Reflecting on Romans 12:4-5, For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these
members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member
belongs to all the others. reminds of how the Mathematics Department is functioning. The subject area had
some innovations this month which were successfully implemented because they were working as one.
For this month, together with the Science Department and Maam Marilou Marasigan, the Math and
Science Reading Corner was conceptualized. It also serves as a learning hub for the students and venue for
them to seek for their teachers assistance regarding the lesson they had a difficulty with. Some asks for the
help of the fellow students. In line with this, the Math Club came to exist, primarily, to promote their confidence
in the subject, to help their peers and to develop their interest in the subject. The officers are as follows:

Last September 10, 2016 was the last day and graduation of the program, 2016 MTAP DepEd
Saturday Programs in Mathematics for Learners. It is an activity spearheaded by the Mathematics Teachers
Association of the Philippines (MTAP) Inc. The program aims at providing students the opportunity to do
mathematics with some open-problem solving without the threat of tests, giving students an intensive review of
the material they covered in the previous year and the first weeks of this school year to cope more readily with
the lessons this year. This was conducted for 6 Saturdays. The numbers of attendees for the said sessions
were as follows: Grade 7 139 attendees, Grade 8 140 attendees, Grade 9 77 attendees and 76
attendees for Grade 10. Medals were also given to recognize the students participation.
Educators teaching the same grade level continuously coordinates with each other regarding planning
for the lesson, sharing of strategies, coming up with the audio visual materials, making of quizzes, tests,
power points, problem sets and activity sheets. Beyond the professional level it was also a time to get to know
each other better and help each other in any way that they can. The close coordination between them helped a
lot in achieving the desire to teach well.
