Aviation Museum
The South Australian Aviation museum first opened in 1985. The current
hanger that you will see the planes in today was first opened in 1986. The
museums main attraction the F-111 arrived on the scene a few years ago in
2013. There are many exiting things to see and do at the Aviation museum.
You can book a tour to go inside the mind boggling F-111 or just admire the
amazing jet by walking around on the outside. You can also go inside a few of
the other planes such as the incredible Fokker F27-109 and use your
imagination to pretend you are in different aviation scenarios. You can also
listen to live transmission from Adelaide Airport, what a great way to listen
to what the pilots here in the cockpit! At the museum there are many
friendly and knowledgeable guides that can teach you some interesting facts
about the incredible displays. There are fifteen planes currently on display and
a variety of different exhibits on pilots and engines Around the main hanger
you and your children can enjoy finding Wilbur the teddy bear. Make sure to
check everywhere from in planes to on top of exhibits.

F-111
The incredible F-111 is a recently retired jet that served for a
valuable 37 years and can travel more than two times the speed of
sound! Now thats a quick plane. The plane had wings that can fold
in and out and the plane can weigh around 114,000 pounds when
taking off. Thats more than 51,000 kilograms! It is truly an
incredible aircraft. Also tours with a guide to get up close and
personal with the iconic F-111.
