Collocation

Collocation is defined as habitual juxtaposition (putting side by side) of a

particular word with another word or words with a frequency greater than
chance. The pairing of words is determined by the convention and usage of
the language. Every language has words that tend to occur together. Take
common sense as an example. Saying random sampling sounds much
better than haphazard sampling even though random and haphazard
mean exactly the same thing. You need a good knowledge of collocations to
sound natural in your language use. Vested interests hidden interest
