3 Tipe:
a. Hormonal : kehamilan, pubertas
b. Nutrisi
: defisiensi vit C
c. Alergi
Berhubungan dengan faktor lokal => biasanya muncul pd daerah yg tdp akumulasi plak
Lbh sering tjd ps fasial drpd lingual ok mekanisme aksi lidah dan pergerakan selama makan,
mencegah akumulasi iritan lokal pd lingual
Gejala klinis GE ok pubertas relatif sama dgn inflamasi gingiva kronis, namun yg
membedakan GE pubertas dgn GE inflamasi kronis adalah, pd GE pubertas bersifat
rekurent(berulang) walaupun deposit plak relatif sedikit.
Setelah masa pubertas GE akan menghilang dan harus diikuti pembersihan plak/kalkulus
Enlargement In puberty
Enlargement terjadi selama masa pubertas baik perempuan maupun laki - laki dan terjadi pada
area iritasi lokal. Ukuran enlargement tergantung pada faktor lokal. Pada margin inter dental
terlihat bulbous. Sering hanya terjadi pada permukaan fasial jarang pada lingual. Setelah
melewati masa pubertas, enlargement perlahan berkurang, dan hilang sama sekali bila iritasi
lokal dihilangkan.

Puberty is the process of physical changes by which a childs body matures into
an adult body. There will be certain changes in your physical appearance and behavior.
Puberty occurs between the average ages of 11 to 14 in most women and around the age
of 13 in men. The two major sex hormones involved during puberty are testosterone in
males and estrogens in females. During puberty, periodontal tissues may have an
exaggerated(berlebihan) response to local factors such as plaque accumulation. Gingival
enlargement often occurs in areas where plaque and calculus are accumulated and this
occurs in both male and female. The size of gingival enlargement may reduce after
puberty but does not disappear until adequate plaque control is achieved.
Gingival enlargement often present in the interproximal area (between teeth) or the
Gingival enlargement often affects the facial gingival (outer surface) and the lingual

Good plaque control and removal of local factors (for example, over hanging restorations
