This letter is to express my enthusiastic support for Dr. Keith M. Cagles application for tenure and promotion at Gallaudet University. I have worked with Dr. Cagle as both a student and a colleague, and I know that he has had a profound impact on shaping my academic career, as well as my teaching career. I initially worked with Dr. Cagle during my first teaching internship with the Department of Interpretation and Translation in the Spring 2015 semester. Dr. Cagle supervised my teaching internship work, as well as provided guidance through our weekly class meetings. He was incredibly supportive as I encountered new experiences teaching in our department and working with undergraduate students. I continue to work for the Department of Interpretation and Translation as an Adjunct Instructor teaching BAI students, and I appreciate the leadership that Dr. Cagle provides for our teaching team as the BAI Program Coordinator. He is organized and leads efficient and effective meetings for our BAI faculty monthly. One of his strongest skills is communication and I appreciate that he communicates with our BAI teaching team effectively both in ASL and through timely responses to emails. Dr. Cagle is one of the most caring educators I know. He always took time to meet with me outside of class, and now as needed as a colleague and instructor in the department. It meant a lot to me that he ensured that I not only felt supported as a student teaching intern, but also challenged and received the best learning experiences possible. Dr. Cagle has also influenced my own teaching practice in many positive ways. He is one of several educators on campus that sets an example I try to emulate. I am always inspired when my own students mention Dr. Cagle as one of their favorite teachers. Students describe him as warm and friendly, but also challenging and someone who encouraged them them to strive for excellence in the classroom and in their future interpreting practice. I am continually inspired to hone my own teaching practice because of the guidance and support I have received from Dr. Cagle. He is well respected and loved by undergraduate students, graduate students, doctoral students, and colleagues. I whole heartedly support recognizing his teaching, scholarship, and service to our campus community by awarding tenure and promotion. Sincerely,
Annie Marks, M.A.
