Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: Chapter
What does Frederick Douglass
Say
Frederick says that his relatio
between him and his mother is vey
distant. He compared the
relationship to him and a stranger.
He was not allowed to see his mom
because she was always working
and when she wasn’t working she
was cooking. Mr. Douglass didn’t
even get to go to his mother’s
funeral. Another thing he said is that
he doesn't know his own age. He
compared the slaves to horses
because not really any slaves know
when they were brought into the
world.

Mr. Douglass escapes from slavery in
Baltimore while he was being
‘rented’ out. He met somebody and
left with her. He went over to
england. His friends bought his
freedom. When he came back to the
U.S he wasa free man. So he began
speaking at abolitionist movement
where he was called on stage
because he was a former slave and
he ended up speaking for over 2
hours. The crowd loved him and
became very well known.
What does Frederick Douglass
hink
When Frederick Douglass says/does..
I think he is thinking...because...
I think that Mr. Douglass was
thinking about his future and how
he could help destroy slavery. I
believe he was also thinking about
his past like the songs, his friends(if
he had any), his master(which is also
likely to be his father), his auntie
which was whipped, and also what
he felt like back then.
What “Feel Douglass
When Frederick Douglass says/does.
I think he is feeling ...because...
When Mr. Douglass says that slaves
don’t know their age i think he is
angry because had to be apart of
that horrible thing and he was
powerless in that situation.LS
