class
which learn using MPL with Multimedia and the class which learn using MPL
without Multimedia. The sample of this research are students in class XI IPA4
(N1=30) and students in class XI IPA3 (N2=33) of SMAN 9 Kendari. The method
used in this research is Quasi Experiment Design with Nonequivalent Control
Group Design. The research instruments are pretest and posttest in the form of
multiple choice questions which consist of 20 items, the activity data of students
and teacher during the learning process collected using observation sheet and
student response data in the form of sheet of questionnaire responses. Based on
the analysis of the result data, we concluded: (1) the control class, XI IPA4,
reached posttest average value of 62.00, whereas the experimental class, XI IPA3,
reached posttest average value of 79.85; (2) the N-Gain with learning using MPL
without Multimedia of 0.48 (medium category) is lower than the N-Gain with
learning using MPL with Multimedia of 0.72 (high category); (3) the responses of
students in the control class of 75.1% is lower than the response of students in the
experimental class of 81.7%.
