My boyfriend David and I didn't know what to do. So we found gateway. At first I didn't know what to expect going into gateway. I thought I would've been judged for being pregnant at 18 years old, But it was different. A lady named Sarah spoke to me. She spoke only words of kindness. And a man named Dean spoke to David. And all he spoke was positive words. ‘Time went on and only David's family knew I was pregnant. They were supportive. But I was so afaid to speak to my family. Then I finally spoke to my family and they were mad. So I shut down and wouldn't speak to anyone. The team at gateway would call me making sure I was okay. Dean spoke to my family and they became supportive too. I was happy. It was my senior year in high school and I made it my goal to graduate. T prncuated the class of 2016 and crew at gateway supported me every step ofthe way and Iam beyond grateful o have met them. They were akvays so kind to me and supportive ‘They even threw me a baby shower. I cried the day I went home from the baby shower. Just because Iwas so happy to have such kind people in my life. Tam beyond grateful for the help of gateway. ‘Thank you again gateway I don't know what I would've done without yout help. 8 A gteat way to help Gateway SENSE BES Toes 1 Who benefits: Gateway obviously © The women we serve ~The ladies who attend get to hear about the ministry ~ They are encouraged to do something tangible for the women Gateway serves. Ea, age 32 came to Gateway Irvington in late August. While his gitlftiend (age 21) was being counseled we spoke with Ed about faith in Christ. He reminded us that he had been to Gateway a few years ago with another git! (who was Hindu). We had spoken with him about the Lord. We checked the paperwork on that visit and continued the conversation about Christ. Ed reiterated that he was ‘open to all religions’. We quoted John 14:6 and asked if he thought Jesus was a liar, or misguided (a lunatic) or Lord of all? He stated he didn’t think Jesus was lying. We shared a word of testimony and asked him what were the chances that he'd show up twice at the same pregnancy center with two different girls and hear the same message about salvation. She was not married to boyfriend, Jorge. She had not told her family that she is pregnant because she is afraid of her father. Her mother cannot control him. She spoke of having an abortion, only because she is so afraid of her father. Both families go to the same church, Michael, counselled the Jorge, then sat together with JoAnn to come to resolution to prevent the abortion. Rosa agreed that she would go to her Pastor with a repentant heart and tell him everything that has been going on. Her pastor made an appointment with her mother and father and Jorge’s parents. Rose and Jorge were very happy with this decision. JoAnn called Rosa back as a follow-up to their conversation. She and Jorge actually got married and things are going very well for them. They both were so grateful for our help and the counseling given to them, Gateway made a HUGE difference in this couple! Dean Gavaris God cares about the women we see in Irvington and Elizabeth, We share Christ personally with each of the 1,600 plus women and over 150 men we see each year and that number keeps rising. I think most of you know that Gateway isn’t just a “good work’ ~ it’s the work of ambassadors instructed by God to reach out with the truth that changes hearts. That's the message. That's the mission. That's the reason why we are still on this planet. In the past 31 years of ministry, Gateway has performed over 950 sonograms, trained over 675 volunteers, made more than 375 church presentations, and given out about eight tons of baby items. We have also seen hundreds of boyfriends or husbands and have spoken to tens of thousands about the sanctity of life and the urgency of trusting in the finished work of Christ. : ea 2 Ministry in dozens as well as at health fairs Training dozens of volunteers of churches to help men and women 2016 so far has been a fruitful year at Gateway. Through September, we have seen 1,265 women and 142 men who have been individually counseled. That’s 33,106 since the ministry began in 1985. We have shared the gospel with the vast majority of them. 343 have trusted Christ and another 42 have rededicated their lives to Christ, this year alone. That’s 3,506 lives that have trusted Christ in our 31 years of ministry. More than 466 babies are known to have been born in just the first nine months of 2016 between our two locations (Irvington and Elizabeth, NJ). That's 4,480 babies saved from abortion in our three decades plus of ministry. No matter who is elected President in just 12 days, spiritual lives hang in the balance, as do the babies we serve through our counseling of men and women during their crisis, pregnancy. As the days draw nearer to the return of Jesus Christ, will you commit to continue supporting this life saving work? At Gateway we seek to reach hearts, not just change attitudes. As we say often, it's transformation, not reformation that is the need. It’s simply not enough to care for the least (the unborn babies), we need to reach the lost - their mothers and their fathers for Christ, before it’s too late ~ and that is exactly what Gateway has been doing for the past 31 years. So, why ‘Babies Feel Pain’ magnets when our mission is to share Christ with women in a crisis pregnancy? Our focus is seeing ‘women come to Christ. This is unique among pregnancy centers nationally; only 10% of all pregnancy centers share the gospel. Without Christ, men and women are lost. Sharing the message that babies, made in His image, feel pain, underscores the need to be involved in this unique ministry “for such a time as this”. Real babies feel real pain and Gateway speaks up for them. But, without sharing the gospel to their moms and dads, we are losing precious God-ordained opportunities to share the REAL: message of life with them. Our motto, “You might be prolife, but do you have eternal life?” ‘The Amazing Grace of God goes way beyond just physical birth. His Grace extends to the non- innocents, you and me, and allows us to be reconnected to the God who created us. Yes, “babies feel pain’ but praise God that there’s a place that their parents can learn not only about “a better way” but also have the opportunity to trust Christ as Savior. One of the questions we’ ve been asking for years: “You may be prolife, but do you have eternal life?” Folks need to respond to the gospel, they need to make a decision before it’s too late, but they first need to hear, and Gateway / you are the ambassadors that help them hear. Romans 1:16 says this~ ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to ‘everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Could it be that we too, when reaching out to the lost are so conscious of ‘offending’ that we neglect to share with them the only message that will free them from their slavery to sin and give them eternal life? Yes, God cares for the preborn babies, the least and most vulnerable of human beings, but He also cares about their mothers and their mothers husband or boyfriend. He cares about the souls, of the abortionists who are not our enemies, but do need forgiveness. This speaks of Grace. 1g grace’. “This is am: In the past twelve months ... Both are studying ESL ata local church, Both trusted Christ as Savior and Lond on Friday April 29, 2016, leaving behind their Hindu Presenting the gospel so that He may change hearts Humility is defined as the ability to understand one’s position before God. We are building His kingdom, not our ministry. We are seeking the salvation of others, not ‘trophies’ for our own glory. We are ambassadors for Christ, not self-sent activists (2 Cor. 5:20). We attempt to change hearts, not behavior. We bring the need for Christ to the individual heart, not the demands of Christian living to a non-Christian society. We allow Jesus to transform lives, rather than impose reform on society (1 Cor. 7:10). Although sharing the pro-life message is part of Christian discipleship, it is not the message of the Gospel. The gospel (good news) is that Jesus saves, not that we are to save babies. It’s all about focus. If our focus is to bring Jesus to the lost, we have an eternal ministry: if our focus is only to change minds and hearts on abortion, we have a temporal focus and an impossible task. Only the Holy Spirit can change a heart. Gateway challenges men and women to commit their hearts and lives to a person (Jesus Christ) not to a change in behavior. Turning over a new leaf can never compare to turning over one’s life to the God who made them and loves them and is willing to forgive them. What is your focus in ministry — reformation or transformation? If it’s the later, join us at Gateway as we bring the gospel of eternal life to hearts prepared by a loving God. Where are they now? Share / Challenge / Present the gospel 16 2 years later! Alice came to Gateway Irvington in 1998. She claimed she was a believer from Guyana. Alice was married, 33 years old and undecided about whether to abort or carry their baby. Our late volunteer, Violet Brown encouraged her to catry to term, but Alice ultimately aborted the baby. Alice had had 7 pregnancies, 4 live bieths, 2 ‘miscarriages and one abortion by the time she came to Gateway in 1998. Fast forward 16 ¥ year later. Marsha, Alice’s 29 year old daughter came to Gateway. She is a new believer who just had a baby. Something to think about Is your life all that it could be? Ever wonder if there is more? In a world of fear and anger, self and rebellion, you can have the joy and peace knowing Christ in a personal way, and being assured of heaven. THE SCRIPTURES SAY: “There is not a single man who is righteous; there is not one who understands, or who seeks for God. All men have turned away from God, they have all gone wrong. None is good, not evens one.” But, can’t good works assure me of eternal life? We may give to a charitable cause... or volunteer at church... These are important and good, yet they can’t get us into heaven... They are no solution to our problem of sin, They in no way give us the abundant life Jesus Christ wants us to have. WHY??? Because. WE ARE ALL SINNERS BEFORE GOD: Romans 3:23 tells us - "All men have sinned and are far away from God's saving presence.” THE CONSEQUE! 'S OF SIN IS SPIRITUAL DEAT! “For the wages of sin in death (spiritual death), but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23) WE CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES: “For by grace have you been saved (from eternal death) through faith; and that not yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, that no one should boast.” (Eph. 28-9) No one can climb their way to heaven. None of us are worthy of, obtaining eternal life. In John 3:3, we read about a very, very religious person named Nicodemus. Yet, Jesus said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to ‘you unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” 27 Do you know how to e “Born Again” Is it by going to a particular church? Being baptized? Good works? The Golden Rule? Just felling regrets/sorry? NO! By acknowledging your sin and rebellion to God, trusting in His finished work on the cross, and asking Him personally to take over the control of your life, you can be assured that your sins are forgiven... and that you have ETERNAL LIFE! The Bible tells us... “For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God...” (I Peter 3:18) The purpose of Christ’s coming to each was to give us the way to obtain ETERNAL LIFE, through trusting in Christ. “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar.” *I" John 1:8-10). “He that believeth (trusts) not the Son (as personal Savior) shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth in him.” (John 3:36). Christ, the Good Shepherd, also came “... in order that they (you and I) might have life, life in all its fullness.” (John 10:10) IF YOU WERE TO DIE TONIGHT, WHERE WOULD YOU SPEND ETERNITY? If you are unsure that you have ETERNAL LIFE, pray a prayer similar to this one below, and be sure! “Lord, I confess I ama sinner. I recognize that I can do nothing to save myself from an eternity in hell. Thank YOU for dying on the cross for my sins. I now repent of my sins and trust in you (Jesus Christ) to be my Savior and Lord of my life, and hereby commit my life to you for all eternity.” Feel free to contact us at: dean@gateway.org, if you would like to know more about a personal relationship with the God who created you! 28 Calvan i assem oe “Thank You, Gateway, for all that you do!
