The problems start on page 2.

1. There are seven letters in AMERICA, six of which are distinct. How many ways can we
arrange these seven letters such that the R and I are not right next to each other?
2. If 15! = 130767A368000 for some digit A, find A.

3. Two functions, f and g, are defined as f (x) + f (y) = f (xy) and g(x) g(y) = g(x + y)
for x, y > 0. If f (2015) = 1 and g(1) = 2015, then find f (g(f (5)) g(f (13)) g(f (31))).
4. Five fair six-sided dice are rolled. What is the expected value of the cube of the number
of distinct numbers that end up face up? For example, if the numbers 1, 5, 2, 1, and 5
show up, there have been 3 distinct numbers that end up face up, so the cube of that is
27.

5. In triangle ABC, AB = 25, AC = 17, and BC = 28. Angle bisector of B, BE, intersects
.
altitude AD at G. A line through C and G intersects AB at F . Find CG
GF
6. If x and y are real numbers that satisfy 2x3 +0x2 +1x+5 = 0 and 2y 3 18y 2 +55y62 = 0,
find x + y.

7. Find the largest integer n such that (52 )( ) (32 )( ) divided by 2n is an even integer.

8. An ellipse in the coordinate plane has a focus at (2014, 2015). The average distance
from a point on the ellipse to this focus is 75, and the range of distances from a point
on the ellipse to this focus is [30, 120]. If y is the y-coordinate of the point on the ellipse
furthest away from the x-axis, find the least possible value of y.

9. Given that 100.20898764 1.61803399 and 100.698970004 5, find the number of digits in
F2015 . Note: the sequence Fn is defined over positive integral n as Fn = Fn1 + Fn2 and
F1 = F2 = 1. Another way to write Fn is

P = n2 n2 36 n2 100 n2 400 n2 + 28n 60
for some integer n > 20. Find the least possible number of factors of P .
