Building Community Through Neighborhood Revitalization

Habitat for
Humanity
is a nonprofit,
ecumenical Christian
organization. We are
dedicated to eliminating
substandard housing and
homelessness worldwide
and to making adequate,
affordable shelter a
matter of conscience
and action. Our ministry
was founded on the
conviction that every
man, woman and child
should have a simple,
decent place to live in
dignity and safety.

Celebrating their collaborative industry and

shared community commitment, nine local craft
breweries are teaming up to build a Habitat
home in Longmont for Vicky Reyes and her fouryear-old daughter.
The breweries will break ground on The House
That Beer Built (HTBB) home on May 18th. Two
representatives from each brewery will come out
to the build site in our Poplar Grove
development to swing some hammers and raise
the walls on the home.
Not only will the breweries help build the house,
but throughout the entire construction process

Notes from the Executive DirectorDave Emerson

At Habitat for
Humanity we
are in the
business of
taking risk. Risk
on behalf of the
people in our
community who are facing steep
odds. I want our supporters to
know your staff here at St. Vrain
Habitat are some of the most
courageous people youll ever
meet. Each day, in an
increasingly difficult environment

for land development, they are

working hard to provide an
opportunity for fantastic families who
are looking for a hand up for their
loved ones. Your contribution of
time, money, prayers, and expertise
gives us courage to move boldly in
places like Dacono where our
Neighborhood Revitalization project
is attempting things weve never
done before; in places like Lyons
where we are trying to get six
homes developed and built to bring a
small segment of displaced families

back from the flood; in places like

Longmont where were completing
another seven homes for great
families (six of them flood survivors)
who know those houses represent a
brighter future; and finally in places
like Paraguay, Cambodia, Lesotho,
and Armenia where a small amount
of our effort yields unheard of impact
in the lives of individuals facing abject
poverty. I feel blessed to be
surrounded by individuals who live
courageously through this ministry
and thank you for your support.
