Students work individually to come up with words or phrases that relate to the concept of discovery. Poll must be activated from the actual website (https://www.polleverywhere.com/) Use a projector to display the Poll to the class to see everyones answers appear. Activity 2 Rubric Activity: Google document where all students (no login required) can edit the document Students highlight key words and add them to their word cloud (activity 1) They then have to use at least 5 words/phrases and write a paragraph about discovery. Please note that the submission box is private and only the teacher has access. Activity 3 Storyboard: This activity is an interactive storyboard where students designed their own three frame story about discovering something. There are two accompanying writing tasks: One is creative submission describing the story. The second is a justification of visual elements used. Group Activity 1 - Trailer and Answer Garden: work/ Students watch the trailer and use and the film itself to answer questions and create a brainstorm Individual about the movie. The answer gardens can be moderated from the actual website (https://answergarden.com/) Activity 2 Discussion Activities Students work in groups to answer and discuss the questions listed in the answer gardens. Activity 3 Quiz: Students complete the quiz. Pair work/ Activity 1 Cinematic/visual techniques: individual Students view a Prezi on film techniques and then submit their answers to a quick quiz. The submissions can only be viewed by the teacher. Activity 2 Annotation Students use Drawing Tool to upload a still image from a scene of the movie, and annotate it. Activity 3 Assessment Task
Here, teachers can assess their students knowledge via a written response. Students watch a quick instructional video about the task requirements. Then, they submit a 600-700 word response on film techniques in the submissions box. Activity 1 Additional texts This page is an introduction to the nature of related texts and provides a scaffold for students to use while finding and analysing their related material. Activity 2 Sample Related Texts Students respond to one of two provided additional texts (The Boat by Nam Le or My Kid and Me by Casey Neistat) through a submissions box. Activity 3 - Find your own! Students use the prompts to find their own additional text and submit their chosen text to the classroom teacher in the submissions box. Activity 3 Formulating a paragraph When students have chosen their sample related material from the previous page, they begin to analyse and form ideas on it. Students then use the PETAL framework to transfer their analysis into a formulated paragraph. These then are submitted to the page via the comment button on the post.
