FADE IN:

INT. - FAMILY HOME - day

TIM is sitting at the right end of a couch. His tall and skinny body continuously fails to sit
comfortably. We see a blank look on his face as he stares at the television. Tim's younger
brother MARK sits to Tim's left. Mark is short and chubby. He wears an over-sized t-shirt and
has a bag of Cheetos on his lap. The television is playing documentary on peacock mating
rituals.
Tim
I'm bored. What are we even watching?
MARK
(exhales deeply)
I don't even know.
TIM
We should do something...
MARK
What?
TIM
Figure something out.
Suddenly we see Mark run out of the living room and immediately return with a paper in his
hand.
MARK
Lets go to this.
Mark hands Tim the flier.
INSERT - A FLYER
A magician's hat is printed on the bottom of the flyer. Above it we see the words "Come see a
world renowned magician. Show at 6:30 on Saturday. Address is 12 Hartford Avenue"
BACK TO SCENE
TIM
Okay this sounds fun. I've never been to a magician before. Let me check if Mom and Dad want
to go.
Tim walks over to the kitchen, where both of his parents are. His mom MARIA is cutting up
vegetables and his dad DAVID is washing dishes. Tim goes up to them and shows them the
flyer with the magician.
Maria

(Shrugs)
This sounds interesting. David do you want go?
David
Sure. I've got nothing better to do anyways.
David finishes washing the last dish and the whole family walks out of the door.
INT. - cAR - day
We go to the interior of the car. The dad DAVID driving the car. MARK is staring at his phone
while TIM and MARIA are staring out the windows. As they continue to drive we see the
neighborhoods getting sketchier and sketchier. The expression of Tim's face changes from
enthusiasm to concern.
MARK
Well this doesn't look very same
TIM
Yeah. Dad are you sure we're going the right way?
DAVID
Well. I mean... The GPS says that this is the right way.
TIM
I've never heard of this area before.
GPS
You have reached your destination
DAVID
(Hesitating)
Alright kids. I... think this is where it is.
EXT. - OUTSIDE BUILDING - DAY
They walk to the address on the flyer and stand outside an old building. The building was falling
apart and looked abandoned. There was a sign that read "Magician" above the entrance door.
The family walks up to that building and TIM opens the door.
INT. - INSIDE OLD BUILDING - DAY
Inside the building we see a small room that is half full with people. The curtains are barely
being held up. The paint on the wall is pealing and the room generally looks old. We see many
people wearing odd costumes and generally dressing oddly.
TIM
(Whispering)
I think we're row four.
They sit down. TIM AND MARK give each other a look of equal concern and confusion, each
knowing what the other is thinking. The lights dim and the show begins. A MAGICIAN walks out

onto the stage. He is holding a small cane with a snake-head for the handle. He is wearing an
orange suit that is slightly large on him. He reeks of a strange odor and has a one foot high
top-hat on. He also has a pocket watch in his suit color.
Magician
Welcome to the show. I see many new and many old faces here. In any case, prepare to be
amazed by the finest acts in all of North America.
MONTAGE - MAGICIAN'S ACT
-- He puts someone in a box and cuts the box in half.
-- He pulls animals out of his top-hat
-- He appears to levitate
BACK TO SCENE
MAGICIAN
For this act I need a volunteer.
To the surprise of his family, Tim raises his hand. The magician points to him and waves him
over. Tim walks to the stage at a brisk pace.
MAGICIAN
What a brave young man! Tell the audience your name
TIM
My name is Tim.
MAGICIAN
Tim, do you believe in hypnosis?
TIM
(scoffing)
No, I don't.
MAGICIAN
(Points to the bench)
Alright Tim, lie down on this bench and close your eyes.
Tim lies down on the bench and cautiously closes his eyes. The magician takes out his pocket
watch and brings it close to Tim's ear.
MAGICIAN
(In a soothing voice)
Focus only on the sound of this watch and to the sound of my voice. Ignore everything else.
Your eyelids are starting to get heavy. The sound of the watch is washing over you like the
sound of waves on a beach. You feel relaxed and all of your stresses are gone. You have
nothing to worry about here... so relax. Just focus on the sound this watch makes.
Tim's face is now relaxed and his breathing is deep. He is in a hypnotized state of being neither
awake or asleep.

MAGICIAN
Listen to me Tim. You are now a chicken. When I snap my fingers you will get up and start
walking around.
The magician snaps his fingers and Tim wakes up. Tim has an intense look on his face. He gets
off the table and starts to walk around in circles. While he walks he keeps his hands on his
chest and moves moves his elbows towards and away from his body.
MAGICIAN
You will now go back to sleep.
Tim goes back to the table and resumes his previous state. Suddenly, there is a loud THUD as
one of the curtains in the old building falls. Tim wakes up with a jolt and wildly looks around.
TIM
BAWK BAWK
Tim jumps off the stage and runs out of the building. His parents sit in their chairs for a few
seconds dumbfounded about what had just happened.
EXT. - OUTSIDE BUILDING - NIGHT
TIM'S family is seen running out of the building. They find Tim just running around just like a
chicken would.
DAVID
Tim stop! What are you doing?
TIM
(Angry)
BAWK! Leave me alone. Don't hurt me.
MARIA
Honey we're not gonna hurt you. Now stop this and come here.
Tim doesn't respond and instead continues to run around on the street. A long chase ensues
until Mark catches him. He throws Tim on the ground and holds him down.
MARK
Stay still. What's wrong with you?
TIM
BAWK
MARK
You need to stop now.
Mark and David pick up Tim and put him into the car.

DAVID
Hold him down while I put the seat belt.
Mark holds him down while David puts on the seat belt.
DAVID
Okay I'm gonna go talk to that magician and see what he can do.
INT. - INSIDE OLD BUILDING - Night
We see DAVID looking for the magician, who is nowhere in sight.
DAVID
(exhasperated)
Where is he?!
Runs out of the building and onto the street.
EXT. - OUTSIDE BUILDING - NIGHT
DAVID runs to the car and gets in.
DAVID
I couldn't find him.
MARIA
So what do we do?
There is a long pause in the car.
TIM
BAWK BAWK!
DAVID
We'll take him to the doctor tomorrow. They'll probably be able to help.
TIM
BA
DAVID
(interrupts Tim)
Shut up!
INT. - FAMILY KITCHEN - DAY
MARIA is making breakfast. She puts an egg on the pan and starts to cook it. Just as she does
this, TIM walks in. He stops in his tracks and stares at the omelette.
TIM
(shocked)
Bawk. No. The unborn!
Tim runs out of the room and goes to his own room. We see his mother Maria go to his door
and knock. There is no response from Tim.

INT. - CAR - DAY

We see TIM in the car with his parents. They both look concerned. Tim is just quietly staring out
of the window, while he slightly moves his arms up and down like a chicken.
DAVID
Okay so the appointment is in twenty minutes. We should make it on time. Oh wait. We need
gas. Where do I fill up?
MARIA
There's a gas station on the next exit.
They take the exit and we see them approach a gas station.
EXT. - GAS STATION - DAY
The gas station is new and looks very clean. There are only two other cars in the gas station
and the area around the gas station is yellow due to dried up grass.
We see DAVID get out of the car. We see how he puts gas and we just watch David, not TIM or
MARIA. We see David get in the car and drive off.
INT. - CAR - DAY
We see David look at the back seat while driving. Then he looks at the road again. And then he
looks at the back seat again.
DAVID
Where's TIM?
MARIA
What do you mea? Oh my god. Where's Tim?
DAVID
We must have left him at the gas station.
We see the car turn around very quickly and we see it accelerate rapidly towards the gas
station.
EXT. - GAS STATION - DAY
We see the parents running out of the car and running around. Then we see DAVID focusing on
a field behind the gas station. We notice that there is a farm there. We see DAVID and MARIA
running towards the farm
EXT. - FARM - DAY
There is a red barn that is fairly tall. Right in front of the barn lie cows. Next to the cows is a
chicken den. Inside the chicken den we see TIM flapping around with the other chickens. We
see him trying but failing to fit in with the other chickens because he is a humans and they are
scared of him.
DAVID

(with teary eyes)

What is going on?
MARIA
Tim come here.
TIM
Bawk.
Together, MARIA and DAVID manage to capture Tim and restrain him. They drag him back to
the car and the car exists.
INT. - DOCTOR'S OFFICE - DAY
The office is plain white and TIM is walking around in circles. Tim is wearing a plain white
hospital gown. The DOCTOR enters the room
DoctOR
I'm sorry. I'm afraid that I don't know what the problem is. I've consulted the neurologist and the
physiologist. They both agree that they've never seen a case like this before. I recommend that
he gets plenty of sleep and that he takes some aspirin.
DAVID
There's nothing you can do?
DOCTOR
No. I'm sorry. Bring him back in a week in case he doesn't get better.
MARIA
But. But. Look at him. He thinks he's a chicken.
DOCTOR
I'm sorry mam. We've done all we could do.
MARIA
Tim. Come on we're leaving.
TIM
Bawk.
They exit through the room with low energy.
EXT. - DOWNTOWN - DAY
MARK is walking through the town's downtown. The streets are clean and the area looks good.
Its a small town so the downtown isn't very large. As he walks he notices a small flyer on one of
the shops.
INSERT - A FLYER
A magician's hat is printed on the bottom of the flyer. Above it we see the words "Come see a
world renowned magician. Last show at 6:30 on Thursday. Address is 12 Hartford Avenue"
* No admittance after 6:30
BACK TO SCENE
Mark picks up the flyer and we see him run to his car and drive away.

EXT. - FAMILY HOME - DAY

We see MARK pull up to the house and run inside
INT. - FAMILY HOME - DAY
We see MARK run into the home. The whole family is sitting on the couch in front of the T.V.
except for TIM, who is seen walking in circles outside.
MARK
Guys, I figured out how to save him. Look.
Mark hands his parents the flyer.
MARK
We can go see the magician and he can fix this. The show starts in half an hour.
MARIA
Okay it takes us 40 minutes to get there. Lets go! David go get Tim and I'll start the car.
Maria runs to the car with Mark. David runs outside and picks up Tim.
TIM
(confused)
Bawk?
They all get into the car and speed all the way to the old building. They undergo numerous
maneuvers while TIM frantically SCREECHes. They come to a fast stop right next to the
building and leave the car in the street. Mark and David carry Tim to the inside of the building.
INT. - INSIDE OLD BUILDING - DAY
MAGICIAN
(Welcome to the sh...)
Mark and David interrupt the MAGICIAN by barging into the building. They carry TIM to the
Magician while the Magician just stands there confused
DAVID
Excuse me sir. If you remember, you hypnotized this boy to think he's a chicken. He still thinks
that he's a chicken. Please help us bring him back. We've tried everything.
The magician starts to smile and with a SNAP of his fingers, Tim is restored to his normal self.
The magician looks into Tim's eyes.
MAGICIAN
Do you believe in hypnosis now?
