More Than, Less Than, and Equal To

On Monday, October 31, 2016, I taught 23 little pupils that were at the foundational stage of
KG2 a mathematical lesson of more than, less than, and equal to. The little students were of
Sama American Private School. I had a lesson plan that I made and checked deeply before giving
the actual lesson. Ms. Olga Hattab (my monitor school teacher) knew about all the actions that I
would do when giving the lesson before the day of Monday which means that she knew about
my plans on Sunday, October 30, 2016. I contacted with her deeply in the school and on the
phone (via WhatsApp) to make sure that my plans were appropriate to be given to little students
that from the beginning of the class until it ended. In addition, Ms. Olga Hattab did help me in
observing the students while they were completing the differentiated activates. She also took
pictures of me and students during the entire class. The pictures were taken for me. All of her
contributions made me feel glad and relaxed.
I can assure that I made a success in delivering the lesson of more than, less than, and equal to
to the 23 pupils where I saw them participating, responding to me (the teacher) when I was
asking questions, asking questions, and completing all the duties of me and activities that I gave
to them to complete. The plan that I designed by myself allowed my lesson to be delivered
successfully due to its strong hold of all the lessons parts where it made all the lessons parts
worth (it made the lessons parts worthy things to keep eyes on and include and powerful tools to
be used). I had a discussion with the students to engage them within the lesson. I had the little
pupils observing, exploring, and explaining their questions and found answers. I also had
differentiated activities that enabled the little pupils to learn and extend their prior and gained
knowledge more. My lesson plan depended mainly on the 5E instructional model that is
considered to be always included in lessons parts due to its various contributions in producing
complete and interesting lessons (5Es Overview: The 5E instructional model, n.d.). The five
stages of the 5E instructional model are: engage, explore, explain, elaborate or extend, and
evaluate. As it was mentioned, to engage students, a discussion was made. The discussion
involved comparison. Students were used to make examples of comparison. It was talked about
sizes of bodys parts, heights of students, and colours of students hair. Students could count
colored eyes (artificial ones). The pupils thought of that if the numbers of the eyes were greater
than, less than, or equal to each other. They all answered correctly and agreed on their answers.
That made me happy. I could notice how students were smart. All pupils could explore the used
living and non-living things of students and artificial eyes by looking at them deeply, thinking of
them deeply, and touching them. Pupils could explain their discoveries and answers or
understanding when they responded to the teachers questions. Students knowledge of more
than, less than, and equal to was extended by talking about hanged objects of the classroom such
as stars and students projects. Students knowledge of the topic was also extended by three
differentiated activities, and the three differentiated activities did help in evaluating students
understanding. The three activities did not only show that if the pupils understood the lesson, but
it also allowed the pupils to practice and use their gained knowledge. My MST and all the 23
students were involved and engaged strongly within the entire lesson. The objectives of the
lesson were all achieved successfully where the pupils could compare between things correctly

and could recognize and identify the words of more than, less than, and equal to. My teaching
way and ideas were loved by my MST and pupils. They all praised me in a nice way, and I was
fully happy because of that. My lovely MST gave me excellent in all the areas of planning for
learning, managing learning, implementing learning, and assessment. If I teach the lesson again,
I will use the same lesson plan and materials where they allowed me to deliver the lesson to
students wonderfully (the lesson was loved and exciting), and I will not change any part of it due
to not facing any dilemmas while giving the lesson to pupils. Nothing made me disappointed and
feel lost which means that I was glad and satisfied about my entire lesson and class.
I have reflected about my teaching way and lesson in the above paragraph. The overall feeling
that I had about my teaching and lesson was totally satisfying.
