He compared the relationship to him and a stranger. He was not allowed to see his mom because she was always working and when she wasn’t working she was cooking. Mr. Douglass didn’t even get to go to his mother’s funeral. Another thing he said is that he doesn't know his own age. He compared the slaves to horses because not really any slaves know when they were brought into the world.
