featured project
The civil part like laying of tracks, construction of railway over bridges etc was undertaken
by ERA Infra Engineering Ltd and the PEB part was executed by ERA Buildsys Ltd.The
project included construction of 6 different structures namely Inspection Shed, Lifting
Shed- South and North side, Transformer Shed, Bogie Repair Shed and Drop Table Shed.
The scope of work included design and construction of steel structures approximately
18000sqm including its pile foundations/pile cap/ connecting longitudinal & transverse
beams, flooring, roofing, side cladding, inspection platform, EOT crane etc. It had to
be ensured that all aspects of quality assurance, including procurement and testing of
materials and other components of the work during the manufacturing work.
MRVC
ERA Buildsys Ltd is a registered firm with Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC)
and has done a number of projects with them. One such project was the designing,
construction and erection of EMU maintenance facilities in car shed between Nallasopara
and Virar Station of Western Railway MUTP-II. The PEB project included construction of
six sheds namely- Inspection Shed, Lifting Shed- South and North side, Transformer Shed,
Bogie Repair Shed and Drop Table Shed. This MRVC project was worth `.108.47 Crores - a
turnkey project which comprised of PEB structure with typical curved rafters and civil work.
This job gave EBL the opportunity to handle and nurture it from beginning till the end. The
designing was done in STAAD Pro and the manufacturing of all the PEB components were
done in both the plants of EBL in Nagpur and Pantnagar. It was a challenging experience
as the curved rafter system generally produces a lot of scrap. It was evitable for EBL to
consider keeping the wastage at its minimal and ensure quality and finesse.
The tender team in the marketing department initially thoroughly explored the
prime requirements of the project and ensured that all the pre requisites in terms of
documentation, understanding of the details and the on time submissions were taken
care of. The design team ensured the best possible customized design structure as per
MRVCs requirement was submitted and approved. The manufacturing team ensured
procurement of the right material from the listed vendors, proper planning to ensure on
time completion, regular material inspections, and sequential dispatch of the material.
The erection team finally ensured proper erection of the structures as per the clients
requirement.
In order to deliver the project on time and with finesse, it was indeed a big challenge
for ERA Buildsys Ltd when it came to execution and timely delivery without affecting the
other ongoing 130 approx projects in the plants. The planning team took the tedious task
of including the new project in the ongoing production and ensured least disturbance in
the process flow. The project was unique for the design and engineering team as well as it
included curved rafter structures which produce a high amount of scrap. Hence there was
very less scope of rework as the raw material had to be cautiously and effectively used. To
ensure on time project completion; the pre-engineered framework used was sequential
procurement, production, dispatch and erection of the structures. The designers regular
interactions with the client, the detailers regular visits to the site and the plant and the
accuracy maintenance of the production manager assured perfect results. The proper
coordination, team spirit and the never dying zeal of the EBL team eventually led to the
on time completion of the project and ERA was awarded the completion certificate for the
same with due respect. Picture has been attached
