AN AUSSIE ICON
In 1920 Bushells bought land in todays The Rocks area of Sydney
Sydney.
Here they built a seven-storey factory that housed progressive new
blending and packing methods, plus Bushells HQ. The building remained with Bushells for over 40-years, and is still an iconic part of
Sydneys story today.
Bushells continued to boom moving into New Zealand in 1937 by
personally offering every housewife on the electoral roll a half a pound
of tea, free. The generosity paid off as Bushells became a huge player
in the NZ tea market.
Today the brand is owned by Unilever a multinational consumer
goods company and is distributed in Fiji by Motibhai Group, bringing

The Chinese community of Lautoka took advantage of the special Chinese Moon
Festival celebration hosted by Prouds on the evening of Wednesday, September 14.
Being the second largest festival observed by Chinese people worldwide, the
Chinese Moon Festival also known as Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated with great
pomp and passion for shopping and food with Fiji being no exception.
While other Prouds branches such as Suva Central and Downtown Nadi have
been celebrating the event with a themed shopping night event with lots of food and
entertainment together with discounts on branded items, the Chinese community
got to take advantage of this special sale in Lautoka for the first time.
Looking at the number of Chinese customers based in Lautoka, we decided to
bring the celebrations closer to them in the city, Prouds Lautoka store manageress
Pranita Nand said.
Since this was the first time for us to host such an event, we can say it will be
getting bigger and better in future.
"We also had refreshments such as mooncakes and wines.
Chinese lecturer Guilan Chang who is a frequent customer of Prouds says she is
looking forward to the event next year.
