Moving Around Oporto

Clara, Sue and Brian are spending some time in the north of Portugal with Claras family. Theyre
in Oporto. Its the capital of the north of Portugal. It is famous all over the world because of Port
wine. Oporto is situated on the banks of the river Douro.
Port wine used to come in traditional Rabelo boats from Rgua, to the famous wine lodges,
located along the river banques.
Oporto is an industrial and commercial town. Its people are known as independente and hardworking. There are many ancient walls, old buildings and quarters where you can observe many
local traditions. At the same time, up and down its streets, there are interesting mixtures of old
and new houses. As in every modern city, there are also newly built areas with all modern
conveniences that make life in Oporto exciting and agreable. It is a combination of old tradtitions
and modern life-style.
