Manufacturer & Sponsor: ASUS

Date: July 13, 2016
Product Name: X99-Deluxe II
Part Number: X99-Deluxe II
Warranty: 3 Years
The ASUS X99-Deluxe II motherboard is the model you buy when
you want everything. It is the most feature-filled model in the
company's LGA2011-v3 lineup, and with a retail price of about
$420USD/$540CAD. It is aimed at the higher end of the market. It
is clearly a direct descendant of the original X99-Deluxe.
Hardware Application / How does Asus X99 Deluxe II
works?
When new processors are launched, new motherboards are
launched. It's a ritual that goes back decades now. While
Broadwell-E's compatibility with the LGA2011-v3 platform means
that we haven't been blessed with a new chipset, that doesn't
mean there isn't anything to look forward to on the motherboard
front. The second generation X99 motherboards that have
recently launched represent the very best that motherboard
manufacturers can create when largely unrestrained from pesky
PCI-E lane limitations and considering the fact that there's been
an almost two year gap between the first generation models and
these new releases, we expect them to be even better than their
predecessors...which weren't slouches in their own right.

Author: AkG
Date: July 11, 2016
Product Name: Enterprise Capacity 3.5 v5 8TB Review
Part Number: ST8000NM0055
Warranty: 5 Years
Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 v5 8TB is one such model that
fits this perceived need to a veritable T. Unlike Western Digital,
Seagate has deftly avoided the exotic route for the latest refresh
of their EC series. There isnt any helium used and there arent
seven platters crammed into a chassis that was designed to
house a mere six platters.
Hardware Application / How does Seagate Enterprise
Capacity v5 8TB works?
Without exotic silver bullets to rely upon to reach its capacity
threshold, Seagate had to do things the old fashioned way and
simply increased the aerial density of the platters. As such the
8YB version uses six platters (and twelve heads) just like the
previous EC 3.5 v4 model, but the aerial density has been boosted
from 1TB per platter to a whopping 1.34TB per platter. This makes
the Seagate EC 3.5 v5 one of the most advanced classic hard
drives available today. The Enterprise Capacity V5 lineup is meant
for the most demanding of scenarios that would make a standard
Western Digital RED curl up into a ball and bite its pillow.
Unfortunately, the traditional approach also leads to it consuming
more electricity, producing more heat, and

generally being louder than any other 8TB 5,400RPM model. But
will the potential downfalls matter to business-minded buyers who
will
likely install these drives in offsite clusters? Many of them will be
more than happy to trade a bit of noise, power and heat for
proven technology, a long warranty, huge MTBF numbers and the
performance allowed by a 7200RPM rotational speed.

Hardware Architecture:
Utilizes the tried, tested and true Perpendicular Magnetic
Recording (PMR) technology
Classic 7,200RPM hard drive
Uses a state of the art chassis that allows for much more
internal room than in the typical 3.5 model
A mere 1.3 watts of typical power consumption per Terabyte
of capacity

Author: SKYMTL
Date: July 5, 2016
Product Name: GTX 1080 G1 Gaming 8GB
Part Number: GV-N1080G1 GAMING-8GD
Warranty: 3 Years
Hardware Application / How does Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1
Gaming works?
The Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming offers up a Based and Boost
clock that notably exceeds NVIDIAs reference specifications.
Compared against the Founders Edition we expect the gap to be
even greater since Gigabytes advanced Windforce 3X heatsink
should help keep those frequencies consistent in situations where
the FE struggled. Unfortunately, memory speed remain at 10Gbps
but this was likely done to insure adequate yields on this
particular SKU.
Hardware Architecture:
1751MHz and 1860MHz Base / Boost frequencies make this
card one of the fastest at its respective price point
Memory speed remain at 10Gbps
Fully controllable RGB LED
Custom PCB with upgraded components and a binned core
which is supposed to offer more overclocking headroom

The first step in AMDs road to success is the RX480 a card based
off of the Polaris architecture and a GPU that weve already
covered. Truth be told the path leading to this day has been an
interesting one since, unlike previous launches, fits and spurts of
information about Polaris and the RX480 have been available for
some time.

In the short term, this will allow for a much closer relationship
between the PC and the console than ever before. Games will be
easier port, encouraging the proliferation of multi-platform
releases (already a common sight), and apps and services once
restricted to PC will start to appear in the living room on home
consoles. The Xbox One shows particular promise in this regard
because it runs a Windows kernel, which means developers
should find writing software for Microsofts console familiar.
A longer view opens even greater potential and questions
whether the PC and console should even be treated as separate
platforms. Might a game be played on a PC, saved in the cloud,
and then finished on a console? Could developers start selling an
all-access pass that provides a version for every platform at the
same price? Might multi-player finally span platforms, rather than
separating console and PC players into their own playgrounds?
And who will be first to hack Windows or Linux onto a PS4 or Xbox
One? The answers to these questions could completely change
how gamers play.

ACER XB280HK
Author: Acer
Date Released: September 2, 2015
Product Name: Acer XB280HK
A 4K monitor is great in theory, but extra pixels wont really
improve gaming if the screen cant keep up with the computers
graphics card. LCD monitors often have fixed refresh rates of
either 60 or 120 Hz, but games rarely deliver frames at a constant
speed, causing image tearing. The 28-inch Acer XB280HK is the
first 4K monitor to include a Nvidia G-Sync board, which allows it
to match rates on the fly with the computers graphics card. This
way, dramatic battle scenes will always look the way developers
intended.

Hardware Application / How does Acer XB280HK works ?

The Acer XB280HK was one of the original and awesome 4K UHD
monitors to become available to and made for gamers who want
to try their luck at 4K PC gaming. Of course, when the monitor
was first released back in summer of 2014, the overall 4K PC
gaming landscape was much less developed than it is now and 4K
monitors were less common than today.
Nonetheless, despite a considerably price decrease between mid2014 and now in mid-2015, the XB280HK remains an excellent 4K
Monitor and an excellent gaming monitor in particular. It may lack
some of the more modern features of a few newer 4K displays but
it does come with Nvidias excellent G-Sync technology and this
alone makes it worthy of consideration for those of you who are

APPLE MAC PRO

Date Released: December 19, 2013
Product Name: Apple Mac Pro
Normally when a designer or video editor is hard at work,
everyone nearby can tell: The computer is running at a scream
and heating up the area in the process. A radical redesign makes
the Apple Mac Pro the first high-performance PC that packs
tremendous horsepower into a quiet, 9.9-inch-tall cylindrical body
one eighth the volume of its predecessor. Instead of adding heat
sinks and fans for each processor and graphics carda typical
layout that adds a lot of bulk and noiseengineers built the Mac
Pro around an aluminum thermal core with a single fan at the top.
The configuration cuts the towers decibel level in half. Apple
computers have long been a proving ground for innovative design
(how many MacBook Air clones have you seen today?), so dont
be surprised if future desktops borrow this arrangement.
Hardware Application / How does Apple Mac Pro works?
The first-generation Mac Pro has a rectangular tower case which
outwardly resembles the last version of the Power Mac G5, and
has similar expansion capabilities. The first Mac Pro has
dual Dual-core Xeon Woodcrest processors. It was replaced by a
dualQuad-core Xeon Clovertown model on April 4, 2007, and
again on January 8, 2008 by a dual Quad-core
Xeon Harpertown model.[1]The 2012 Mac Pro is largely based on a
model that was announced on July 27, 2010. It
features Nehalem/Westmere architecture Intel Xeon processors.
These CPUs offer optionally twelve processing cores. The machine
itself at its most evolved is able to accommodate up to four 2 TB
hard disk drives or 512 GB solid state drives, as well as the ATI
Radeon HD 5770/5870 GPU units, one per slot.[2]

The second-generation design of Mac Pro was announced at the

2013 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) opening
keynote on June 10, 2013. Apple states that the new Mac Pro
achieves twice the overall performance of the last model. [3] The
redesigned Mac Pro takes up less than one eighth the volume of
immediately previous model, being shorter (9.9 inches (25 cm)),
thinner (6.6 inches (17 cm)) and less massive (11 pounds
(5.0 kg)). The machine supports one central processing unit (CPU)
(up to a 12-core Xeon E5 CPU), four 1866 MHz DDR3 slots, dual
AMD FirePro D series GPUs (up to D700 with 6 GB VRAM each),
and PCIe-based flash storage. There is updated wireless
communication and support for six displays. Reviews have been
generally positive, with caveats.
