Kerrie, Katie and | work so well as a management team, we were laughing and saying last week we three all talk over each other, finish each others sentences, leave sentences half finished and all ‘know what was not said, and get things done and make decisions quickly because we know what is in each others mind, which we all agreed was quite seary!! Lauren who assists in the office on occasional days, is an experienced Qualified Child Care Educator, who has assisted me in the office for the past 4.5 years we have owner Avondale Heights Childcare Centre, so she is very ‘experienced working with our values and philosophy of CHILDREN FIRST in all of our decisions. ent, {am currently spending $10,000.00 to upgrade and increase the supply of educational toys, Sauipment and learning tools forall of the children across all of the rooms and yards. ‘The emphasis in current curriculum development on the importance of children’s relationships to ‘the natural environment and natural products, takes us away from plastic and manufactured items, so you are seeing a lot of natural materials in the children’s rooms, such as tree branches, leaves, bark, stones, logs of wood, timber toys, sea shells, colourful cotton materials to cove, ber cubbies and pinecones. If your child finds some lovely natural materials over the weekend, please feel free to bring them in. COME AND JOIN US When | visited our Centre last Tuesday, | was so pleased to meet a family member who had come to read her favourite story book to the children in her childs room. How magnificent. 'f You could arrange to join us for a short session of perhaps singing, playing a musical instrument, 2 cultural dance, wear traditional clothes from another culture, cook some food with the children, bath your baby!, hare Tai Chi moves, dance moves, read a poem......please speak to us. This is ¢ kremendously powerful gift of connection for you and your child, and also for the other children in ‘the room. My sister visited the Kinder Room in one of my Centres 10 years ago with her tent, back pack, bill, boots, sleeping bag etc and showed the children photos of her bushwalking and camping, The children were intrigued. She erected the tent and the children all had a turn to get into her sleeping bag in the tent.
