TheAV3000defaultsettingswerechosentomakethemostcommontypeofsetupentirelyautomatic.Asaresult,
formostapplications,thereareonlyafewstepsrequiredtoplacetheAV3000intooperation.Pleaserefertothe

point,thestartupisautomaticandrequiresabout3minutesforthenetworkstosynchronize.
Note:IftheAV3000bluelightcomesonwithoutyourhavingpressedtheSTART/STOPbutton,theAV3000
wasnotshutdownproperlybeforepowerwaslastremoved.Torecover,waitabout3minutesandthen
brieflypresstheSTART/STOPbutton.Afterabout30secondsthelightshouldgoout.Then,reexecute
step5above.

USINGTHEAV3000
ManyofthefeaturesoftheAV3000arecompletelyautomatic.Theseincludethefollowing:

Onceconnectedandstarted,theAV3000makesavailableDHCPservicesontheAgileMeshwireless
networktoanyconnecteddevicesthatcanuseit.Forexample,alaptopconnectedviaEthernettooneof
theAgileMeshwirelessnodes,receivesanetworkaddressfromtheAV3000automatically.Thisworksjust
thesamewaythatmostnetworkconnectionsofcomputerstoLANswork.

AssoonastheAV3000isconnectedandinitialized,itfindsalloftheAgileMeshanalogvideoportsonthe
AgileMeshwirelessmeshnetworkandautomaticallysynchronizestheirtimeswithitsowninternalreal
timeclock.Itcontinuestodothisperiodicallysothatthetimesdisplayedwiththevideostreamsremain
consistent.

AsaresultofitsautomaticsurveyoftheAgileMeshwirelessnetwork,theAV3000automaticallybuilds
anddynamicallyupdatesanembeddedwebpagethatprovideseasyaccesstotheAgileMeshanalogvideo
ports.FromacomputerconnectedtooneoftheAgileMeshnodesonthemeshnetwork,thiswebpage
canbeaccessedbyenteringhttp://192.168.224.1intothewebbrowsersaddressbar.Notonlyisthis
usefulforaquickaccesstothevideostreams,butitdisplaystheportnumbersassociatedwiththevideos.
TheportnumbersareusefulindeterminingaccesstothevideostreamsontheLANsideoroverthe
Internet.

Inadditiontothesecapabilities,theAV3000actsasaselfconfiguringvideoroutertofacilitateconnection
toothernetworks.ItautomaticallymakesthevideosourcesavailableonthenetworkattachedtotheLAN
sideoftheAV3000.ItaccomplishesthisbymappingthediscoveredvideosourcesintotheIPaddressing
subnetassociatedwiththeLANusingtheNetworkAddressTranslation(NAT)technique.Oneunique
aspectofthisautomaticselfconfigurationisthatthevideosourcesaremappedtopredictableport

OneoftheusefulaspectsoftheAV3000istheabilitytoeasilyviewvideoviathedynamicallybuiltwebpage
embeddedintheAV3000.Thiswebpagedoesrequiretheusertologin.Thedefaultusername/passwordpairis
guest/guest(withoutthequotationmarks).ThiswebpageisaccessiblefromtheAgileMeshwirelessmesh

theViewbutton(locatedbelowthethumbnailimage)functionsdifferentlywheninvokedfromaLANbased
login.Inthiscase,thevideoshowninthewindowthatresultsfrompressingtheViewbuttonusesareplicated
videostream.Thismeansthatuptofivedifferentusersmayviewcopiesofthesamevideostreamfromfive
differentcomputersattachedtotheLANwithoutcausingtheadditionalvideostreamstobetransportedoverthe
wirelessnetwork.
ThelimitoffiveusersmaybechangedintheMiscellaneousConfigurationssectionsoftheAdminpage(described
inlatersections).Theparameterthatcontrolsthemaximumnumberofsimultaneousviewersischangeableby
pressingtheVideoMultiplexerbuttonontheAdminpage.
AVRDISCOVERUTILITY
IncludedontheinstallationCDincludedwiththeAV3000istheAVRDiscoverutilityprogram.Thispackageis
primarilyusefulfordeterminingtheaddressthathasbeenassignedtotheAV3000foritsLANinterface.Itis
designedtorunonaPCthatisconnectedtotheLAN,nottothemeshnetwork.
IftheutilityhasnotalreadybeeninstalledonyourLANconnectedPC,inserttheinstallationCD.Iftheinstallation
programdoesntautomaticallystart,navigatetotheAVRDiscover_install.exefileontheCDusingWindows,and
doubleclickittolaunchtheinstallationprogram.When
theinstallationhascompleted,anewiconwillappear
onyourdesktoplabeledAVRDiscover.
Torunthisprogram,doubleclickontheicon.Because
yourcomputermayhavemultiplenetworkinterfaces,
usethedropdownlistatthebottomoftheAVR
DiscoverUtilityframetoselecttheinterfaceassociated
withyourPCsconnectiontotheLAN.Then,pressthe
ScanforAVRsbuttonatthebottomleftoftheutility
frame.Thatwillinitiateascanandshouldresultina
reportsimilartothatshowntotheright.
TheAVRIPAddressreportedistheaddressthathas
beenassignedtotheAV3000ontheLAN.Alsoincluded
isalistoftheAgileMeshcamerasattachedtotheAgileMeshwirelessvideonetworkalongwiththeirnetworkIP

Asweusethetermhere,portscanbeviewedasanadditionalfieldintheIPaddressingscheme.Thisadditional
fieldisnecessarywhenavideostreamcrossestheboundaryfromonenetworktoanother.
HOWDOTHEYRELATETOTHEVIDEOSOURCES?
AttheinterfacebetweenanAgileMeshnetworkandanotherLAN,everyAgileMeshvideostreamoriginatingon
themeshnetworkhasthreeportnumbersassociatedwithit...7xxx,8xxxand9xxx.Inthemeshnetwork,allofthe
AgileMeshanalogvideoportsareassociatedwithIPaddressesbetween192.168.224.049and192.168.224.149.
Thexxxdigitsshownintheportnumbersabovealwayscorrespondtothelast3digitsoftheassociatedvideo
source.Forexample,ifthevideosourcehasanIPaddressof192.168.224.052(theaddressfornode1,camera1as
shownontheportmapinAppendixA),theassociatedportnumbersare7052,8052and9052.

Choosingtheportnumberdependsonthenetwork(i.e.,theMeshortheLAN)towhichthecomputeris
connectedandtheprogrambeingusedtoaccessthevideo.Followingaresomerecommendationsforvarious

USINGTHEBROWSERTOVIEWVIDEO
Toviewvideousingabrowser,itisnotnecessarytospecifyaport.Forexample,itispossibletojustenterthe
meshIPaddressasaURLandaccessthevideosourcedirectly.Ofcourse,withtheAV3000,itiseasiertojustclick
ontheAdminbuttonunderneaththeappropriatethumbnailimageontheAV3000webpage.
USINGAVIEWINGPACKAGE
Often,itisdesirabletorunaviewingpackagelikeiProViewertoviewandrecordthevideoonacomputer
connectedinsidethemesh.Inthiscase,youshouldspecifythe7000seriesportnumberforagivenvideosource.

ThereareseveraldifferentviewingpackagesthatsupporttheAgileMeshanalogvideoports.Ifpossible,youshould
usethe9000seriesportnumberwhensettingupaviewingpackagethatisconnectedtothenetworkontheLAN
sideoftheAV3000.The9000seriesportssupplyreplicasofthevideostreamandmultipleviewinglocationsdo
notcauseanadditionalloadonthewirelessmeshnetworkwherebandwidthavailabilityiscritical.Thisfunctions
wellwiththeiProViewersoftwareavailablefromAgileMesh.
Otherviewingpackagesmayusedifferentaspectsofthevideointerfaceforaccessingnotonlythevideostream
butforpassingcontrols(suchasPanTiltZoom)commandsacrosstheinterface.Dependingonthemechanism
beingusedbythethirdpartypackage,pantiltzoommaynotworkusingthisportnumber.Ifthepantiltzoom
functionsareneeded,youcanusethe7000seriesportnumbers(atthepotentialexpenseofburdeningthemesh
network.)

automaticallyforwardedportssothattheycanbeaccessedfromtheLANnetworkconnectedtotheothersideof
theAV3000.AswiththeAgileMeshvideoports,thesedefaultportsare7xxxand8xxx,wherethexxxarethelast
threedigitsoftheIPaddressthatwasassignedtothedevice.Forexample,ifanetworkdevicecapableof
acceptingaDHCPaddressispluggedintotheEthernetportofanAgileMeshnodeitwillbeassignedanIPaddress

IfyouconnectanIPcameratotheEthernetportofoneoftheAgileMeshwirelessnodesandthecameraissetup
torequestanetworkaddressviaDHCP,itwillbeassignedanetworkaddressasdescribedabove.Itsembedded
serverwillbeaccessiblefromtheLANsideoftheAV3000throughtheportsthatareautomaticallyconfigured.So,
iftheLANIPaddressoftheAV3000(probablyalsoassignedbyaDHCPserverontheLAN)is,forexample,
192.168.1.114,andthenewIPcameraisassignedaddress192.168.224.210bytheAV3000,youshouldbeableto
accesstheembeddedwebserveronthenewIPcamerafromalocationontheLANbyusing
http://192.168.1.114:8210intheURLfieldofawebbrowser(e.g.,InternetExplorer).
Usually,themanufactureroftheIPcameraprovidesautilitysoftwarepackagethatcanscanthenetworkto
determinewhatIPaddresseshavebeenassignedtocamerasfromthatmanufacturer.
JustliketheAgileMeshIPvideoservers(embeddedinAgileMeshnodes)thatprovidetheanalogvideoportsfor
externalcameras,mostIPvideocamerasuseseparateportsforprovidingvideostreams.Itwillprobablybe
necessarytologintothenewIPcameraandmakesureitsvideoportnumbermatchestheonethatismappedfor
forwardingintheAV3000.Itsinternalhttpportnumber(i.e.theportnumberassociatedwithitsembeddedweb
serverinterface)isassumedtobe80,thestandardhttpport.So,fortheaboveexample,theportsinthenewIP
camerawillneedtobesetto80forthehttpserver(almostcertainlythedefault)and7210forthevideostream.
YouwillneedtoconsultthemanufacturersmanualforthatIPcameratodeterminetheexactmethodfor
configuringthevideoport.
Insummary,thegeneralstepstoconnectingwithandviewinganonAgileMeshIPcamerawithabrowserareas
follows:
