The 21st century education poses challenges in the Philippine K to 12 early childhood education.
Immersed in the information, media and internet technology, the Filipino Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils
could effectively acquire the 21st century literacies through MTB|MLE and culture-based information, print,
digital and multimedia learning resources which are presently inadequate in the system.
Dawani is the Bicol word for rainbow. The proponent strongly correlates music, culture-based
education and MTB MLE to pupil engagement, learning, and achievement. The proponent integrates these to
develop information, print, digital and multimedia learning resources for the teaching of Kindergarten and
Grade 1 in Albay | Bicol Region.
This paper (a work in progress) shall present original Bicol educational songs with animated music
videos, picture books and study guides in print and digital format. Sets of jurors shall validate the songs a.
musicality, b. cultural content and c. alignment to the K12 BEC target learning competencies. This paper shall
also present interviews, correspondences, journals, observation and videos | photographs that will validate
the written and produced songs.
