Miss Phathupats

In the introduction of the story it is describe that Miss Yeyeng is a poor

kapangpangan who is selling cooked foods to earn for a living. She could be seen
with a load of foods in her head. She turns out to be a lady with no chance on
changing her lifes condition. Yeyeng happened to have an American soldier
customer and quite frankly they didnt understand each other. The soldier invited
her to school to learn. She didnt know how to speak English and on that
experience she was forced to learn the language. In this story it is set in American
occupation wherein the American soldiers on that time teach the natives to learn
the English language. The time pass by yeyeng forgot where she came from and
she rarely speaks her native language and pretends she forgotten how to speak
kapangpangan and thats why the people give her an alias Miss Phathupats. In the
climax of the story, Miss phathupats got humiliated in the festival by making a
statement with a grammatically error. In that moment she was furious that the
words that came to her mouth are filthy words in kapangpangan.
