Passenger Air Bag Off


If there is no passenger or the adult passenger is small or out of
position, the front PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator may turn ON.
When this indicator is ON, the front passengers air bag will not operate.
Please refer to your Owners Manual and the separate brochure
entitled Your Safety is Important to Kia for more detailed
information regarding your vehicles air bags.
WARNING: Always properly restrain children in the rear seat of
your vehicle. Seat covers must NOT be used because they can
affect how the system operates.

Unlock all doors and rear hatch by turning the key toward the rear of the
vehicle twice within 4 seconds. Turn toward the front of the vehicle once
to relock all doors.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)*


TPMS detects loss of tire pressure beyond specific limits. The system will turn on a warning light
to
alert the driver of tire(s) with a low pressure condition, check/correct to extinguish warning light. If the
letters TPMS appear and remain illuminated, this indicates the Tire Pressure Monitoring System is not
functioning properly. Consult your dealer for service. For proper maintenance, safety, and maximum fuel
economy, you must always maintain recommended tire inflation pressures and stay within the load limits
and weight distribution recommended for your vehicle.

Instrument Panel Dimmer


The Instrument Panel Dimmer A is located to the left of the steering
column. When the parking lights or headlights are on, rotate the
control knob to adjust the instrument panel display brightness to the
desired level.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)


The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) monitors information from
various vehicle sensors, then compares the drivers commands with
the behavior of the vehicle. If an unstable condition occurs, ESC
intervenes within fractions of a second via the engine computer and
brake system. To turn the ESC OFF, press ESC button. To turn ESC
ON, press again. System defaults to ON position at start.

4WD Transfer Mode Selection Button*


Press to lock transfer case in 4WD mode for off-road driving or driving
in low-traction conditions. To return to 4WD Auto Mode, press again.
NOTE: System automatically begins to deactivate at speeds above
19 mph and returns to 4WD Auto Mode at speeds above 25 mph.

signal a left turn.

Cruise Control*
To Set Cruise Control, Do the Following:
1. Push the CRUISE ON/OFF button E to turn the system on.
2. Accelerate to the desired speed, must be more than 24 mph (40 km/h).
3. Activate the SET/COAST switch by pushing the control stalk
downward, and release it at the speed you want. The SET light in
the instrument cluster will illuminate. Release the accelerator at the
same time. The desired speed will automatically be maintained.
To Cancel Cruise Control, Do One of the Following:
1. Press the brake pedal.
2. Push the CANCEL switch.
3. Push the CRUISE ON/OFF button.
To Increase Cruising Speed, Do One of the Following:
1. Activate the RES/ACCEL switch by pressing the control stalk
upward and releasing it. This will increase your current cruising
speed by 1 mph (1.6 km/h).
2. Hold the RES/ACCEL switch, your speed will increase gradually.
Let go of the button when you reach your desired speed.
To Decrease Cruising Speed, Do One of the Following:
1. Activate the SET/COAST switch by pushing the control stalk
downward and releasing it. This will decrease your current cruising
speed by 1 mph (1.6 km/h).
2. Hold the SET/COAST switch, your speed will decrease gradually.
Let go of the button when you reach your desired speed.

(RANGE) Distance to Empty: Displays driving distance remaining with
current amount of fuel. Indicator light will blink when remaining distance

Digital Clock
With the ignition in the ACC or ON position, the clock buttons operate
as follows:
HOUR: Press H to advance the time displayed by one hour.
MINUTE: Press M to advance the time displayed by one minute,
or hold to rapidly advance.
RESET: Press R to clear away minutes and set to the nearest hour.
NOTE: Hold for more than 4 seconds to toggle between 12 hour
and 24 hour formats.

Rear Window Defroster/Outside Mirror Heater*/


Windshield Deicer*
With the engine running, press to whisk away condensation, snow
and ice from the rear window. This button also heats the outside
rearview mirrors* and deices the windshield.* Press button again to
deactivate. The defroster automatically turns off after 20 minutes or
at engine shut-off.

Manual Gear Shift* The manual transaxle has 5 forward gears.


1. Clutch pedal must be fully depressed before vehicle can be started.
3. Return the gear shift lever to the neutral position before shifting into
reverse.
Automatic Gear Shift*
P (Park): Press the brake pedal to move the gearshift from PARK.
R (Reverse): Reverse.
N (Neutral): Gears disengaged.
D (Drive): The transaxle will shift through the gears automatically.
NOTE: Press the brake pedal to move gear shift from N to P or R position.
Sport Mode: Move the shift lever from the D position to the right
gate to select.
Sport Mode Shifting: Move the shift lever forward (+) to upshift or
(-) to downshift.

Seat Warmers*
Located below the gear shift on the center console, press the
corresponding switch for drivers or front passengers seat warming.

Press switch B to select DOOR position to make the light come on
when a door is opened and go off when all doors are shut. Press
switch C to select ON position to keep dome light on.

Rear Dome Light


Set switch to OFF position to keep dome light off, or set to ON position
to keep dome light on. In the DR (Door) position, dome light will come
on when the rear hatch or rear hatch window is opened and go off
when closed.

Adjusting the Seat Forward and Backward:


1. Pull up on the seat slide adjustment lever A under the seat cushion
and hold it.
2. Slide the seat until the desired position is attained.
3. Release the seat slide adjustment lever A and make sure the seat
is locked in place.
Front Cushion Height Adjustment:
To raise: Rotate the knob B clockwise.
To lower: Rotate the knob B counterclockwise.
Rear Cushion Height Adjustment:
To raise: Rotate the knob C clockwise.
To lower: Rotate the knob C counterclockwise
Seat Recline Adjustment:
1. Lean forward slightly and pull up on the seatback recline lever D .
2. Lean back on the seat until the desired position is attained.
3. Release the seatback recline lever D and make sure the seat is
locked in place.
WARNING: Adjusting the driver seat with the vehicle in motion could
cause loss of control and a serious accident.

Folding the Rear Seat:


1. Insert seatbelt buckles into pocket
between rear seatback and
cushion.
2. Move the seatbelt so its clear of
the seatback.
3. Lower the rear seat headrests to
the lowest position.
4. Pull up on the lock release lever G
located on the top of the seatback.
5. Fold the seatback forward and
down firmly.

Unfolding the Rear Seat:


1. Pull up on the lock release
lever G located on the top of
the seatback.
2. Lift and firmly push seatback
toward rear of the vehicle
until it clicks into place.
3. Recover seatbelt buckles
from pocket between rear
seatback and cushion.
4. Return the rear seatbelts to
their proper positions.

Seatback Table
To use front passenger seatback as
a table while parked, do the following:
1. Lower the front seat headrest to
the lowest position.
2. Lift up on seatback recline lever H .
3. Fold seatback forward and down
firmly.

To return seatback to original


position, do the following:
1. Lift up on the seatback
recline lever H .
2. Fold seatback toward rear
of the vehicle firmly until the
seatback clicks into place.

If there is no passenger or the adult passenger is small or out of
position, the front PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator may turn ON.
When this indicator is ON, the front passengers air bag will not operate.
Please refer to your Owners Manual and the separate brochure
entitled Your Safety is Important to Kia for more detailed
information regarding your vehicles air bags.
WARNING: Always properly restrain children in the rear seat of
your vehicle. Seat covers must NOT be used because they can
affect how the system operates.

Child Safety Locks


Located on the rear edge of the door, push the child safety lock to
the lock position to disable the inner door handles from opening
the rear doors. WARNING: To prevent a child from opening rear
doors from the inside, rear door safety locks should be activated
whenever children are in the vehicle.
