Background: According to data from the Department of Transportation, the
development of the number of motor vehicles in the province of South Sulawesi in
2012 to 2013 increased in each mode of transport with an average percentage increase of 5.98% annually on the mode in which the largest number of bikes motor with a percentage increase of 9.65%. The incidence of traffic accident in South Sulawesi province also increased from 2012 into 4563 the 4141 events in 2013. According to data in 2011 KLL incident resulted in casualties as much as 1,607 people, 1,861 souls were seriously injured and 3,419 slightly injured. The first hour is a very important time in the handling of the rescue of victims of accidents that can hit up to 85% of deaths. Handling is meant here is the basic life support (BLS). BLS skills can be taught to anyone.2 All segments of society should be taught about BLS especially for workers with regard to the relief safety.3,4 traffic police (traffic police) are officers responsible for maintaining the safety of road users and minimize the accident victim as stated in Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National police that showed that BLS skills becomes important to be known by the police in an effort to carry out the task that has been entrusted to the traffic police. Objective: To determine the knowledge and attitudes picture traffic policeman in the city of Maros on Aid Basic Life victims of traffic accidents. Methods: The study was a survey with descriptive approach. This research was conducted at the Police Headquarters Resort City of Maros starting from the date of December 3 to December 31, 2015. The population is the entire traffic policeman on duty at the Police Headquarters Resort City of Maros. The sample is the entire traffic policeman who was on duty in the field and at the Police station Maros. The sampling technique used in this study was a non-probability / non-randomly by convenience sampling. Approximate sample size was calculated based on the formula Slovin: 15 16 Type of data in this research is the primary data of observation, interviews and questionnaires by a traffic policeman in City Police members mares and secondary data from the Traffic Unit (Traffic) City Police mares. The data collected will be processed using the software SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) ver.17 via computer and presented in a frequency distribution table is accompanied by an explanation and analysis of the results table. Results: Knowledge mares Police traffic policeman on Basic Life Assistance for Victims of Emergency as a result of traffic accidents can be described as follows: Traffic Police with 31-35 years of age, have a good knowledge among other age group categories. Maros Police traffic police know all too well the definition of emergency, the object and the subject of emergency care as well as an initial assessment, issues of safety and evacuation, but still lacking in terms of valuation of the problems Airway, Breathing and Circulation Disability while problems can be assessed fairly.
