ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

A research work owes its success from commencement to completion, to the people in
love with researchers at various stages. Let me in this page express my gratitude to all those
who Helped us in various stage of this study. First, I would like to express my sincere
gratitude Indebtedness to HOD (Department of electronics engineering, Mahamaya Poly
Technique, Hathras ) for allowing me to undergo the summer training of 04 Weeks at North
Central Railway ,Tundla. I am grateful to our guide Er. Sushil Kumar for the help provided
in completion of the training, which was assigned to me. Without his friendly help and
guidance it was difficult to develop this training.
Last but not least, I pay my sincere thanks and gratitude to all the workers of
Telecommunication Department of NCR Tundla for their support and for making my training
valuable and fruitful.

Abstract

Indian Railways has the largest rail network in Asia and the world's second largest
under one management, transporting 20.Indian Railways is divided into zones, which are
further sub-divided into divisions. The number of zones in Indian Railways increased from six
to eight in 1951, nine in 1952, and finally 16 in 2003. Each zonal railway is made up of a
certain number of divisions, each having a divisional headquarters. There are a total of sixtyseven divisions. Tundla is the part of NCR railway, it control all the train starting from GZB
(Gaziabad) to MGS (Mugalsaria).
Telecommunication department is the backbone of railway and without it train can
not run single feet on the track. It has departments control room, testing room, and
exchangse room. Each department has its own specific work. Each department use different
devices for communication from one station to another. CONTROL ROOM is playing very
important role for train. Without information of the control room train cant move from one
place to another place. Testing room is connected with control room , this department checks
and repairs the problems of all stations which are connected with the control room. Exchange
make IRIS IVDX which is based on ISDN (integrator services digital network).
Data circuit is consist of PRS(passenger reservation system), UTS(unreserved
ticketing system), NTES(national train enquiry system), Rail net. Reserved travel by Indian
Railways is facilitated by the Passenger Reservation System (PRS).UTS Railways using the
unreserved journey facility. An unreserved ticket authorizes these journeys but as the name
implies, offers no reserved seats or berths. National Train Enquiry System (NTES) is an
integral part of Integrated Coaching Management System developed and maintained by
CRIS.(CENTRE FOR RAILWAY INFORMATION SYSTEMS). Railway has its own network
site which is called intranet. It also can connect with internet.
