MATERIAL DATA

WGF107
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Wagner WGF107 is a rigid moulded friction material; it
is charcoal grey in colour, and it has a basis of steel
filaments in a random dispersion. Selected friction
modifiers are combined with a specially developed
binder system to determine both the strength and the
frictional performance characteristics of the material.
Although not physically affected by slight
contamination, Wagner WGF107 is not suitable for use
under conditions of immersion in oil. Wagner WGF107
has a medium coefficient of friction, and maintains its
performance at all duty levels; it possesses good
thermal stability and static frictional behaviour.
This material has been developed for service on disc
brakes for cars and vans for replacement market use;
it is particularly suitable for use on rear axle
applications in the European market, including those
with integrated parking brakes, where it passes all
relevant ECE R90 approval tests.
AVAILABILITY
Manufactured in the form of pads for disc brakes,
integrally moulded to steel backplates.
APPLICATION
Disc brakes for light vehicles of all energy ratings.

Good quality, fine grained pearlitic grey cast iron.
For further information about mating surfaces, ask
for the Notes Sheet N32: General Conditions
Relating To Use.
HANDLING AND MACHINING
A Health and Safety data sheet is available for this
material and gives further environmental information.
This is a non-asbestos material, with none of the
constituents posing any health hazard during normal
handling. Finished products made of, or incorporating
this material, may therefore be handled safely in
transit, in store, or during fitting, and are not subject to
the requirements of the Control of Substances
Hazardous to Health Regulations Act 1988" (COSHH).
However, when servicing friction devices, dust should
never be inhaled, whatever its nature, but should be
dealt with by the use of either (i) a suitable vacuum
apparatus (see Notes Sheet N24) or (ii) a suitable
liquid such as water to which some liquid detergent
has been added. When any work is done on this
material, such as drilling, cutting, grinding, filing, or
riveting to metal parts, then it is subject to the COSHH
regulations because of the dust which may be
produced (see Notes Sheet N24). Similar regulations
may apply in other countries to control work of this
kind.
MACHINING DATA
Ferodo Limited will supply information on the cutting,
drilling and grinding of friction materials on request.
SIZE RANGE
Any intended new design of disc brake pad should
be discussed with the company at an early stage, to
ensure that there are no dimensional or other
problems.
OTHER INFORMATION
This data sheet should be considered in association
with the information sheet N32: "General conditions
Relating To Use which, together with other
literature on the use of Ferodo friction materials, is
available on request.
