SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY

At Brampton we encourage an acceptable standard of dress as it enhances discipline, image, a sense

of belonging and a business-like atmosphere within the school.

White socks
Grey tights

P.E. AND GAMES

Black or white plimsolls
Trainers for outdoor use only (NOT indoor P.E.)
Navy shorts
House colour T-Shirt (red, green, blue, yellow)
Blue Tracksuits for winter use
All clothing must be clearly marked with your child’s name (including outdoor coat, Wellingtons
and plimsolls).

Children must change correctly for P.E. and games lessons for reasons of safety and hygiene. Girls
wearing tights should wear socks for P.E. and games. Children with long hair should tie their hair
back.

Trainers are unsafe for use on P.E. apparatus and not suitable for football when the field is wet or
muddy.

Year 5 and 6 have swimming lessons. Girls should wear a plain one-piece costume (preferably navy
or black) and swimming hats are required. Your child must be provided with a towel and
hairbrush/comb. Your child will need an old shirt or apron to protect their clothes during painting
and craft lessons. A plimsoll bag will be required, clearly marked with your child’s name on the
outside.
Jewellery is not allowed in school. Rings and earrings can be dangerous to both the wearer and other
children during playtimes, P.E, games or swimming and should not be worn to school. If parents are
considering having their child’s ears pierced, the beginning of the summer holidays is advised to
allow time for the ears to heal before returning to school in September.

Extremes of fashion in hair styles are not accepted. This includes patterns or letters cut into the hair,
hair colouring or artificial braids.

Make-up and nail varnish should not be worn.

Please Note:
Brampton Primary School fully endorses the principle that the school’s uniform should be affordable
for everyone, ensuring that no pupil or family is socially excluded through inability to buy.
Accordingly, our uniform is affordable and good value for money; parents may purchase uniform
items from the school PTA (FOB), showing the school logo at the school, or match the colour in the
high street shops or supermarket if they so wish.

The Head Teacher, on behalf of the Governing Body, will make the final decision regarding what is
permissible in school.
