The most important development in Canadas history is its
international trade policies with all countries, especially
the United States of America. These policies, which have
helped Canada to become a world leader and most
importantly a G8 country.
Canada's Free Trade Agreements is one of the most
important policies. An FTA enables you to compete on a more
even playing field with local firms in the FTA partner country.
Under an FTA, a range of Canadian goods and services benefit
from the reduction or elimination of tariff and non-tariff
barriers to trade, such as quotas or technical barriers. It is
important to note that each FTA covers different industry
sectors and contains different provisions, depending on the
FTA partner. For example, some of Canadas more recent FTAs
go beyond traditional trade barriers to cover business
practices in labor mobility, intellectual property and
investment. For example Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement

(CKFTA) The CKFTA entered into force on January 1, 2015.

This landmark agreement constitutes Canadas first free
trade agreement in the Asia-Pacific region and provides
new access for Canadian businesses and workers to the
worlds 15th-largest economy and the fourth largest in
Asia. In fact, the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement is
projected to create thousands of jobs for hardworking
Canadians by boosting Canadas economy by $1.7 billion
and increase Canadian exports to South Korea by 32
percent. South Korea is not only a major economic player
in its own right and a key market for Canada; it also
serves as a gateway for Canadian businesses and workers
into the dynamic Asia-Pacific region as a whole.
Furthermore, Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection
(FIPAs) is also a significant one for Canadas economy. It
aimed at protecting and promoting foreign investment
through legally binding rights and obligations. FIPAs
accomplish their objectives by setting out the respective
rights and obligations of the countries that are signatories

to the treaty with respect to the treatment of foreign

investment. Such as Agreement Between the Government of
Canada and the Government of the Republic of Argentina for the
Promotion and Protection of Investments. The Government of
Canada and the Government of the Republic of Argentina,
hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Parties",
Recognizing that the promotion and the protection of
investments of investors of one Contracting Party in the
territory of the other Contracting Party will be conducive
to the stimulation of business initiative and to the
development of economic cooperation between them,
Air Transport Agreements (ATAs) On November 27, 2006,
the Blue Sky policy was officially adopted by the

has concluded new or expanded Air Transport Agreements
covering over 80 countries. Open Skies-type agreements
with 16 countries Expanded agreements with 20 countries.

will
continue
to
negotiate new and expanded agreements to promote the
