Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia
University, New York, NY. Mentor: Einat Lev,
Engineered and executed experiments examining lava-substrate interactions
using analog materials, at the LDEO Fluid Mechanics Lab., and using molten
basalt, at the Syracuse University Lava Project Facilities.
Completed field campaigns in Iceland and Chile to investigate lava flow
morphology and emplacement mechanics using UAV imaging and sample
collection.
2007 2014 Graduate Assistant, Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, University of
Hawaii at Mnoa, Honolulu, HI. Advisor: Sarah A. Fagents.
Developed field and laboratory experiments and numerical models to measure
and simulate lava-regolith heat transfer.
Used satellite-based data sets to classify and compare lunar and terrestrial basalt
flow morphologies.
Conducted fieldwork on Oahu, Hawaii, to ground-truth satellite interpretations of
layered lava flow sequences in valley walls.
