The Canadian Election 2015

On October 19th 2015, Canada seen a red wave flooding the map as the election was in

progress. With one hundred and eighty four seats ranking the most popular vote by 39.5% the
liberals won a majority government and Canada seen a new prime minster take the stands. The
liberal party conquered nearly all of Atlantic Canada, by the time the polls were closed in
Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and the Prairies the Liberals snatched up more than twenty seats that
were previously held by the Conservative party. Many people say it could have been the strategic
voting, but in my opinion i strongly believe most Canadian citizens wanted to see a change.

The NDP started out in the lead of this election; with polls and seat projections

suggesting that Tom Mulcair would be the next prime minister of Canada. Although as the
campaign dragged on into its historic lengths, Mulcairs NDP staggered. By the end result of this
election the Conservative party gathered ninety nine seats, NDP with forty four seats, Bloc
Quebecois with only ten and the green party with the low number of one. Since the 2011
election the liberals gained 150 seats, conservatives lost 67 seats and the NDP lost 59 seats.

The North West Territories, Ontario, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia

and New Brunswick

had a majority of liberal votes, where as Alberta, British Columbia,

Manitoba and Quebec had a majority of the Conservative and NDP parties, with the occasional
liberal votes.

There are always many promises when an election is being held; the conservative party

had made several promises that would not benefit the whole society more or less specific
individuals, like, proper training in every recreational arena, would increase the amount that can
be saved in a tax free savings account, would not raise personal or business taxes, would increase
the guaranteed income supplement for seniors etc.

The liberal party had made vast promises that would increase stability and help our

society like; expanding the Canadian Pension Plan , working with the provinces to lower the cost
of prescription medication so its more affordable to people without benefits, cancel corporate tax
cuts and restore tax rate to eighteen percent, Would launch an Innovation Gateway to support
innovation and entrepreneurship in aerospace, manufacturing, natural resources and new
emerging sectors, etc.

The NDP, Bloc Quebecois and green parties had very intriguing promises but I believe

the citizens of our country realize that their promises are way too good to be true; and realized
the fact of the matter that Justin Trudeau had many ambitions and great plans that were possible
to accomplish. Although Stephen Harper did have some promises that were easy to see
happening he did not act appropriate during the time of the campaign and his advertisements
backfired completely.

Stephen Harper was disliked by many, and largely returned the favour by sometimes

acting in ways that would be redeemed secretive, controlling and even vindictive; but those
actions further pushed up the countries negative feelings towards him. During this long campaign
trail the Harper governments famous commercials just enlightened the viewers about Justin
Trudeau more than diminishing him; the famous Hes just not ready put the idea of optimism
in peoples heads.

In conclusion I strongly believe Canada will see very positive outcomes with our new

prime minister. He is liked by many, spent time gathering with Canadians to listen, and showed
he cared about Canada , where as Harper has just been prime minister for too long with not
much change in our society, and in fact has never spent the time to listen to the voices throughout
Canada and just do what he wanted to see. In other words congratulations Justin Trudeau and
better luck next time Harper.
