instruments using correct techniques for producing sound.
5.5.6 Identify and apply terms and symbols found in musical scores.
Objectives:
Students will be able to:
Slur two eighth notes followed by playing two staccato notes
Match the styles of the rest of the ensemble
Play mm. 33-40, keeping in mind the correct notes, rhythms, and tempo
Materials:
Score for Fantasy on an Irish Clogging Tune
Podium
Baton
Blackboard
Procedure:
1. Warm Up: 2 Minutes The teacher will begin the lesson with asking the students
to play the Eb concert scale on half notes, repeating the top note.
2. Next, the students will be asked to identify the rhythm on the board.
a. four eighth notes with a slur on the first two and staccato on the last two
3. The students will play the first five notes of the Eb concert scale, each pitch on
four eighth notes like the example.
4. The students will then play the same pattern going up and down on the first five
notes of the same scale.
5. Lastly, the students will play the entire Eb concert scale going up and down.
6. The students will turn to the piece and look at mm. 33-40.
7. Rehearsal: 3 minutes The students will be asked as a section to identify how we
used the warm-up to prepare for the piece.

9. A self-evaluation will take place, with the teacher making sure all the students are
using the correct fingerings and pay attention to the dynamics and articulations.
