1. INTRODUCTION
The engagement of citizens and civil society organizations in public policy debate, or in
delivering public services and contributing to the management of public goods and
development, is a critical factor in making development policies and actions responsive
to the needs and aspirations of the people and potentially of the poor. With this regards,
the role and the contribution of the civil society organization is significant in the
development processes of the country.
Concern Afro-Sustainable Development Organization (CASD) is non-governmental and
non- profit organization established in 2012 by Mr.Yadanno Eyasu who have been
concerned about the economic and social situation of the country caused by man-made
and natural calamities. It is an organization that can work in the country in the areas that
concerned women, children, and youth and marginalized communities. CASD intends to
contribute to significant change at scale by addressing the drivers of poverty in Ethiopia
and the rest of East Africa. CASD has legally been registered by the EFDR government
Charity and Society Agency with registration number 3077.It has been renewed its
license to optimize its action in the country where the attention is needed. Especially on
Orphaned childrens and women, and to address the problems related with marginalized
communities in the country. Currently there is a woman and childrens concerned project
that normally going on voluntary mobilization here in Kirkos sub-city of Addis Ababa city.
In this program about 30 orphaned childrens are supported in various educational
materials and cloth, mass community mobilization towards the municipality hygiene and
sanitation, environmental protection activities and etc. To this end, it has signed a
general operational agreement with the Oromiyaa Finance and Economic Development
Bureau.

comfortable life free from poverty & hunger
Mission
CASD is dedicated to serve and bring about sustainable development through
integrated community development programmes and poverty reduction strategies with
maximum participation of stakeholders, particularly to bring changes in the livelihood of
women, children, youth and that of the poor communities at large in the country.

2. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
CASD has a functional organizational structure. The General Assembly is the highest
governing body. Board of Director is the second higher governing body. The excusive
director, who is assigned by the board of Directors, is responsible for the
implementation and management activities of the organization. There are two
departments namely; Programming and Finance & Administration. Currently two project
coordination offices are there both in Addis Ababa and Burayu city special zone. The
departments and the branch offices are accountable to the Executive Director.

3. AREAS OF ENGAGEMENT (THEMATIC AREAS)

1. Health and WASH (water, Sanitation and Hygiene)
Under this thematic area, together with sanitation and hygiene issues
it intends to
support in ensuring primary health care and HIV/AIDS prevention, control and
advocacy. It targets to urban and rural sanitation and waste management through
provision of sanitary facilities and enhancing awareness of the rural and urban dwellers
and mass mobilization on urban cleaning, thereby contributing to reduce the prevailing
health challenges related with environmental health and sanitation.
Targets to support the process of addressing quality education to all the children and
reducing school dropout of children due to lack of ability to fulfill educational materials.
Thus, it focuses to provide educational materials to those children who don`t have
capacity to fulfill educational materials and school fee. Moreover, it intends to supply
food for the most food in secured children and have inefficient nutritious diet. In addition,
offers formal and informal education through establishing of multipurpose child and
vocational training centers.
2. Livelihood improvement
Under this thematic area, it intends to ensure that poor small-scale farmers,
pastoralists and agro-pastoralists particularly women - realized increased productivity
and real income that sustain their lives. It targets vulnerable communities who are
suffering from recurrent famine due to climate change induced drought and to create
productive and relatively stable (i.e. less vulnerable to shocks) small-scale producers.
The program has particular focus on women and youth (womens represent 50% of the
direct target group) to actively engage in on farm and off-farm activities such as
apiculture, animal fattening and pity trade and also promoting urban agriculture in urban
settings.

3. Environmental and Natural Resources conservation

Environmental and Natural Resource conservation- this thematic area mainly focuses
on participatory vegetation (forest), soil and water conservation, land protection and
land use planning, rehabilitation of degraded land through area closure, reforestation
and afforestation activities. Conserving and protecting forest using participatory forest
management approaches, establish forest users community associations.
Moreover, it intends to undertake researches on environmental pollution, in the country
side particularly where severe environmental pollution challenges have been observed.
4. Culture and Heritage promotion and conservation

It mainly focuses on the conservation and promotion of culture and heritage through
collecting monument, books, and works of art, and artifacts. Conduct researches on the
culture and traditions, folklore, language and promote using various means.
5. Gender, Children and Youth

Mainly focuses on the equal involvement of women and men in all aspects of
development activities in the country, equal access to and control over the resources
and empowering women through training to actively take parts in decision making
processes. support women and youth to involve in various income generating activities
through facilitating means of getting initial capital for income generation and piloting
cost-effective and family-effective approaches to orphan support and care through
community/home based child development and support program.
4. ACHIEVEMENTS
Due to funding problem now we are limited to specific areas. Currently the
Home based child care and support project is going on here in Addis
Ababa city of Kirkos Sub-city which is supported by the organizations
volunteers and partners like school club and etc..

Creating awareness and mass community mobilization on Solid waste
collection & management, Environmental health and sanitation for the
local communities and solid waste collectors in the area

Youth voluntary mobilizations on tree plantation to promote the
environmental protection and climate change

Youth networking and creating dialogue on the current global challenges
which is climate change and poverty.
