THE NATURAL GAS

I.

DESCRIPTION

NATURAL GAS GENERALITIES

Currently there are over 70 countries producing natural gas that use this
input for industrial development achieving greater competitiveness due to
the many advantages that natural gas offers.
Natural gas is the most advantageous source of energy because, besides
being a clean and inexpensive fuel, on the other hand competes with all
other energy sources.
That is to say, the natural gas is adapted to modern needs and therefore
offers the countries that own and operate, an important competitive
advantage. As a matter of fact, these advantages of natural gas over other
energy sources have made use constantly increase over the last twenty
years so that now represents more than 20% of the energy consumed in the
world.
Because of all the advantages of natural gas as an energy source have
made greater emphasis on the search for new deposits in the world
therefore today natural gas reserves are almost equal to the oil reserves.
WHAT IS THE NATURAL GAS?
Natural gas is a fossil fuel formed by a set of hydrocarbons in reservoir
conditions, they are in a gaseous state or in solution with the oil. It is found
in nature as "associated gas" That is to say, at the same time natural gas
and oil are together and as "natural gas unassociated 'when not
accompanied by oil.
The main component of natural gas is methane, which usually constitutes
80% of it. Furthermore, it has other constituents such as ethane, propane,
butane and other heavy fractions as more pentane, hexane and heptane.

NATURAL GAS FEATURES

It is called with the term "Natural" because their chemical constitution

does not involve any process; It is clean, colorless and odorless.

An odorant is added for distribution only as a safety measure.
Natural gas is lighter than air, so that, if a gas leak occurs, it will tend
to rise and dissipate into the atmosphere on the contrary LPG is

heavier than air.

It does not require storage in cylinders or tanks, taking into account
that is supplied by pipeline in a similar manner to drinking water.

Natural Gas Applications

Electricity generation: It is used as fuel for electricity generation through
turbo-generators installed in power plants.
As fuel in industry: Natural gas as fuel is used in industries that have
mainly ovens and kettles.
Consequently, it is ideal for the cement, bricks, glass, ceramics, metallurgy,
food, paper, textile, fishing, etc.
Commercial use: It is used as fuel in hotels, hospitals, bakeries,
restaurants for cooking / food preparation, hot water and heating.
Residential use: In homes, natural gas is used for cooking, hot water
supply and heating.
Use of Natural Gas in transport: It is used as fuel in the form of
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in vehicles with internal combustion
engines.

CONCLUSIONS
1. The "natural" gas is so named because its chemical
composition does not involve any process; It is clean, colorless
and odorless.
2. With safety reasons gas is added a chemical called
mercaptan, in order to detect a possible gas leak.
3. The use of natural gas can help avoid many of the concerns at
the environmental level including pollution, acid rain and
greenhouse gas emissions.

SUGGESTIONS
1. Due to natural gas is a clean source of energy that is to say
not contaminated, Peruvian society should use it for domestic
use, because sooner or later the pipelines needed to transport
the natural gas will be built.
2. The use of natural gas for domestic use will help the familiar
economy therefore will bring progress to the country.
3. Due to global warming to our planet, the human race should
use or generate more clean energy sources such as solar
energy, wind energy, etc. and so to stop or minimize global
warming.
