SUPERIMPOSITION:
At the dawn of time, one of the Great Creators was
travelling throughout the galaxy, turning darkness and empty
space into solar systems which could harbor life in all its
forms.
It encountered great pressure as it neared the furthermost
reaches of the universe. The pressure was too great to bear,
even for one so powerful as a Great Creator.
Made of minerals still unknown to mankind, the Great Creator
was reshaped by the immense forces into a Kamidogu no bigger
than a diamond.
Time passed and the Kamidogu floated aimlessly throughout
the universe, until one day it landed on a planet named
Edenia. The Kamidogu craved someone worthy to carry it, its
bearer would be granted immortality and God like powers.
Beings of worth were summoned to a magical island where they
were given abilities that matched the fabric of their soul.
It was here the Kamidogu would test them. Let the tournament
begin.
INT. DESERTED ISLAND - CAVERN, GOROS LAIR. DAY
FADE IN
The flames from a torch flicker against the dirty walls of
the cave entrance. Cobwebs and stalactites hang from the
roof, they criss-cross the path ahead.
KUNG LAO (32), a Chinese man wearing a black sleeveless
leather jerkin, black pants, knee length boots and a round
hat with a razor sharp steel rim carries the torch. He wades
through knee length water, holding the torch up high to
illuminate the interior of the cavern. Apart from the
hundreds of BATS on the ceiling, the cavern appears to be
empty.
Kung Lao is beading sweat, he seems on edge. His movements
are slow and cautious as he walks towards the exit of the
main cavern chamber.
A GRUNT is heard from a dark recess to Kung Laos left.
Startled and a little jumpy, he turns to shine the torch on
the dark area. Movement can be seen, it is unrecognizable.
Something big lurks in the shadows.
Kung Lao turns and races for the exit, he scrambles up the
ledge on the other side and desperately tries to pull
himself up. In his attempt to rise, he drops his torch on
the ledge.

Heavy FOOTSTEPS can be heard splashing in the water behind

Kung Lao. Finally he grabs the ledge and hauls himself up on
it. As he picks up the torch we see what has been chasing
him standing in the middle of the cavern.
GORO, a giant nine foot tall humanoid stands semi naked,
with its four arms raised. It is heavily muscled and wears
only a loin cloth and a small red sash around its waste as a
belt. Each hand has only three large thick powerful fingers.
Its black hair is tied up high like a samurais top knot.
Despite its monstrous appearance, the voice that resonates
from its large mouth radiates intelligence.
GORO
I cannot let you pass.
Kung Lao, eyes wide and clearly shocked places his torch in
a crevice in the cave wall and turns to face Goro.
KUNG LAO
Does it not call you also? I must
have it!
GORO
The power would destroy you - as it
once destroyed me. (looking down at
his arms) Turn back now.
KUNG LAO
Where would I go? I dont even know
where this place is, its certainly
not Earth. The Kamidogu promises...
GORO
I know what it whispers to you. It
brought you here, as it brought me
here many years ago. Leave now and
I will spare your life.
Kung Lao stands there for a few seconds and stares at Goro.
He dips his head, then in one lightning fast motion he grabs
the brim of his hat and flicks it like a frizbee at the
monster before him.
Goro anticipates the move and ducks. The hat slices through
his hair and shaves an inch from the top. Like a boomerang
it returns to Kung Lao, who catches it expertly, avoiding
the razor sharp rim.
Goro, runs towards Kung Lao - bellowing a WAR CRY as he
leaps high in the air and thunders down an earth shaking
tremor that crumbles the ledge Kung Lao was standing on.

Before the ledge breaks, Kung Lao leaps high into the air
and drops a thunderous kick into the face of Goro, who
stumbles and almost falls. Kung Lao removes his hat and
throws it while Goro is trying to regain his balance. With
cat-like grace, Goro deftly sidesteps the hat then jumps
high in the air to avoid its return. Once again Kung Lao
catches his hat and begins to fight with martial arts.
Kung Lao appears to have the upper hand as Goro back steps
and tries to avoid his quick attacks. Then Goro is hit in
the head by a round house kick. This angers Goro to the
point that he ROARS back in defiance and moves in with his
arms outstretched. Kung Lao throws a high punch which is
caught by one of Goros arms. He tries to break free by
throwing another punch with his other arm, but Goro catches
this one too. Goro picks Kung Lao up and shakes him
violently. Kung Lao tries to headbutt Goro with his hat, but
Goro sways back and it misses. With another mighty roar,
Goro RIPS Kung Laos arms out of their sockets, causing Kung
Lao to fall to the ground. He screams out in pain and flails
about in the ground in agony. Using the arms as a weapon, we
see a silhouette of Goro bashing the dieing Kung Lao to
death with his own arms.
FADE OUT
SUPERIMPOSITION: 500 Years Later
INT. SHAOLIN MONASTERY. DAY
LIU KANG (28), dressed only in black pants and a black head
band lights a candle and places it on a low ledge inside the
monastery. He sits before it, cross legged and meditates.
BO RAI CHO (44), a fat black bearded man enters, wearing
brown robes with stains down the front.
Bo Rai Cho BURPS loudly as he enters.
CLOSE UP: Liu Kangs eyebrows furrow in annoyance as the
older man walks up to stand behind him.
BO RAI CHO
(jovially)
I hope Im not interrupting
anything important here.
Liu Kang does not reply. His eyes are still closed, though
he still appears annoyed.

BO RAI CHO
Anyway I thought Id check in on
you. I heard you were up last night
with nightmares again.
CLOSE UP: Opening his eyes, Liu Kang turns to face Bo Rai
Cho.
LIU KANG
They arent nightmares Bo Rai.
Like I told you yesterday, its as
if my spirit is being dragged out
of my body - I cant explain it..
BO RAI CHO
Have you been drinking? I get like
that sometimes when Ive had a few
to drink!
LIU KANG
(smiles)
Not all of us need to get drunk
every night Bo Rai.
Bo Rai Cho reaches down and grabs Liu Kang by the bicep. He
gives his muscled arms a bit of a squeeze, then turns the
arm over and inspects it.
LIU KANG
What are you doing?
BO RAI CHO
Just checking. You know I once
heard about this wrestler who took
steroids and went crazy - killed
his whole family then killed
himself.
LIU KANG
I dont have time for this Bo Rai
Cho. What time did you want me to
demonstrate the next lesson to the
students?
BO RAI CHO
Now seems like a good time, theyre
waiting outside.
Liu Kang rises and slaps the fat man on the back. They both
turn and leave the monastery together.
CUT TO:

5.
EXT. MOUNT EVEREST. DAY
A group of three, comprising of two men (30,31) and one
woman (29), are walking up a snow laden trail towards the
peak of Mount Everest. All three are wearing masks to cover
their mouths from the cold air theyre breathing in. The
woman stops briefly to catch her breath.
FIRST MAN
Do you need help?
SECOND MAN
Leave her brother. Their is no
place for the weak amongst the Lin
Kuei.
The woman seems more determined to go on after this and
continues to push forward. Soon they reach the summit and
drop their gear. The first man checks his watch.
SECOND MAN
Thats a new record, the master
will be pleased.
FIRST MAN
Should we set up camp here or begin
out descent?
WOMAN
There was a safe place to camp
about three hundred meters down the
trail. We could camp there.
The second man removes his thick coat, revealing a blue
double breasted sleeveless jacket underneath. He sits the
jacket on the ground and turns to face the other two.
SECOND MAN
First, we train.
The woman looks at the first man, it is a look of doubt.
WOMAN
You will die of hypothermia if you
dont get that coat back on. Its
well below sub zero temperatures up
here. You could freeze to death.
The second man ignores her.
SECOND MAN
(looking to the first man)
What do you see in this woman,
brother?

The woman removes her hood to reveal short white hair. She
stares at the second man with pure hatred.
FIRST MAN
Maybe its the frosty looks she
gives you that I like so much.
Shes right though, there is
nothing more to prove here, we
should move off the peak and camp
for the night further down.
The Second Man grabs his coat and pulls it on as the other
two begin to move back down the trail.
CUT TO:
INT. MAIN HALL - SHANG TSUNGS PALACE. DAY
The hall is luxuriously decorated with fine artworks, marble
pillars and exotic rugs. On either side of the room are two
large colorful tapestries. At the head of the room is an
enormous fireplace surrounded by leather lounges and plush
comfortable chairs. A window looks out on the neatly kept
lawns outside the estate. Seated before the window in a
chair that looks more like a throne is SHANG TSUNG (80),
dressed in a crimson robe with gold thread. His white wispy
hair is swept back, his face is like old weathered leather.
His eyes are white, with a small, almost non existent black
dot in the center.
In Shang Tsungs hands is a SCROLL, it looks ancient. After
he reads it, he wraps it back up and places it carefully
inside the tube by his side.
Shang Tsung claps twice and a BEAUTIFUL WOMAN (25) enters
the room. She is wearing a pink veil to cover her mouth. Her
outfit is a mixture of pink and purple, though it just
barely covers her curvaceous body.
Shang Tsung looks her up and down appreciatively, then licks
his lips seductively. The effect is anything but seductive.
The woman seems to like it though and bats her eyelashes at
him.
SHANG TSUNG
(quietly)
Find Reptile. The time has come.
The woman curtsies before him, her movements are slow and
sexy.

BEAUTIFUL WOMAN
(the words are slurred, and
difficult to understand)
Yes, my Lord.
CUT TO:
EXT. MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON YARD - JAPAN. NIGHT
HANZO HASASHI (30), completely covered in black ninja
attire, moves stealthily through the grounds of the prison.
The cover of darkness provides him with plenty of shadows to
move between.
Unslinging his cross bow, he takes out a bolt with a fine
high density rope attached to its end and fires it up over
the concrete wall before him. The arrow hits a wall and the
tip springs out to release a four sided grappling head.
Hanzo pulls the rope gently until it catches on a guard
rail. After testing his weight, he uses his incredible upper
body strength to pull himself up on the wall. Once there, he
quickly pulls the rope together and moves forward on the
wall, using darkness to cover his movements.
A gatehouse is before him with two guards inside in. They
are chatting to one another as they watch Takeshis Castle
on the television, almost completely ignoring the security
cameras. Hanzo sneaks into the guard house and breaks their
necks. His movements are fast and deliberate, neither guard
has a chance to defend himself.
Hanzo locates a button on the control panel before him and
pushes it in. This slides a great steel door open, which he
quickly enters.
CUT TO:
INT. MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON. NIGHT
Once inside the prison, Hanzo hits the door button on the
inside which causes it to close. He quickly sits at the
entrance and withdraws the schematics for the prison from
inside the pocket of his pants. A circle has been drawn
around the cell room he needs to find. He quickly moves
through the corridors of the prison. A guard spots him and
reaches for his baton, but Hanzo is too fast and kills him
before he manages to draw it out.
Hanzo checks his schematics again, then looks down. He moves
to the edge of the walkway and looks down. From here we see
he is several levels above ground. By swinging his body over

the guard rail, he lowers himself down to the ledge then

swings inwards, landing on the walkway of the floor below.
From the schematics we know hes after room 63. He moves
along the walkway - 65, 64... 63. Each prison cell has a
solid steel door barring the entrance. There are no bars
here, but a small plate can be lowered to pass food through
for the prisoners. Hanzo walks up to the plate and knocks on
the door.
KAZUKI ANZAI
(in Japanese)
What the fuck do you want?
Hanzo has removed his cross bow again and has fitted the
bolt with the cord attached to it. He opens the plate and
looks inside.
HANZO HASASHI
Get over here!
As KAZUKI ANZAI walks into view, Hanzo fires the bolt
through the hole. It punches right through Kazukis throat
and out the other side. Hanzo pulls the string until the
dieing man on the other side is only separated from his face
by the door itself.
Hanzo says nothing, he just stares into the eyes of the
dieing man, relishing in the look of pain and despair on his
face.
The prison alarm siren starts to wail. Guards from either
side of the walkway suddenly enter. They are dressed in riot
gear and have their guns drawn. Hanzo pulls a smoke grenade
out of his pocket and throws it on the ground. The men fire
from either, but Hanzo has back flipped over the edge and
swung down to the next level. He repeats this until hes on
the ground level. The sudden chaos and sounds of men
SHOUTING provide him with the cover he needs to move into
the main guard room on the bottom level. He kills the guards
inside with their own weapons and uses the panel inside to
open the main door. He shuts down the other doors,
preventing the guards inside from chasing him. Quickly, he
runs from the prison and is swallowed up in the darkness of
the night outside.
FADE OUT:

9.
INT. MOVIE TRAILER. DAY
JOHNNY CAGE (28) is sitting in the most luxurious trailer
money can buy. Inside is a sixty inch LCD television playing
a boxing match. Johnny picks up his mobile phone and dials
one digit. He has it set on hands free.
JOHNNY CAGE
Get my Manager in here, now.
He puts the phone down and picks up the remote to flick
between the channels. On each station is a different form of
fighting program: martial arts, sumo wrestling, boxing etc..
We hear a KNOCK at the door.
JOHNNY CAGE
Get in here Joe.
As the door opens, we see a dozen pretty girls lined up
outside his trailer. They all scream when they see Johnny
inside.
JOHNNY CAGES GROUPIES
I love you Johnny! Can you sign my
shirt? Let me come in and help you
relax Johnny!
JOE (40) pushes them down and enters the trailer. Johnny
doesnt bother to get up, he keeps watching the television
as he speaks.
JOE
Is there something you need Mr.
Cage?
JOHNNY CAGE
Yeah Joe. Believe it or not I dont
just call you here cause its fun to
hang out with you. You told me last
week that youd get me that Wu Shu
instructor for my next movie. How
am I supposed to get into character
if I dont know Wu Shu? Whats the
hold up?
JOE
Ah yeah about that Mr. Cage, I
tried to get him - I really did. He
lives in some Tibetan Monastery or
something you know.. He wouldnt
even come to the phone. I got a
replacement though...

JOHNNY CAGE
Replacement? I dont want a
replacement Joe, I want that guy.
Ive been taught by the best
fighters in the world. Didnt you
read the article Times Magazine
wrote on me? What makes me so great
is the fact I do all my own stunts.
Christ, if Bruce Lee were alive
today hed wish he were half as
good as me!
JOE
I dont know what to say Mr. Cage,
he aint comin. Maybe if you asked
him personally yourself - maybe
then hed say OK. The whole world
knows who you are, Im sure hed
say yes if you were to ask him..
JOHNNY CAGE
God damn it Joe, do I have to do
everything myself? Go on, get out
of here. Send the two prettiest
girls outside in - this
conversation needs a happy ending.
JOE
Yes Sir, Mr. Cage. Right away Sir.
As Joe leaves, we see him pick two girls (19,20) who enter
the trailer dressed in shorts too small for them and tops
that cling tightly to their breasts.
GIRL ONE
(seductively)
What do you need Johnny?
GIRL TWO
(kisses the other girl)
It must be lonely in here all by
yourself...
JOHNNY CAGE
Ladies, its your lucky day. Im
going to give you an autograph
youll never forget.
FADE OUT

11.

INT. UNDERGROUND FIGHTING TOURNAMENT. NIGHT

Hundreds of people are gathered in a smokey warehouse
converted into a cage fight arena. Rich businessmen sit
beside the dregs of society, all cheering or booing their
fighter inside the cage. Illegal bets are being placed all
of the place as the bookies try to get as much out of their
patrons before the fight ends.
Inside the cage we see a strong black fighter (19) kneeing a
lean Thai fighter (21) in the face. The referee tries to
pull the black man off him, but the black guy just backhands
the referee and continues his assault. The ring is caked in
stale blood. The black man stands up and drags the
unconscious Thai fighter into the center of the ring. He
looks up at a foremans office converted into a box office
for the fights.
KANO (33) stands at the window. He raises his hand and
indicates for the fighter to stop. We watch as Kano leaves
the room and walks down the stairs. Silence falls over the
place as everyone in the room makes a path for Kano to pass
through the crowd. Fear is evident here, they all know who
he is.
He walks up the small steps and opens the cage door, then
steps into the ring with the black fighter and the Thai. A
bowie knife is strapped to his lower leg, he withdraws it
and steps up to the black man. Reversing the blade he hands
it hilt first to the black man.
KANO
Finish him!
The black fighter hesitates as he looks at the knife. The
crowd watches in stunned silence - waiting to see what will
happen next.
The black fighter is too slow.
Kano reverses the knife once more then smashes the blade
into the forehead of the black fighter. It is embedded all
the way up to the hilt in his head. The black fighter
stumbles, his eyes glaze over and he falls to the mat dead.
Kano laughs with joy. He picks up the unconscious Thai
fighter and raises his hand.
KANO
The winna by TKO is.. (he pauses as
he looks down at the beaten and
bloody face of the Thai guy)

KANO (contd)
whoever the fuck this fella is!
Give im a round of applause you
pricks.
The room slowly fills with noise again as everyone nervously
claps.
ZOOM OUT
INT. SPECIAL FORCES OPERATIONS ROOM. NIGHT
CLOSE UP: We see the Thai fighter being paraded around the
ring by Kano. The dead black fighter is surrounded in a pool
of his own blood.
ZOOM OUT: We now see we are watching it on a television
screen.
ZOOM OUT MORE: The room we are in has three people in it:
JAX (30), a black man with a heavyweight body builders
physique, STRYKER (35), a sandy haired white policeman and
SONYA (27), a strong well built woman with long blond hair.
Stryker turns off the television.
STRYKER
Kano is branching out. Underground
cage fighting seems to be his
latest fetish.
JAX
This asshole should have been put
away years ago. Howd you get the
footage?
STRYKER
We have an agent in the Black
Dragon. Hes been providing us with
tip offs for the past week or so.
SONYA
Why werent we told about this
earlier?
STRYKER
Youre lucky Im telling you this
at all Sonya. Spec Ops Intel Branch
dont want you to fuck this up.
Your last partner was killed by
Kano wasnt he?

SONYA
That what they said is it? Where is
Kano now?
STRYKER
Hes on the move. Well notify you
when were ready to move in.
Sonya and Jax look at each other as they grit their teeth.
Stryker leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
JAX
Well get him. Be patient.
FADE OUT
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND. MORNING
HELICOPTER SHOT: The camera breaks through a cloud. Before
us is open ocean, not an island in sight. A thin veil of
mist can be seen in the distance. The camera moves down and
flies into the mist. As the mist breaks, we see a large
deserted island. It is mountainous and dense with thick
vegetation. The camera flies over the island, showing
ancient buildings and a river of fresh water flowing down
from the white capped peaks. This is similar to the island
in Peter Jacksons: King Kong.
Deep in the heart of the forest, surrounded on all sides by
a mountain range is an oasis of beauty. A series of ponds,
complete with large round lilies and beautiful flowers of
every color surround the protected space here. The only sign
of human creation here is a black quartz altar that gleams
with a polished finish.
In the middle of the altar is a Kamidogu, but not just any
Kamidogu. It is perfectly round like an opal yet it glows
more golden than any gold made of this world.
ZOOM IN: The Kamidogu seems to be breathing. If it had a
heart, it would be beating underneath. It PULSES.
INT. LIU KANGS ROOM -

SHOALIN MONASTERY. NIGHT

Liu Kang is asleep on a the ground, a roll out mat the only
bedding he has. He is breathing heavily. He reaches up,
though his eyes do not open. He claws at the air trying to
pull something back down to him. As his arms fall to the
ground, he disappears.
CUT TO:

14.
INT. SNOW TENT - MOUNT EVEREST. DAY
The man and white haired woman sleep side by side in the
tent. The man awakens and rouses the woman beside him. She
sits up and stretches.
WOMAN
Where is your brother?
The man quickly looks around, but his brother is clearly not
there. He unzips the tent and looks about outside.
MAN
(shouts)
Brother?!
He sticks his head back in the tent and looks at the woman.
MAN
Im going to look for him.
The man pulls on his coat, unzips the tent and steps out,
leaving the white haired woman alone.
CUT TO:
INT. LUXURIOUS BEDROOM OF SHANG TSUNG. NIGHT
In a large bed with an expensive quilt covering her body
lays MILEENA. She is still wearing her pink mask, but her
body is naked. She looks for Shang Tsung, but he is not
there.
MILEENA
(distorted)
Shang?
She gets out of the bed and pulls on a robe then heads for
the door to continue her search.
CUT TO:
INT. HANZO HASASHIS APARTMENT ROOM. MORNING
Out of the black garb he wore earlier, Hanzo is now dressed
in the orange and black attire that SCORPION usually wears.
Hanzo Hasashi HEARS a knock at his door. Unlocking a series
of complicated locks, he opens the door but no one is there.
A small BOX sits at the base of the door, wrapped like a
present. He picks the box up and takes it inside.

Carefully, he weighs the box in his hands then places it

near his ear to listen for what might be inside. Satisfied
that its not a bomb, he sits it on the table. By the mantle
piece are two well made katanas. Hanzo removes one and uses
it to cut the ribbon that holds the box together. As he
lifts the lid of the box to look inside, a spring goes off.
Inside the box are a dozen small black scorpions. Their
stingers are green - laced with some kind of poison. The
spring sends them all over Hanzo.
He desperately tries to pat them off, but it is obvious he
is being stung by them. He knocks them to the ground and
steps on them. The poison reacts quickly and he drops to the
ground. His body is convulsing as the scorpions climb all
over him and sting him repeatedly. Suddenly his body
vanishes from sight.
CUT TO:
INT. MOVIE TRAILER. MORNING
The two beautiful groupie girls are naked and lying on the
bed in the movie trailer. They wake at the same moment and
look at each other. They giggle. The first girl gives the
other girl a kiss. Then they both look around for Johnny at
the same time.
GROUPIE GIRLS
(simultaneously)
Johnny??
CUT TO:
EXT. DOCKYARDS - WAREHOUSE. DAY
Special Forces have moved in on the location of Kano and the
Black Dragon. A black hawk helicopter circles the building
outside. At least thirty special agents, all dressed in
black with bullet proof vests have surrounded the warehouse.
Sonya and Jax arrive in a bullet proof van and jump out the
back, both are armed with assault rifles. Police have
barricaded the road and the docks so no one can come or go.
CUT
men
men
but

AWAY: Inside the warehouse we see Kano and thirty of his

getting ready for the siege ahead of them. Some of the
are carrying flame throwers, some have rocket launchers
most have AK-47s or shot guns.

TWO SHOT: Sonya moves around the back of the building with
Jax while Kano sets the timer on a bomb.

Outside we see a NEGOTIATOR (45) take up a MEGAPHONE.

NEGOTIATOR
You are completely surrounded. Come
out with your hands up and no one
will get hurt!
CUT AWAY: We see Kano inside, he has a grin on his face as
he sets the bomb down carefully.
KANO
(yells out jovially)
Id like a Big Mac with a coke and
fries thanks love. Upsize if you
will, Im feel like living
dangerously today!
Inside one of the Special Operations vans we see a YOUNG
AGENT (24) monitoring a thermal imagery device. The screen
on the device cuts the building like an X-ray machine. He
spots a red dot on the display and jumps up immediately.
YOUNG AGENT
(panicked)
Tell them to get out of there
immediately! Theres a bomb! Get
out now!
Another Agent hears this and repeats it on his radio for
everyone else.
Jax gets the message and turns to run for cover. Sonya
ignores the message and kicks the back door in. Just as she
does so, the Black Dragon members turn to face the back
entrance.
Sonya rolls for cover inside and starts shooting the men.
She kills at least six before moving for new cover. The
Black Dragon members keep firing at her. Kano looks at the
timer then back at Sonya.
KANO
(quietly)
See you in hell, bitch.
The timer ticks down: 3, 2....
TWO SHOT: Sonya and Kano suddenly disappear.
CUT TO:

17.

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - BEACH. DAY

Liu Kang wakes up on the beach. It is a sunny day, the
weather is calm. Liu Kang stands up and looks around.
LIU KANG
(softly to himself)
Where am I?
He walks to a nearby tree and leans on it to think. As his
hand touches the tree, smoke and small flames appear on the
bark.
Liu jumps back, startled by the sight. He looks at his
hands.
CLOSE UP: His hands have no burn marks on them.
Liu Kang concentrates for a minute and his hands burst into
flames. He shakes them quickly and they flames disappear.
LIU KANG
I must be dreaming.
He makes the motion of throwing a ball. A ball of fire
erupts from his hands and goes about as far as he would have
thrown a baseball. It hisses into the ocean before it
disappears from sight. Amazed, he does it again, this time
in the air. This ball of fire goes up, then comes back down.
He catches it in his hand then makes it disappear.
LIU KANG
Strange.
To test his new found ability out more, he throws a series
of fireballs. One hits a dead tree and sets it on fire. Liu
tries to put it out but the flames almost burn him. He backs
away from it and lets it burn.
LIU KANG
How odd. The flames do nothing to
me unless they come into contact
with something else. Then its no
different to any other fire which
could burn me.
Liu moves into the dense rain forest.
CUT TO:

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - SNOW CAPPED PEAKS. DAY

The Lin Kuei warrior that went missing on Mount Everest
wakes up. He is still wearing his mask and cowl, but his
coat is gone. The wind howls, bringing snow and cold sleet
with it. The man does not seem to feel the cold at all. The
sleet hits his mask and melts. As it melts it starts to
freeze again, forming mini stalactites of ice on his mask.
The warrior looks down at his forearms. They are tinged with
blue, as if from frostbite. He rubs his hands together and
ice particles begin to gather in the air around his hands.
He throws his arms upwards and channels the air around him.
Ice shoots upwards like a javelin being thrown into the sky.
As it lands, he grabs it from the air and hurls it forward
with all his might. A trail of ice follows it.
SUB ZERO
Whatever this is, Im not giving it
back.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ARID AREA. DAY
Hanzo Hazashi - now SCORPION, awakens in a desert like area.
Cactuss sprout from the red sandy ground. Scorpions eyes
are completely white. He was transported to the island at
the moment of his death and his spirit is caught between
worlds.
From a lying position he rocks back on his shoulders and
flips himself into a standing position.
His right hand is itchy, so he removes the leather arm brace
and glove and inspects the palm of his hand. The center of
his palm splits and opens like an eye.
CLOSE UP: A three pronged horn like talon juts out of the
opening, attached to it are sinew and tendons wrapped around
one another to form a cord of living tissue.
Scorpion inspects the talon. He clenches his fist and the
talon retracts inside his arm. He opens his palm and the
talon creeps forward. A nearby cactus has a flower growing
from the top of it. Scorpion lifts his arm in its direction
then thrusts it forward, opening his palm at the end of the
motion. The talon and cord of muscle and sinew streams out
of his arm and lances right through the top of the cactus.
With a movement of his arm, the cord quickly slithers back
into the opening in his palm.

Pleased with his new toy, Scorpion takes a step forward, his
body shudders and he falls to his knees. He reaches for the
ground and his hand passes through it. He stands up, his
body is almost ephemeral now. Scorpion slips in the sand as
if hes standing in quick sand - sinking up to his waist. By
no sand gives way. Like a ghost, he struggles to stay solid.
Death is calling him. He concentrates and uses his mind to
reappear on firm ground again. Suddenly he teleports a few
feet from where he was falling through the ground.
Shaking his head he sets off on his journey. In the space of
a few seconds he teleports three times and jumps large
distances ahead.
CUT TO:
INT. SMALL ABANDONED HUT. DAY
Johnny Cage finds himself inside a small empty hut, long
since abandoned by whatever owned it before. He walks around
the small room and inspects his surroundings.
JOHNNY CAGE
Wow, this is messed up. Where the
hell am I?
He tries to open the door, but its locked from the outside.
Johnny tries to look out the window, which is covered in
dust and cobwebs. After a quick clean he sees the building
is surrounded by thick vegetation. Standing back, he tries
his patented kick on the door. The kick completely destroys
the door - it is much more powerful than it was before. The
remnants of the door explode outward. Even Johnny Cage is
surprised by the force of his kick. He stands back and tries
it again. Sliding forward, propelled by an unseen force, he
hits a tree outside the hut and knocks it over. The sound
draws the attention of a nearby WILD BOAR. The boar sights
Johnny up and charges for him.
Johnny only notices the boar a mere second or two before it
rips into him. As an instinctive reaction he spins around
with a punch. The punch is too short, yet a WHOOSH of air
smashes into the pig like a build up of super compressed
gas. It knocks the pig thirty feet into the air, killing it
instantly.
Johnny looks down at his arms in wonder. Again he throws an
air punch and a force of pent up energy explodes forward.
JOHNNY CAGE
Impressive! Could make foreplay a
little tricky though.

As Johnny continues to play with his ability, the camera

ZOOMS OUT.
Our VIEW is now taken from high overhead. Below we can see
the energy of Johnny Cage as he practices his various
fighting forms and incorporates his new abilities.
We move further around the island. Still walking through the
rain forest is Liu Kang.
Next we move up through the rain forest to the peaks of the
mountain where Sub Zero is making slowly climbing down a
cliff face.
Further on we see a swampy area. Kano is seen trying to
maneuver between the bog holes and thick reeds that are in
his way. The VIEW ZOOMS IN to follow this progress.
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - SWAMPY MARSH. DAY
MEDIUM SHOT: As Kano parts some bull reeds in his way, we
see him step forward into the shot. A large peat bog is
blocking his way.
He has a look of disgust on his face. Clearly the place
stinks.
KANO
What a fuckin shit hole this place
is. I dunno whats goin on ere but
if this is some crazy pricks idea
of heaven they can shove it up
their arse and send me to hell.
He steps back and attempts to somersault over the bog. As he
hits mid air, his body tightens into a ball and he propels
himself forward. His body is spinning in the air at a rapid
speed. In one movement he not only clears the bog, but the
entire marsh.
On the other side he slows down and lands lightly on his
feet.
KANO
(with a wicked laugh)
Now were talkin. What other
tricks does this place ave?

As Kano keeps moving inland, the camera PULLS back again and
the VIEW is high overhead. All the chosen fighters seem to
be moving in towards the center of the island. The VIEW
pulls around and moves over more forest until we see a
clearing with ancient decaying buildings strewn throughout
it.
We move in to see a a blond woman cautiously walking through
the ruins.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - RUINS. DAY
Sonya jumps onto a platform. She crouches and punches her
arms forward. An explosion of energy shoots forward,
obliterating a chunk of the building before her. She rolls
to the side and repeats the action, this time knocking a
giant STATUE to the ground where it breaks in half.
ZOOM IN: Sonyas eyes show her pent up anger and rage - she
looks ready to kill someone.
SONYA
If this is hell, youve got to be
here somewhere Kano. When Im done
with you, youll wish Satan himself
had found you first.
She repeats her attacks on the ruined buildings, practicing
her aim and range.
FADE OUT
INT. DESERTED ISLAND - CAVE. DAY
Liu Kang enters the cave before him. From inside we see how
dark it is. This cave looks like its in use though, there
are no cobwebs here. Once inside, Liu ducks under the
nearest ledge and looks around inside. Its very dark.
Raising his right arm he clenches his fist and it instantly
becomes engulfed in flames. As if turning down the heat on a
gas stove, Liu regulates the flames so theyre just rolling
around his hand providing a gentle light.
While Liu investigates the cave we see someone is watching
him.
CLOSE UP: In the darkness, we cant make out who he is but
in his eyes we see LIGHTNING crackling around where his
pupils should be be.

Liu Kang freezes where he is. His instincts tell him

something is wrong.
With lightning speed, he spins around - crouches and
releases a fireball that hurtles towards the hiding man in
the darkness. Before the ball of fire hits the man we get
our first glimpse of RAYDEN (40).
Dressed in white clothes, he wears a blue double breasted
vest cut at the waist by a sash. On his head is a round rice
farmers hat. He holds a STAFF in his left hand.
In an instant, he disappears and the ball of fire hits the
wall of the cave where he was standing. Liu Kang increases
the light on his hand and walks towards where he was
standing.
Rayden appears behind Liu Kang and taps him on the shoulder
with his staff. Liu Kang spins around and tries to strike
Rayden with a backhanded punch.
Rayden catches his wrist in mid-flight.
RAYDEN
(voice radiating power)
Enough!
Liu Kang stares at Rayden for a second, uncertain of what to
do next. In the end he relaxes and pulls his arm back.
LIU KANG
Who are you? Where are we?
RAYDEN
I am the God of Thunder, my name is
Rayden. I lack the wisdom to
describe this place. Perhaps the
best way to describe it is as a
battleground.
LIU KANG
(looking at Rayden
quizzically)
God of Thunder? (chuckles) I
thought that was Thor. What is this
battleground you speak of?
RAYDEN
Come, lets move outside. You pose
little danger to me, I see that
now.

LIU KANG
Little danger, eh? I could kick
your ass old man. It is not my way
though and I have more questions to
ask you.

Rayden merely looks at Liu Kang like a master would to a

loud mouthed student.
The two move back outside, the light of outside makes a
sharp contrast to the darkness from within.
Once theyre outside, Rayden sits on a fallen log while Liu
paces back and forth.
LIU KANG
OK, you better start from the
beginning. Who are you really? What
do you mean by a battleground? I
want to go home.
Rayden dips his head and thinks for a moment.
RAYDEN
How many days have you been here...
Liu Kang?
LIU KANG
What? How do you know my name? I
woke up this morning and I found
myself on a beach here.
RAYDEN
You are like an open book to me.
You seem to make no effort to hide
your memories from me. I have been
here for the past five hundred
years. Time means nothing here. You
will not sleep or eat, there is no
night either - only day. Long,
endless day.
Liu Kang stops his pacing and kneels before Rayden. He leans
in and stares into the older mans eyes.
LIU KANG
Stop with the fairy tales old man.
Im not in the mood.
Rayden stands before Liu Kang. His eyes crackle with
lightning once more. He looks around, then using his hands
he channels a surge of electricity at a nearby boulder. The
BUZZ of power strikes the boulder with such force that it
splits it in half.

Rayden looks down at Liu Kang. There is no emotion on his

face.
RAYDEN
I am the God of Thunder. Do I make
myself clear?
Liu Kang nods, his mouth is agape - clearly he is impressed.
LIU KANG
If youre a God, why are you stuck
here? Why dont you just leave.
RAYDEN
I was summoned here by the
Kamidogu, the same as you - the
same as everyone on this island.
LIU KANG
You mean there are others here as
well? What are we waiting for,
lets find them!
RAYDEN
When next the Kamidogu pulses, you
will seek to kill them - you will
try to kill me as well.
LIU KANG
Do you always talk in riddles? What
Kamidogu?
RAYDEN
I know not where it comes from, but
there is a Kamidogu - no bigger
than an acorn - on this island. It
seeks a carrier, someone worthy to
use its powers. Beings from all
over the galaxy have been summoned
here. The Kamidogu has no
preference over who carries it - it
selects beings of good and evil
persuasion. You are all equal in
power - but only one of you will
carry it.
LIU KANG
You cant be serious... Rayden. You
mean to tell me a Kamidogu is
responsible for me being here? It
wants me to carry it somewhere? I
must be dreaming all this!

RAYDEN
Did you have the ability to make
fire before you woke up here?
LIU KANG
Well.. no.
RAYDEN
It compensates your weakness with
gifts to make you a match for
others that have been summoned
here.
LIU KANG
Who are these others you keep
talking about?
RAYDEN
Beings like yourself. Some are
human, from Earth. Others come from
this planet, Edenia. There are some
from the Nether Realm and others
still from Outworld. The planet I
come from has long since been
destroyed.
LIU KANG
Why dont you just take this
Kamidogu yourself, you look like
you can handle yourself.
RAYDEN
My brother and I were sent here 500
years ago. I held the Kamidogu for
less than an hour to prevent my
brother from taking it. In that
time I had almost forgotten who I
was. The power it gives is
all-consuming - it takes over your
soul and your very identity. The
power ripples through every
molecule in your body. With that
kind of power you could build or
destroy entire worlds.
Liu Kang pauses for a moment, he is considering the words of
Rayden.
LIU KANG
What happened? What did you do with
the Kamidogu?

RAYDEN
A half dragon, half man attacked me
and took the Kamidogu back. I owe
him my life. As for my brother, I
almost killed him with the Kamidogu
but he was saved by a necromancer
named Quan Chi and taken to
Outworld. I dont know what
happened to him after that. I have
stayed here to make sure the
Kamidogu doesnt fall into the
wrong hands.
LIU KANG
Sounds like the half dragon / half
man already has that under control.
RAYDEN
Goro. Yes, he is a formidable
warrior.
LIU KANG
What is it - the Kamidogu - waiting
for then?
RAYDEN
Once the Kamidogu is satisfied that
those its summoned here are equal
in skill and power it will call
you. You will not be able to resist
this call. You will kill any who
get in your way. Usually it calls
two at a time - a fight for it will
result in one less carrier until
one remains.
LIU KANG
Why doesnt it just allow Goro or
yourself to carry the Kamidogu?
RAYDEN
Both Goro and I have carried the
Kamidogu. It is unlikely that well
be offered the chance again. It is
looking for a specific being neither Goro or myself were given
the power it promises, so I do not
believe it is our destiny to carry
it.
LIU KANG
What do we do now? Should we go and
look for the others?

RAYDEN
No. I sense honor in you Liu Kang.
I will train you. Earth was like a
second home to me after my planet
was destroyed. I know you would not
harm it.
Liu Kang nods then stands up, looking Rayden in his eyes.
LIU KANG
Thank you.. God of Thunder. I
believe what you say is true. I was
the best fighter among the Shaolin
back on Earth, and I am unrivaled
in Wu Shu martial arts. If there is
something new you can teach me, I
would be honored to be your
student.
RAYDEN
Believe me, you will need more than
Wu Shu to survive here. As I said
before, those that are here will be
of equal power and skill to you.
What you will need is good
judgement, sound knowledge and a
profound understanding of what
drives your competitors.
The two men grip each others wrists in the old medieval way,
a sign of respect and friendship.
WEATHER SHOT: The VIEW pulls back to show the sky. The
weather is perfect, not a cloud in sight.
FADE OUT
INT. DESERTED ISLAND - THICK JUNGLE. DAY
FADE IN
WEATHER SHOT: The VIEW resumes from the sky, it is dark and
stormy - rain drops are spitting through the canopy of the
forest. The VIEW breaks through the canopy and moves to the
ground.
MEDIUM SHOT: From here, the VIEW takes up ferns and thick
leafy plants. The ground is moist. The rain drops fall on
something intangible. Where they should be hitting the
ground, theyre dripping off an invisible being. Like the
Predator, it moves forward - parting the plant life before
it.

OVER THE SHOULDER: From the VIEW point of the invisible

creature we see the rain forest drop away. Over thirty
meters below we can see Sonya walking cautiously toward more
ruins.
ZOOM BACK: From behind the creature, we see the camouflage
slowly fade. The creature is the reptoid, REPTILE. His skin
is covered in scales, resembling a snake. Reptile is naked,
like a green hairless male version of Mystique from X-Men.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - RUINS. DAY
These are the ruins of previous combatants who were forced
to live on the island until they were ready. Made mostly out
of rock and petrified wood, the ruins cover an area of four
acres and are surrounded by trees, roots and moss laden
boulders.
Sonya jumps over the high broken wall before her. The jump
is much higher than shed be able to perform on Earth. As
she reaches the peak of her jump she glides forward, in the
same maneuver as her square wave punch. As she lands on the
other side she hears a loud booming noise and notices a
large tree in the distance is falling to the ground.
She carefully makes her way towards the activity.
CUT TO:
Johnny Cage stands before the fallen tree. His arms are
folded as he breathes deeply.
Sonya can be seen walking towards him, her arms are raised
as if she plans to block an attack.
SONYA
(calling out)
Who are you? Where is this place?
JOHNNY CAGE
I could ask you the same thing.
As Sonya gets closer she realizes who it is and lowers her
arms.
SONYA
Johnny Cage? What are you doing
here?

I dont believe weve met...
SONYA
Im Sonya Blade, I work with the
American Special Forces unit. I
thought I was in a dream until I
saw you.
JOHNNY CAGE
Lots of women see me in their
dreams baby,

Sonya laughs at him.

SONYA
I dont swing that way Johnny,
though I do like your movies.
Especially the Dragon Fist ones.
JOHNNY CAGE
Well, now I have my own Dragon
Fist. Stand back...
Sonya moves to the cover of a nearby statue. Johnny runs up
to another tree and throws an air punch at it. An explosion
of air rips through the tree, cutting it in half.
Johnny turns to look at Sonya, she doesnt look that
impressed.
JOHNNY CAGE
Theres no special effects there
sweet cheeks. Thats 100% Cage.
SONYA
(claps mockingly)
Impressive. Save your speeches for
the Academy Awards.
Sonya moves back into the opening and stands to the left of
the boulder she hid behind.
JOHNNY CAGE
Christ, Im not even safe from
critics here.
SONYA
Id be more impressed if I couldnt
do this...
Sonya turns to the boulder beside her and unleashes her own
burst of super charged energy. The boulder bursts into a
dozen pieces, bits of it almost hit Johnny in the face.

JOHNNY CAGE
Hey! Watch what youre doing. I
didnt blow my load all over your
face.
SONYA
(grinning)
So it appears weve both been given
toys to play with. I wonder whats
going on here. Do you have any idea
where we are?
JOHNNY CAGE
Good question, I was thinking about
this earlier. Judging by the
surroundings, the layout of the
terrain and the props here, Id
hazard a guess that were in the
middle of a decaying ruin.
SONYA
(sarcastically)
No... you dont say! All this time
I figured we were in a shopping
mall.
JOHNNY CAGE
(missing the sarcasm)
Well youre blond so I can see how
youd think that. If we were in a
shopping mall, Id be surrounded by
adoring fans right now. (pauses to
look around) Nope, Im almost 90%
sure that were in a ruins. Or a
forest. One of the two.
SONYA
Lets take a look around genius.
Maybe we can work out how we got
here.

Sonya and Johnny walk off together and explore their

surroundings.
FADE OUT
INT. DESERTED ISLAND - CAVERN, GOROS LAIR. DAY
Fire torches light up the cavern from within. The VIEW pans
around the room to show the decaying remains of the many
fallen warriors that have died at the hands of Goro. On the
ground in one part of the cavern is the round metal hat of
Kung Lao, now rusty and slowly decaying.

Goro enters the cave, his massive body a silhouette against

the brightness of the entrance. He shambles inside and drops
a dead warrior on the ground inside. We cannot see who this
is. Goro makes his way to the broken ledge where Kung Lao
was scrambling to get up earlier. He leaps up and grabs the
edge of it, hauling his massive frame up. Opposite where he
now stands is an exit from the cavern.
Goro dips his head and walks through the hole.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ARENA. DAY
OVER THE SHOULDER: From behind Goro we see a large broken
down coliseum. Crumbling stone pillars form a circle. A
crude set of steps lead up to the fight platform in the
center of the arena. The entrance Goro comes through is the
only way into this area.
Directly opposite the arena is a viewing area, complete with
a small sheltered dais made of stone. It is overgrown with
moss and vines. A throne sits on the dais. Seated in the
chair is Shang Tsung, by his side is the naked form of the
reptoid, Reptile.
Goro wanders over to them, his gait is that of a giant slow and cumbersome to counteract his four powerful arms
that hang by his side.
As he reaches Shang Tsung, he bows before him - never taking
his eyes off the reptoid by his side.
GORO
One less combatant to worry about
Master.
SHANG TSUNG
Good. Reptile tells me there are
six left.
GORO
Yes, they are growing stronger. I
sense the Kamidogu will call them
soon.
SHANG TSUNG
We all know what happens if I fail.
Do not fight any one else for now.
You will need your strength to
weaken the final opponent for me.

Yes Master.
SHANG TSUNG
Reptile also informed me that the
Thunder God is training one of the
humans. If Rayden interferes like
last time, we will have to wait 500
years for another worthy soul. Even
my - considerable patience - will
be stretched if that happens.
GORO
I will not fail you Master.
Goro bows once more then turns and heads back to the cave
entrance. As he passes out of sight, Reptile leans in and
whispers something to Shang Tsung.
SHANG TSUNG
(nodding)
If he knew how to steal a soul he
probably would, as it happens he
does not. When I have the soul of
the winner, the Kamidogu will give
me its power. Then I will kill
him.
FADE OUT
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY
PAN: The VIEW picks up from the center of the training area.
With a 360 degree view we can see the surroundings. There
are old training dummies hanging from trees, wooden planks
are suspended high off the ground, chin up bars and benches
for dips are still standing. A round pit is marked out in
the middle of the training area - the sand that once filled
it has long since been overgrown with weeds.
Rayden and Liu Kang enter the shot as the camera comes full
circle.
Liu Kang is absently rubbing his index finger and thumb
against each other, creating flames from his right hand.
Rayden is carrying his bo staff, his eyes alive with
electricity.
RAYDEN
This is where we will train.

LIU KANG
As you wish. It looks like it could
do with a bit of work.
RAYDEN
That it does. Years ago I trained
here with your ancestor - his name
was Kung Lao.
LIU KANG
Really? We have a student back at
the Temple with the same name. What
happened to your friend?
RAYDEN
I never said he was my friend, I
said I trained with him. I believe
Goro killed him when he went for
the Kamidogu.
LIU KANG
I thought Goro was a good guy,
whyd he kill Kung Lao?
RAYDEN
Goro is complicated. He has his own
motives for why he does things. You
must be wary of Goro when you fight
him, as Im certain you will. Your
first lesson here will be in
construction. We will need to
restore this place to what it was
if we are to make use of it.
LIU KANG
Youre a God arent you? Why dont
you just snap your fingers and make
it how you want it?
RAYDEN
You seem confused with the meaning
of God Liu Kang. God is a species,
much like humans are a species. I
am of the Thunder race, as you are
of the asian race. If you were the
last human asian on Earth, you
might call yourself Liu Kang the
Asian Human. My kind are almost
extinct so there is a need for me
to remind others of my heritage. I
hope you understand.

There is much I do not understand,
but Im pretty sure you cleared
that one up for me. What have you
been doing here for the past 500
years? Do you have a home on this
island?
RAYDEN
I have slept. In my dreams I can
walk to other planes of existence.
I have passed the time watching
generations of people live their
daily lives. Should the Kamidogu
find you worthy Liu Kang, I will
return with you to Earth.
LIU KANG
What if it chooses one of the
others that are here?
RAYDEN
That cannot come to be. When you
face them you will understand why.
Let us stall no longer, there is
much work that needs to be done.
MONTAGE
Liu Kang and Rayden can be seen completing a range of chores
to prepare the training ground. CUT TO:
Using wide palm fronds, Liu weaves the leaves together to
form a stretcher. CUT TO:
A well beaten path now leads out of the training grounds.
Liu Kang is struggling to pull his palm stretcher into VIEW.
On the back of the stretcher is a load of sand. CUT TO:
Rayden is ramming two solid sticks of timber into the ground
to replace the old ones for a chin up bar. CUT TO:
Time has clearly passed as the training ground looks almost
complete. Liu Kang and Rayden sit on a nearby log, sweat
beads from both of them.
LIU KANG
(breathing ragged)
Its hard to know how long weve
been doing this for. With no sun,
there is no way to gauge the
passing of time here.

RAYDEN
Yes. Are you thirsty?
LIU KANG
Strangely, no Im not.
RAYDEN
It is the balance I mentioned
earlier. Some need more rest than
others, some need more food and
water than others. The Kamidogu has
created a place where all are equal
and therefor do not require either.
How is your strength?
LIU KANG
It has returned. Im ready to start
training.
RAYDEN
Good, let us begin.
As Liu Kang and Rayden practice their martial arts the
camera pulls back and up. The VIEW is like that of a bird as
we follow it high over the rain forest and down into the
center of the island where the Kamidogu sits upon the black
marble altar.
CLOSE UP: The Kamidogu PULSES.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - BASE OF MOUNTAIN. DAY
Sub Zero has descended the mountain and is walking towards
the center of the island. The PULSE sends him to his knees
in agony, he clutches his head and looks up with terror in
masked across his face. Slowly the pain recedes and he
regains control.
Standing up, he turns in a new direction and starts jogging
through the wild terrain.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - VALLEY. DAY
Scorpion wanders into VIEW when the PULSE hits him also. The
Kamidogu has chosen its first two combatants. Instead of
falling to his knees like Sub Zero, Scorpion merely sinks
into the earth, unable to retain control of his physical

form in the solid world. Once the PULSE subsides he

teleports back on earth and begins running through the
valley.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - EDGE OF FOREST. DAY
From high overhead, we see Sub Zero about to exit the forest
just as Scorpion hits the fringe of the same area. They
continue running towards each other, like two rams about to
clash horns.
Sub Zero leaps in the air and creates a spear of ice. His
jump is much higher than hed be able to execute on Earth.
Scorpion runs in to meet him. As Sub Zero hurls the ice
spear at Scorpion, we see it pass right through Scorpions
body as he momentarily becomes transparent.
Scorpion retaliates with a punch as Sub Zero is landing on
the ground. They begin fighting one another with complete
disregard for defence. We see round house kicks, upper cuts,
sweep kicks and throws. The speed with which they attack is
only highlighted by the amount of damage each fighter is
taking. Blood spurts from gashes and scrapes on both
fighters.
Sub Zero uppercuts Scorpion just under the jaw, sending him
flying backwards. As Scorpion stands, Sub Zero gathers
particles of the air together and freezes them then hurls
the ball of ice at Scorpion.
Scorpion is too slow to move out of the way of it this time
and only manages to block the attack with his left arm. As
the ball of ice hits him, we see his arm freeze solid. Sub
Zero jumps high and prepares for a kick to Scorpions head.
Scorpion spins about and unleashes the talon spear from
within the palm of his hand. It hurtles out and latches onto
Sub Zeros wind pipe, catching him mid air.
SCORPION
Come here!
Scorpion rips back on the cord, tearing out the throat from
Sub Zero.
Sub Zero hits the ground fast and reaches for his throat. As
he struggles for air, his hands desperately try to stop the
bleeding and pain. GURGLING sounds are heard as blood
bubbles from the hole in his throat. Sub Zero slumps forward
and dies.

Scorpion pulls his talon back in, stopping it just short of

full extraction. He looks at the piece of skin and internal
tissue caught in the clutches of the talon, then he removes
it and pulls his talon back inside his arm.
Stepping over Sub Zero, Scorpion continues into the forest
before him.
FADE OUT
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY
Rayden sits on rock as Liu Kang punches a roughly made
boxing bag.
ZOOM IN: Rayden tilts his head as if he just heard something
almost out of ear shot.
RAYDEN
(quietly)
One of your opponents is dead. The
tournament has begun.
LIU KANG
(stops training)
Dead?
RAYDEN
If the Kamidogu does not call you,
you would remain here as an
immortal - never aging or desiring
the need to eat or sleep. It is the
combat forced upon you by the
Kamidogu that makes you mortal. It
is for this reason that the
tournament is called Mortal Kombat.
Inside your mind you will be
promised unrivalled power - it will
feed you like a drug. Likewise,
your primal insticts will be
heightened like never before. You
will smell your opponent long
before you lay eyes on them.
Nothing else will matter to you
except removing your opponent and
obtaining the Kamidogu.
LIU KANG
How do you break the hold it has on
you? You had it once, yet you still
live.

I tried to kill my own brother with
the power I was given. I forgot who
I was. It had to be taken from me.
CUT TO FLASHBACK:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - COLISEUM. DAY
FLASHBACK: The view is black and white as we watch Rayden
pick up the Kamidogu from the altar. His eyes gleam with
power as he tries to leave the platform.
His brother SHAO KAHN, a large man - as big as any wrestler
and ripped with the body of a professional body builder gets
up from the platform where Rayden had defeated him. He runs
at Rayden, dropping his shoulder for the charge.
Rayden merely holds his hand out and unleashes a powerful
torrent of electricity at Shao Kahn, causing him to smoke
and convulse from the electrocution.
From out of nowhere, Goro jumps down behind Rayden and grabs
him from behind with two of his arms. With the other two
straining against the force of Raydens resistance, Goro
manages to retrieve the Kamidogu from Raydens possession.
Rayden ceases to resist once the Kamidogu is out of his
possession. Goro quickly places the Kamidogu on the altar.
Rayden looks to where his brother is laying on the ground
and starts to walk over to him. A hazy mist appears before
Rayden which solidifies like shimmering water suspended in
the air. Out of the mist walks the necromancer, QUAN CHI. He
quickly pulls the fallen Shao Kahn back into the portal
where it closes. Rayden gets to the portal just as it
vaporises in mid air.
GORO
You were not the chosen one.
Rayden has his back turned to the four armed monster.
RAYDEN
I know. You saved my life. I...
As Rayden turns to face Goro he realizes that the monster
has disappeared again.
CUT TO:

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY

The FLASHBACK is over as Rayden snaps out of his memories
and returns to the present.
Liu Kang looks at Rayden with concern.
RAYDEN
There is much I still do not
understand.
LIU KANG
Is Goro the Kamidogus protector?
RAYDEN
No. He was summoned here long
before I was. He has held the
Kamidogu on multiple occasions. He
works for someone - or something else. I still share some of the
memories of the Kamidogu. Even
though I only held it for a short
period I saw much of what it has
achieved. Entire galaxies were once
created by the Kamidogu. It had a
body once, one that was made of a
rare diamond. The body was
compressed into the form it now
holds by enormous forces in the
universe. It is capable of creating
- or destroying - anything it
pleases. For now it is trapped on
this island and needs someone to
channel its energy - hence the
reason it has summoned us here.
LIU KANG
But it has had a number of chances
to give that power to one of its
summoned. Why not just choose one
of us and be done with it? Why all
the bloodshed and fighting?
RAYDEN
The Kamidogu cannot differentiate
between good and evil. A contest of
will is the only fair way to decide
who the strongest soul is. My
opponent still lives, so I did not
have the opportunity to prove my
power. Everyone Goro has faced has
died, yet the Kamidogu refuses to
give its power to him. (pauses) All

I know is this: If this power falls
into the wrong hands, we could all
be destroyed.
LIU KANG
How do I beat Goro then?
RAYDEN
He is fast and much stronger than
you could possibly imagine. You
will not beat him if you try to
fight with martial arts alone. To
win against Goro you must think and
react faster than he does. Use your
surroundings and avoid a direct
confrontation. My advice would be
to fight at a distance and use your
fireballs to weaken him.

Liu Kang nods, then unleashes a series of fireballs at the

coconut targets hanging from a nearby tree branch. Each one
successfully strikes its target, causing the coconuts to
burst into flames and fall from the tree.
RAYDEN
Good, you are learning fast. Give
yourself every advantage. Choose an
environment to fight in that leans
to your strengths and his
weaknesses. A...
Rayden stops mid sentence dips his head again, listening to
something distant.
LIU KANG
What is it?
RAYDEN
A new opponent has been chosen.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - RUINS. DAY
The sound of the PULSE can be heard at the start of this
scene.
Sonya cautiously walks through the ruins. Ahead of her is
Johnny Cage.
Without any warning he drops to his knees, his hands
reaching for his ears.

Johnny Cage SCREAMS out in pain.

SONYA
(worried and panicky)
Johnny are you OK? Johnny!?
She runs
from the
man high
standing

towards him, but before she reaches him he leaps up

ground and looks at her. His eyes are wild, like a
on ice. He pushes her over like shes not even
there and starts running through the ruins.

Sonya gets up and watches him run. She starts to go after

him, but his speed is inhumanly fast. She continues to
follow him as the camera pulls back.
The view is taken again from the sky as we watch Johnny
running past the ruins and into a forest.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ABANDONED QUARRY. DAY
Above the forest the VIEW picks up both Johnny Cage and
Scorpion as they run at break neck speed towards each other.
A half dug quarry separates them, water still pools in the
middle of it. Like most of the surroundings, this quarry
appears disused and overgrown.
On one end of the quarry, Scorpion begins a long jump leaping high into the air at the peak of the quarry. Johnny
Cage repeats the same move from the opposite side and they
clash high over the middle of the quarry.
Johnny Cage reaches for Scorpions throat, trying
desperately to suffocate his opponent by crushing his
windpipe. Scorpion pulls back and sends a thunderous kick
into Johnnys chest. This forces the two apart and they land
hard on the ground beneath them.
Johnny runs in and begins pounding Scorpion in the head with
his fists. Skin pulls back from Scorpions face to reveal
bone. Still Johnny rains down blows, occasionally driving
forearms and elbows into the exposed head of Scorpion.
Scorpion manages to kick Johnny off him and rises to his
feet. He unleashes his talon from the palm of his hand,
sending the vicious cord of muscle and tendons into Johnnys
chest. The talon bites down hard on Johnnys chest. Scorpion
pulls the cord inwards, forcing the movie star to move
forward.

Johnny retaliates with a shadow kick, sliding forward with

incredible speed - slamming his foot into the stomach of
Scorpion. The talon releases Johnny and retreats back inside
Scorpions hand. As Scorpion is doubled over, Johnny sends a
powerful explosion of air into Scorpion as he releases an
uppercut into his face. This move lifts Scorpion off his
feet and sends him twenty feet into the air to land in the
water.
Johnny Cage walks over to the water to finish his beaten
opponent. He reaches down into the dirty water but there is
no sign of Scorpion.
Like a wraith, Scorpion appears behind Johnny Cage and fully
materializes. He punches his fist into Johnnys back.
The VIEW is taken from in front of Johnny Cage. We see his
mouth open in agony. He tries to release a SCREAM of pain
but nothing comes out. Behind him, Scorpion is yanking on
something. Johnny begins to fall as Scorpion withdraws his
hand. In his fist he holds a chunk of Johnnys SPINE, blood
dripping from it.
Scorpion throws it on the ground and turns his back on us.
Slowly, like the movements of the Terminator, he walks out
of the pit and heads towards the Kamidogu once more.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - SWAMPY MARSH. DAY
Kano lies on the ground, his arms cradle his head. There is
a broad palm leaf over his face. He appears to be sleeping.
A mosquito lands on his arm and bites him, he raises his
head and slaps it. The motion causes the palm leaf to fall
away from his face.
KANO
(angrily to himself)
What the fuck is goin on ere?
There aint no sun yet its always
bright. Night is the opposite of
me, it never bloody cums. I cant
get a wink of sleep and everything
Ive eaten tastes like shit.
Kano rises and stretches his cramped muscles. He sits on a
log for a bit to think.

KANO
Now lets retrace me steps. I was in
a warehouse that was about to go
boom. Next fing I know Im stuck
ere - bored shitless. Maybe I died
and this is some sort of
punishment?
He scratches his metal eye patch then pulls his bowie knife
out of his boot and uses it to draw in the dirt.
KANO
Nah, cant be that. Theres worse
bastards than me. I did what I had
too to survive. This is somethin
else.
Kano stands up and starts to walk along a path in the woods.
In the distance he can see Scorpion walking slowly through
the ferns and thick underbrush.
KANO
(yelling out)
Hey! Stop there! Dont move.
Scorpion keeps walking, not even pausing to look Kanos way.
Kano starts jogging over to him.
Suddenly Scorpion stops dead in his tracks. He shimmers
again, losing transparency for a few seconds. We can hear
running in the distance, someone is coming.
Scorpion regains his composure and turns around.
KANO
Yeah you better fuckin stop.
Youre lucky I didnt gut you like
a...
Kano is knocked over as Sonya runs past him and leaps into
Scorpion. She has the mad look in her eyes - the battle lust
that drives each combatant.
OVER THE SHOULDER: From Kanos viewpoint we watch as Sonya
and Scorpion fight one another. Sonya is dominating the
fight as they punch and kick each other repeatedly. Scorpion
appears weakened from the two previous fights hes had.
Sonya does her scissors kick, landing it perfectly around
Scorpions waist. She throws him hard into the ground.
Scorpion rises and throws his spear at Sonya. The talon rips
forward, but Sonya parries it and unleashes a blast of
energy from her own hands that hits Scorpion fully in the

chest. He stands and tries to shadow punch her, but she

leaps up high and avoids the attack. Scorpion jumps up and
grabs the branch above his head. He swings himself up onto
the branch.
Sonya jumps into the air, clearing fifteen feet or more from
a standing position. She glides forward with her square wave
punch. Scorpion doesnt expect it and the attack hits him in
the face, knocking him from his perch. As he lands, Sonya
leaps from the branch and drives her leg into his head,
knocking him to the ground. She walks up to him and grabs
his head from behind. Twisting hard, she snaps his neck.
Scorpion loses his solid form and begins sinking into the
earth. His ethereal form falls through the ground and his
body disappears.
Sonya turns to face Kano who is standing alone.
Kano slowly draws his bowie knife, preparing for her to
attack him next. Sonya turns her back on him and continues
after the Kamidogu.
CLOSE UP: Kano puts his dagger back and watches Sonya walk
away.
KANO
She looks like fun.
He scratches his groin and grins.
KANO
Reminds me of a girl I once knew.
Maybe she can help me with this
itch I have...
As Kano sets off towards Sonya the VIEW moves to the murky
waters of the swamp behind him.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY
Liu Kang is doing chin ups on a bar as Rayden paces back and
forth. Sweat beads from Liu Kang as does his repetitions.
RAYDEN
Two more have died. A female is now
headed for the Kamidogu.
LIU KANG
What? You said nothing about women!

RAYDEN
She is a formidable opponent Liu.
You cannot judge any book by its
cover. In her present state she
would kill you without hesitating.
LIU KANG
What else do you know? Are there
children involved in this as well?
RAYDEN
No, but if there were you would be
wise to treat them with the same
level of caution as any other
opponent. Everyone is made equal on
this island - regardless of the
form they take.
LIU KANG
Why do we stay here when there are
enemies out there? Why dont we
just head for the Kamidogu now and
stop wasting time?
RAYDEN
Tell me, Liu Kang, hich direction
would you head in to find the
Kamidogu? This island is enchanted
- it changes all the time depending
on the whims of the Kamidogu. Only
when it summons you will you be
able to find it. As for your
enemies, they too are just as
elusive to find. I have lived here
for 500 years met no one else.
LIU KANG
How long will I have to stay here
before it calls me? It feels like
Ive been here for weeks already.
RAYDEN
How long is a piece of string? Time
has no meaning here, trying to
understand this place will only
send you mad. Be patient, all will
happen as it is supposed to happen.
Liu Kang grumbles under his breath and continues his
training as Rayden sits with his head bowed. Again we see
him dip his head to hear the PULSE of the Kamidogu.
CUT TO:

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - FOREST PATH. DAY

PAN: The forest is separated by a dirt path that runs
through it. It is slightly overgrown with weeds but is clear
enough to provide room for a cart. The VIEW settles on Sonya
as she walks towards the camera, then past it. About two
hundred meters behind her is Kano, stalking her like a rabid
dog.
The sound of the PULSE rings out once more.
Kano doesnt seem as effected as the others when he hears
it. His head tilts from side to side as though a ball has
been dislodged in his head. He snarls and grits his teeth,
then kinks his neck to the left and right and looks
menacingly at Sonya.
Sonya also stops in her tracks then turns around to face
Kano.
TWO SHOT: We see a spagetti western style showdown between
Sonya and Kano - their eyes burn with pure hatred. Sonya is
the first to break the staring match when she sprints
forward, firing energy waves from her hands. Kano dodges
them like an ice skater and runs in to meet his rival.
Sonya ducks under a huge left hook from Kano then smashes a
kick into Kanos ribs. Kano falls momentarily but turns the
awkwardness of his fall into a sweep kick that knocks Sonya
off her feet. Sonya quickly backflips from the ground and
lands softly on her feet. Kano jumps into the air and rolls
forward, his body tightly wound like a ball. His cannonball
hits her in the chest, knocking her to the ground where she
skids along until she hits a the base of a thick tree.
Landing gingerly on his feet, Kano reaches for his bowie
knife and hurls it at Sonya. The blade punches through her
arm, pinning her to the tree.
Sonya tries repeatedly to pull the knife free with her other
hand, but blood is gushing out from the arteries, covering
the handle and making a grip on it that much harder.
Kano walks over to her and reaches down to grab her throat.
He leans in close and runs his tongue over her face. He puts
his hand behind her head and takes a fistful of blonde hair
then stares into her eyes.
Sonya spits in his face and tries to kick him off her. Her
strength is fading fast as the blood leaves her body. Kano
runs his other hand down to her shirt and rips it open. He
reaches back and punches a hole between her breasts.

Sonya screams as Kano removes her heart and holds it before

her.
KANO
(spits the words out)
Flawless... victory, Bitch!
Kano stands up and withdraws his knife from Sonya and the
tree then wipes the bloody blade across Sonyas face.
Without another glance, Kano turns back onto the path and
continues towards the Kamidogu.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY
Liu Kang is juggling his fireballs while Rayden is still
seated on the same log.
Rayden suddenly shakes his head and sighs.
Liu Kang notices the movement and walks closer to Rayden.
LIU KANG
What is it? You seem troubled.
RAYDEN
The woman is dead. It wont be long
now before youll be summoned.
Remember what Ive taught you. Your
mind will be flooded with the
promises from the Kamidogu - it is
like a drug that you cannot refuse.
LIU KANG
Will you be able to help me? If
what you say is true then youll
still be immortal. If you followed
me youd be led to the place where
Ill fight my opponent - together
we could easily defeat any that
come against us.
RAYDEN
I believe that the Kamidogu will
find your soul lacking in power if
you are unable to defeat each
opponent on your own. This is a
test and only one can remain alive.
I will do whatever I can to ensure
your best chance of success.

LIU KANG
As you say Master.
RAYDEN
You may have noticed that the
gravity on this island is unlike
that of Earth. I learned a long
time ago how to charge the
particles in the air with
electricity so it could sustain my
weight. Let me show you what I
mean.
Rayden stands up and moves to the middle of the training
grounds. He looks at Liu Kang when hes ready to make sure
hes paying attention. Liu Kang nods once in reply.
Rayden then stands back and shouts something unintelligible.
He dives forward as if the ground beneath him is made of
water. Instead of hitting the cold hard ground below, he
flies forward, arms outstretched. As he reaches the stone
pillar before him, he rolls himself into a ball - like a
swimmer turning on a wall to begin a new lap. The effect
looks like a somersault in mid air. Rayden then teleports to
a standing position where he should have landed naturally.
Liu Kang grins broadly and claps.
LIU KANG
That was impressive! It looked like
you were flying. I think youve
been reading too many Superman
comics.
RAYDEN
(confused)
Superman?
LIU KANG
Never mind. Can you teach me that?
RAYDEN
Perhaps. Charge the air about you
with heat.
LIU KANG
As you say.
CLOSE UP: Liu Kang closes his eyes and concentrates. His
hands burst into flames. A flicker of annoyance crosses his
face, then the flames go out. A heat wave can be seen
surrounding him. The grass below him dries out and burns still he continues to concentrate. Sweat beads from his brow

- slowly his body floats upwards - about a foot off the

ground.
RAYDEN
Stop.
Liu Kang opens his eyes and falls to the ground. Dusting
himself off, he stands back up again and looks to Rayden for
advice.
RAYDEN
You are a fast learner. It took me
years to get that far. You have to
concentrate less though - try
manipulating the muscles in your
body with your mind alone. You need
to propel yourself forward without
using friction from the physical
world.
LIU KANG
Are you serious?
RAYDEN
I have just proven, have I not?
Liu Kang concentrates once more. This time he is able to
elevate himself a few feet from the ground - the air about
him looks thick with the heat hes generating from his body.
RAYDEN
Look at me.
Slowly, Liu Kang opens his eyes and looks at Rayden - he is
still elevated several feet off the ground.
RAYDEN
Hovering off the ground is useless
unless you can turn it into an
offensive manoeuvre. Try a fireball
from that height.
Liu Kang raises his knee for balance then thrusts his arms
forward and releases a fireball. It smashes into the stone
pillar that Rayden hit earlier.
The forces throws Liu Kang back, causing him to lose his
focus. He falls to the ground once more.
RAYDEN
Practice that while you wait - you
may find it useful.

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ARENA. DAY
Shang Tsung, old and frail, sits on his throne before the
arenas fighting platform. One hand is curled around a short
cane while the second is idly stroking his wispy white
beard. He appears deep in thought.
Materializing out of nowhere is the reptoid, Reptile.
Reptile carries the mask of Sub Zero in his hands. He bows
low before Shang Tsung then moves closer to his Master.
SHANG TSUNG
What is this youve brought me?
Reptile hands the mask over. For the first time, we hear his
voice - it is a hissing sound in a language unknown to human
ears.
REPTILE
Vishtaka mesnistil busctuka tiri

TRANSLATION: Four dead, one wore this mask.
SHANG TSUNG
Describe the others.
REPTILE

Two humans, one a male the other a female. A human male

Shang Tsung ponders the information for a while. Finally he
responds.
SHANG TSUNG
The one with Rayden. Is he dead?

INT. DESERTED ISLAND - CAVERN, GOROS LAIR. DAY
FADE IN
The lair is black inside. We can barely make out the form of
Goro shambling through the water towards the entrance.
His body is a black silouhette against the light from
outside. He walks up to the cave mouth and steps outside.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - OUTSIDE GOROS LAIR. DAY
Goro moves to the entrance outside and leans on a ledge by
the side of the mountain. Scratching his head he looks down
and picks up a rock. Its about the size of a mans head. He
juggles it from side to side with his four massive arms.
Leaning back, he takes a few steps then hurls it into the
air as hard as he can.
VIEW: We follow the rock as it powers through the sky. The
rock seems to hit an invisible barrier about a hundred
meters off the ground. It bounces off the barrier and
plummets to the earth, smashing through the canopy of the
forest.
CUT BACK TO: Goro has just watched the rock repel from the
invisible barrier. He scratches his head again.
GORO
(quietly to himself)
No one comes, no one leaves.

He paces back and forth, his two lower arms are around his
back while his two upper arms are folded before his mighty
chest.
GORO
Shang was born a human, he cant be
trusted. Yet without his help,
Outworld will never unify the
colonies. If he can take a soul he
can trick the Kamidogu and bring it
back to Outworld.
Goro stops pacing and cups his chin with one of his hands,
he idly strokes his jaw - lost in thought.

Shang is not part of this
tournament. Is it Reptile that
allows him to be here? With the
power of the Kamidogu, not even I
will have the strength to stop him.
For now I must help him - there is
no other option. Once we are back
in Outworld, I will see his true
intentions. Earth cannot have the
Kamidogu, the greater good of the
colony depends on this. That much
is certain.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY
Back in the training grounds we see Rayden watching as Liu
Kang trains.
Liu Kang has elevated himself into the air once more. He
glides forward a few paces then falls to the ground.
LIU KANG
Holding the balance is more
difficult than I first imagined.
RAYDEN
Try it as part of another move.
Jump towards me with a kick then
turn on the ability.
LIU KANG
You want me to kick you?

RAYDEN
You can try it.
Liu Kang jumps in the air a good ten feet away from Rayden
and throws a kick out. While his leg is fully extended he
propels his body forward using the heat of the air generated
behind him. The kick narrowly misses Raydens head. Liu Kang
lands lightly on his feet.
RAYDEN
Well done! Try a series of kicks
from the same position.
Liu Kang returns to where he was standing and jumps once
more. This time he flies forward with a bicycle kick, one
leg rapidly kicking the air after the other. This time his
kicks actually strike Rayden in the chest and knock him to
the ground. Liu Kang lands on his feet again and helps
Rayden up.
LIU KANG
Sorry Master, but you did ask for
it.
RAYDEN
That is true. Practice these moves,
you may need them later.
As the VIEW pulls back and up we see Liu Kang doing his
bicycle kick, fireballs and fly kick on the ground far
below.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - FOREST PATH. DAY
Kano is walking with a mile eating soldiers stride,
determination painted clearly across his face. Before him we
see a large clearing in the middle of the forest. A large
stone building stands in the middle of the clearing. Its
roof is made of reinforced steel and concrete. It is the
most modern building weve seen so far. Two big wooden doors
bar the entrance to the building.
Kano walks up and swings the big doors open. He steps
inside.
CUT TO:

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - TRAINING AREA. DAY

Liu Kang stops his training and looks at Rayden with his
mouth open. Suddenly he drops to his knees and grabs the
sides of his head with both hands. His eyes are wide with
searing pain, yet he makes no sound.
Rayden stands up and faces Liu Kang - his hands are clenched
into fists.
RAYDEN
Fight it! Do not let it consume
you!
LIU KANG
(in agony)
It.. hurts.. I want it so bad!
RAYDEN
Clear your mind Liu Kang. If it
consumes you now you will not be
able to focus.
Liu Kang is visibly struggling to deal with the thoughts
raging through his mind. He stumbles on his legs as he tries
to stand. Rayden moves forward and helps him up.
LIU KANG
My God, do you know what I can do
with this power?
RAYDEN
Yes. You must first win the
tournament and be worthy of the
Kamidogu. Sit here a moment and
regain your mind.
Liu sits on a nearby stone. Rayden places his hands on
either side of Liu Kangs temple.
LIU KANG
What are you doing Rayden?
RAYDEN
I can dull the sensations for a
moment.
LIU KANG
I dont want...
As Liu is mid sentence, Rayden pulses his mind with a gentle
surge of electricity.

There, how does that feel?
Liu Kang nods silently and looks up at Rayden.
LIU KANG
I want to kill him. The one Im
supposed to kill. Hes not far from
here - I can smell him.
RAYDEN
It is the battle lust the Kamidogu
infuses you with. I felt it as well
when it called me to fight my own
brother.
LIU KANG
He is evil Rayden. I would be doing
everyone a great service to remove
him.
RAYDEN
You will see what the Kamidogu
wants you to see. Fight the urge only when you are calm and in
control will you succeed.
LIU KANG
He feels the urge as well, I sense
it. He is waiting for me - in a
building. I see the image in my
mind.
RAYDEN
I feel it as well. I will not stop
you from killing him - when you are
ready we will leave.
LIU KANG
Lets do this.
Liu Kang rises from his seat. Together, Rayden and Liu Kang
head into the forest, leaving the training area behind.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - STONE BUILDING. DAY
Inside the stone building we see Kano walking up and down
the length of the building. It is one large abandoned bath
house. It is split in two by a three meter wide path. On
either side of the path we see large baths filled with an

olive green liquid. The depth is unknown. Kano pulls a torch

from the side of the wall at the entrance and plunges it
into the liquid. When he withdraws it we see the acid has
eaten completely through the wood.
Kano grins with delight then throws the end of the wood into
the acid bath. He stands, leg spread, in the middle of the
path dividing the two sections of acid and waits for his
opponent to find him.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - OUTSIDE THE STONE BUILDING. DAY
Rayden and Liu Kang appear at the edge of the forest, just
before the stone building.
RAYDEN
(raising his hand)
Stop!
LIU KANG
Im ready for him Rayden, get out
of the...
Just as Liu Kang is about to finish his sentence, Rayden
releases a bolt of electricity. Like a lightning bolt it
shoots straight and true. The bolt flies high into the roof
top of the stone building.
ZOOM IN: From on top of the roof top we see green blood
dripping from mid air. Then Reptile materializes out of
nowhere and hisses down at Rayden and Liu Kang. He is
wearing the mask that he took from Sub Zero.
CUT BACK TO: Rayden and Liu Kang. Liu Kang reacts fast and
is about to hurl his own fireball at Reptile when Rayden
puts his hand on Liu Kangs shoulder to stop him.
RAYDEN
No! He is immortal. The one you
must fight is inside the stone
building. Do not waste your energy
on this one, Ill deal with him. Go
now and fulfill your destiny!
Liu Kang nods and runs towards the entrance of the stone
building. Reptile removes his mask and spits acid towards
Liu Kang, but he easily dodges it. Rayden sends another bolt
of electricity towards Reptile, which hits him in the chest.

CLOSE UP: Reptile is badly burnt on his chest and arms from
the lightning, but within seconds he is fully healed as the
skin closes up and returns to its normal form.
REPTILE
(hissing)
Zishen rutiva bak distel Rayden.
TRANSLATION: You cant kill me Rayden.
RAYDEN
Jaga neh bak dushenza bai distel
Reptile?
TRANSLATION: Who said I wanted to kill you Reptile?
As their battle rages on outside, Liu Kang swings the giant
doors open and enters the bath house.
He is instantly met by a cannon ball from Kano that knocks
him flying backwards on the ground outside.
Kano lands on his feet and stands at the entrance of the
building.
KANO
Its mine. Ill kill every one of
you fuckers to get it!
With that said, he turns his back on the activity outside
and walks back inside.
Liu Kang flips back onto his feet and moves inside the stone
building, his hands are on fire.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - STONE BUILDING. DAY
Kano stands with legs astride on the path inside the
building. Liu Kang enters and runs towards Kano, then leaps
at the last moment and hits Kano in the chest with his fly
kick. Kano staggers back and catches Lius leg. He throws
Liu against the back wall and smashes a punch into his face.
Momentarily stunned, Liu Kang only just avoids Kanos second
punch but is quick to react thereafter. He unleashes a
powerful blast of fire from his hands that hit Kano in the
chest and set his shirt on fire. Kano jumps into the air and
cannonballs into Liu Kang at close range, the move manages
to put the flames out, though he is badly burned.

Clearly Kano is much stronger than Liu Kang, but Liu appears
to be faster. As Kano draws his bowie knife and moves in
towards Liu Kang, we see Liu sweep kick the legs out from
under Kano.
As Kano rises, Liu Kang jumps up high and propels himself
forward with his bicycle kick. This hits Kano in the head,
making blood flow from his nose.
Kano retaliates by grabbing Lius legs again. Using them for
leverage he spins him around and smashes his body against
the hard pavement of the path. Liu Kang throws out a
fireball, but Kano dodges it then reaches down and picks Liu
up by his throat.
KANO
Youre a dirty little fuck, arent
you? Huh? Tryin to burn me. Let me
return the favour. You aint gonna
get high from this acid.
Kano drags Liu towards the olive green acid. He picks him up
and is about to cast him into the liquid when Liu Kang
increases the heat of his body and burns Kanos arms.
KANO
(in pain)
FUCK! Im gonna kill you! Youre as
good as dead!
Liu falls hard to the ground, just missing the edge of the
acid pit. He rolls to his side then flips back onto his
feet. Unleashing a series of fireballs on Kano, Liu steps
forward then jumps up and once again pounds him in the chest
with a fly kick. Kano is ablaze and stumbles backwards. Liu
lands on his feet then jumps up again and hits Kano with his
bicycle kick. Kano blocks the move with his burning arms
then retaliates with a cannonball. Liu blocks the cannonball
and as Kano is about to land, Liu crouches low and unleashes
a powerful uppercut that sends Kano into the acid pit behind
him.
Strangely, Kano doesnt make a sound. He stares at Liu Kang
with hatred as his body disintegrates into liquid pulp.
Liu Kang falls to his knees and cups his face with both
hands. He sighs deeply, then slowly stands and makes his way
back outside.
CUT TO:

59.

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - OUTSIDE THE STONE BUILDING. DAY

OVER THE SHOULDER: As Liu swings the big doors shut, we see
Reptile and Rayden locked in battle.
They are fighting hand to hand with their own styles of
martial arts. Rayden teleports from time to time to attack
Reptile from a new angle. Reptile disappears and spits acid
at Rayden. Rayden returns the acid with his own bolts of
electricity.
Liu Kang steps forward and unleashes a series of fireballs
towards Reptile. They hit him from behind and cause him to
turn his attention on Liu Kang.
This proves to be a mistake as Rayden
to paralyze Reptile with electricity.

How was your fight with your
opponent?
LIU KANG
Hes dead, though he almost beat
me.
RAYDEN
Where does the Kamidogu want you to
go next?
LIU KANG
I dont know, its a blur.

RAYDEN
Hmm.. Perhaps your still suffering
from the electricty I put inside
your head earlier. Sit a moment and
I will remove it.

Liu Kang does as hes instructed and squats on the ground

before Rayde. Rayden places his hands on the outside of
Lius temple. We see a trickle of electrictity buzz out of
Lius head and into the awaiting hands of Rayden.
Raydens eyes are alive with electricity.
Liu stands up quickly and sets off at a cracking pace.
RAYDEN
Wait! Do not rush into this.
LIU KANG
It is so close Rayden - I can feel
it.
Rayden teleports next to Liu Kang but struggles to keep up
with him. Both of the walk briskly towards the forest.
FADE OUT
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ARENA. DAY
Shang Tsung paces back and forth, his hands clenched behind
his back. He looks to the entrance of the arena. Reptile
once again materializes out of nowhere.
Reptile looks dejected as he bows before his master.
SHANG TSUNG
What happened?
REPTILE
Daga sisth nakra bur - jaga dis
lantek bak vrah Rayden. Tegra shtik
rusha rusha ven sisth tusk.
TRANSLATION: The chosen is not alone - I was stopped by
Rayden. The chosen managed to defeat his opponent.
Shang Tsung looks visibly annoyed. He walks up to Reptile
and stands about a foot away from him. He stares into his
eyes then unleashes a viscious slap across Reptiles face.
Reptile does not react, he accepts the hit and bows his head
- clearly ashamed.

SHANG TSUNG
(calm and compassionate)
You will not fail me again. Will
you?
Reptile is about to answer when the PULSE rings again.
Reptile shakes his head madly, like hes being stung by a
hundred bees. His eyes glaze over with battle lust as the
pain subsides.
SHANG TSUNG
Make me proud.
Reptile grins through his pointed fangs, nods once and runs
through the exit of the arena.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - FOREST. DAY
Liu and Rayden stop running through the thick jungle. A
mountain range lies before them in the distance, they are
making their way towards it.
The PULSE can be heard once more.
Rayden looks to Liu Kang to see if he heard it also.
RAYDEN
Your next opponent is coming.
LIU KANG
Im ready for it.
RAYDEN
I will stop any that interfere.
Concentrate only on your opponent.
LIU KANG
Yes Master.
In the thick jungle ahead of them we see the ferns and thick
underbrush being pushed aside by an unseen force.
Liu Kang immediately hurls a fireball in the direction of
the movement. It sets fire to the dead wood behind the
invisible person, but fails to hit it.
A large gob of acid jets towards Liu Kang, but he steps out
of the way of it and moves warily around in a circle,
waiting to see where the attack will come from next.

Rayden moves to the side to spectate the fight.

Reptile attacks again, this time with a punch to Liu Kangs
kidneys. As Liu tries to face him, he disappears once more.
RAYDEN
Use all your senses Liu Kang. Smell
him, breathe him in.
Liu nods to acknowledge hearing Raydens words. He closes
his eyes and listens for Reptiles movement.
Quick as a flash, he ducks and sweep kicks the legs out from
under the invisible Reptile. Liu then lances out with his
fingers and digs them into the skin of Reptile, tearing down
with his fingernails.
Reptile starts bleeding green blood from the rip in his
skin. He momentarily appears again, but is quick to
disappear once more.
Liu can be seen looking for the blood, which doesnt
disappear but seems to hover in the air wherever Reptile
moves.
Liu Kang fires off a fireball which hits Reptile in the
back. He appears again and turns to face Liu Kang. His hands
cup together before him and he forms a ball of green energy
- like a ball of lightning. He casts it at Liu Kang then
crouches.
The ball moves slowly through the air. Liu tries to block
it, but it seems to explode on impact and knocks Liu high
into the sky. Reptile crouches below him and thunders an
uppercut into his jaw as he lands. Blood bubbles from the
mouth of Liu Kang as he lays struggling to breathe on the
ground several meters away from his opponent.
RAYDEN
Release the dragon within your soul
Liu Kang! Fight to survive.
CLOSE UP: Reptiles fingers are lined with pointed claw-like
finger nails. He flicks them out and moves in for the kill.
Liu Kang turns over and slowly pushes himself back to his
feet. He staggers for a few moments to regain his bearings.
Reptile rips his mask off, revealing his razor sharp pointed
teeth and two retractable fangs. His forked tongue darts out
to taste the air.
As his mouth opens, Liu Kang screams a war cry and releases
a powerful fireball at Reptiles head. The ball of fire hits
its mark, burning the tongue and mouth of Reptile.

Reptile chokes as acid drips from his fangs on the ground.

He grasps his throat and shakes his head. His snake-like
eyes - cold and devoid of any human traits - are now locked
on Liu Kang. The two warriors pause for a second and stare
at each other with hatred. Then they run towards each other
- Liu Kang hits Reptile with an elbow to the face just as
Reptile strikes Liu Kang with a headbutt to the bridge of
his nose. Liu Kangs head snaps back as Reptile falls to the
ground. Liu Kang reaches up and straightens his nose - it
was clearly broken from the impact, blood still drips from
each nostril.
As Reptile struggles to his knees, Liu Kang stands in front
of him. Reptile looks up at his foe, his eyes unblinking.
Liu Kang raises his right arm and sends a powerful chop down
on Reptiles skull. Every bit of remaining energy is driven
into the blow. (This is a homage to the Test Your Might
sequence in MK1)
Reptiles skull caves in from the blow, in much the same way
as the bottle scene in Pans Labyrinth. His eyes roll back
into their sockets and he falls to the ground.
Liu Kang cradles his hand, clearly the blow has injured it.
Rayden teleports beside him and helps him sit down.
MEDIUM SHOT: Rayden kneels before Liu Kang and inspects his
nose - like a corner man for a boxing match.
RAYDEN
It was broken, but youve pulled it
back. How do you feel?
LIU KANG
I think my jaw is fractured and my
hand is numb with pain. How many
more do you think I will need to
kill for this to end?
RAYDEN
Apart from the Kamidogu and the two
of us, there are only two others on
the island. One of them is Goro,
that much I am certain. I do not
know who the other is, but I sense
he is from Outworld.
LIU KANG
Outworld? Where is that?

RAYDEN
In a solar system ninety eight
light years from Earth. I visited
the place with my brother many
years ago. Earth has one
intelligent species - humans. Think
of how many wars have raged on your
planet with just one species ruling
it. Outworld has eight intelligent
species and they all vie for power.
It is in constant turmoil. Each of
the species once had their own
world that once belonged to a great
colony - Outworld was the the
largest world in the colony. The
other worlds suffered an ice age
when one of the suns was shadowed
by a new planet that entered the
solar system. This caused the most
powerful beings of each world to
migrate to Outworld thousands of
years ago.
LIU KANG
I can see why they need the
Kamidogu then. It could benefit
them more than it could help Earth.
RAYDEN
In the right hands it could help
everyone. In the wrong hands,
entire species could be wiped out worlds could be forever changed.
Earth is not part of the colony,
but in time it could be. Earth is
still rich in natural resources there is much it could provide the
colony. Humans wouldnt stand a
chance against the might of the
Empire. You may end up as nothing
more than slaves under a ruthless
Tyrant.
LIU KANG
I see. If I do become the champion
of Mortal Kombat I will travel with
you to Outworld and see what I can
do to help them.
RAYDEN
We will not leave here together
Liu. For one of us, the journey
must end here. There can be only
one winner in this tournament.

Are you saying I must fight you?
RAYDEN
Let us not worry about that for
now. You must recover for your next
challenge - it will be much harder
than your last.
LIU KANG
I barely defeated the last two,
what chance do I have?
RAYDEN
You still draw breath, do you not?
LIU KANG
Yes, you know that but make your
point.
RAYDEN
That is all you really need for a
chance at winning this, Liu Kang.
The past is fixed in place - it
cannot be changed. The future is
always moving, no one can predict
what will happen next. Now, here in
the present, this is what you need
to worry about - everything else is
meaningless. Draw the air into your
lungs and be thankful that youre
still here. Just by being here, you
have a chance.
LIU KANG
That was very philosophical Rayden.
I feel like Ive been hit by a
train and you tell me all I need is
air to survive.
RAYDEN
What more do you need?
LIU KANG
Time to heal - to rest and recover.
RAYDEN
You dont have that. Lets keep
moving towards the Kamidogu - I
suspect its somewhere inside those
mountains ahead of us.

Liu Kang stands up and looks towards the mountains.

You would be right once more,
Thunder God. I sense it now, its
call is getting louder in my head.
Images of what I will have flood my
mind.
RAYDEN
It will try to take over you, as it
tried to take over me. If your soul
is strong enough, you will be able
to resist it.
The two men start walking towards the mountains again.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - OUTSIDE GOROS LAIR. DAY
Goro is using the thick branch of a tree to pull his huge
body up. We see him do three strong chin-ups on the branch.
He falls to the ground and begins stretching his arms and
rotating his torso.
The sound of the PULSE can be heard once again. Goro throws
back his big arms and roars - readily accepting the pain it
brings. His face is a mask of pain but he just roars like a
lion into the jungle ahead.
CUT TO:
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - FOREST PATH. DAY
Back on the forest path, Rayden and Liu Kang stop in their
tracks as they hear the PULSE and the ROAR that follows it.
RAYDEN
(quietly spoken)
Goro.
Liu Kang appears fearful, but nods and the two continue on
the path towards the lair of Goro.
FADE OUT

INT. DESERTED ISLAND - CAVERN, GOROS LAIR. DAY
FADE IN
Inside Goros lair, we see the eyes of Goro against the
blackness of the huge cavern. He stares at the entrance of
the cave, waiting for his opponent to enter.
Liu Kang and Rayden appear at the entrance, Rayden enters
first. His staff buzzes with electricity, lighting up the
cavern for all to see.
Goro stands with his feet shoulder width apart. Liu Kang
enters the cave and walks through to the cavern inside. He
never takes his eyes off the huge monster in the middle of
the chamber.
GORO
Are you here to see that your
apprentice wins Thunder God?
RAYDEN
No. I will not diminish his soul to
ensure a victory here. He will
either win or die.
GORO
He will die, none that have fought
me before have won.
RAYDEN
Who is the Outworlder I can sense?
GORO
He is human born - a sorceror named
Shang Tsung. Your brother sent him
here to bring the Kamidogu back to
Outworld where it belongs.
RAYDEN
You help him?
GORO
I do what I must. Enough of this
talk. Send your boy to his death.
Liu Kang circles Goro, watching his footwork - looking for
any kind of weakness. Goro moves fluidly, this is his
chamber - he knows it well.
Liu throws a fireball that hits Goro in his upper left arm.
Goro returns the attack with a fireball of his own. Liu
jumps over it and lands awkwardly on the watery floor of the
chamber.

Goro leaps high into the air and lands before Liu Kang. He
reaches out and tries to grab him with his massive arms.
Liu Kang sends a flurry of punches into Goros stomach and
chest, then runs up his body and executes a backflip kick
that hits Goro squarely in the jaw - forcing him to stumble.
Liu follows this up with a bicycle kick that drives Goro
back even further. On the last kick, Liu strikes Goros
chest and performs a second backflip. As hes mid air, he
suddenly floats in the air and unleashes two strong
fireballs that hit Goro in the face. Goro stumbles back even
more, his face is blackened and smoking from the attacks. He
bellows a roar and runs at Liu.
Liu jumps high and performs his fly kick, hitting Goro in
the mid section of his stomach. Still Goro is on his feet.
He reaches out and grabs Liu Kang with his lower arms. With
his upper arms he pounds down hard on Liu Kang, hitting him
over and over again. He bench presses him high over his head
and slams him down into the ground. Liu Kang doesnt move.
Goro turns to face Rayden. The look on Raydens face speaks
volumes - he thinks Liu Kang is beaten.
GORO
Ill make this quick, he was a good
fighter.
Goro reaches down to pick Liu Kang up. Just before his hands
manage to grab hold of Liu Kang, we see Liu turn over and
cast a fireball into Goros face. This causes Goro to stand
fully upright and grab his face in pain. He screams out in
pain.
POV: Liu Kang as hes lying on his back. We see him spot a
number of stalactites hanging from the ceiling of the
cavern. Using his final reserves of strength, he fires three
fireballs at the ceiling. Each one hits a different
stalactite. They break loose and plunge downwards. The first
one rams through Goros shoulder, the second one through his
back and the last one punches down through Goros head. He
stands there for a few seconds not realizing what just
happened. Then he falls on top of Liu Kang.
Rayden rushes

Liu Kang. Liu Kang is out cold. Rayden pulls
cleared area in the cavern then checks his
if hes alive.

There is no movement from Liu Kang, but see that his body
has been badly beaten.
Then the sound of the PULSE rings out again.

Raydens eyes are alive with electricity - he grimaces with

the pain of the call. Stumbling in the water he soon falls
to his knees before Liu Kang.
Holding Liu Kangs head in both his hands he stares into the
face of his opponent.
RAYDEN
I hope my trust is well placed in
you Liu Kang. Do not let me down.
Rayden charges Liu Kangs head with electricity. His hands
move down his body, injecting the flow of electrical
currents into his chest, arms and legs. He gives everything
he has by gently surging power back into the ripped muscles
and damaged body of his apprentice.
CLOSE UP: We see the life being drained out of Rayden as he
gives everything he has to Liu Kang. His face becomes pale
and the lightning that has danced inside his eyes finally
goes out. He slumps forward, dead.
FADE OUT
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ARENA. DAY
We hear the PULSE ring for the last time. Shang Tsung
accepts the pain like an old friend - he laughs as it rips
through his mind, succumbing to his greatest desires and
repelling all his fears. He is infused with the power of
battle lust.
He walks into the middle of the arena and waits, the large
robe he wears blows steadily in the wind. Shang Tsung looks
up at the sky and notices storm clouds circling. They rush
into each other as lightning crackles and thunder rolls.
CUT TO:
INT. DESERTED ISLAND - CAVERN, GOROS LAIR. DAY
Liu Kang wakes up coughing. He sits upright and reaches down
to feel his ribs. They are no longer broken. He feels his
nose, it is no longer swollen and broken either. Slowly he
stands up and looks around.
The body of Goro lies before him, the body of Rayden is just
behind him.
Liu immediately falls down beside Rayden and rolls him over.
He leans in to listen for any breathing. He tries to shake
him awake, but there is no movement.

Liu sits there, holding Rayden. Slowly he lowers the dead

Thunder Gods head and stands up.
Liu is unaware that Rayden has given his life force to heal
him. He looks down at Rayden, then at the exit of the cave which leads to the arena.
He walks over to the same ledge that Kung Lao valiantly
tried to climb 500 years ago and pulls himself up.
Standing on the ledge he looks down Rayden once more.
LIU KANG
I will avenge you Master. I swear I
will kill whoever did this to you.
He exits the cave for the arena outside.
FADE OUT
EXT. DESERTED ISLAND - ARENA. DAY
POV Shang Tsung: From Shang Tsungs perspective we can see
Liu Kang step through the entrance to the arena area. Liu
Kang appears badly beaten, he limps and stumbles as he
approaches the fighting platform.
CLOSE UP: Shang Tsung smirks as he watches the badly beaten
warrior make his way up the steps towards him.
SHANG TSUNG
Your soul is mine!
Casting off his robe, we see Shang is wearing a sleeveless
vest with pantaloons and boots. He bows his head briefly and
closes his eyes. His body immediately morphs into Sub Zero.
Liu Kang is confused and he steps cautiously around the
sorceror. Shang Tsung casts an ice spear with his right arm
and hurls it at Liu Kang. Liu dodges the attack.
Shang immediately morphs into Johnny Cage and slides towards
him with a shadow kick. Liu blocks the attack and defends
himself with spinning back handed punch that hits Shang
Tsung in the face.
Shang transforms into Scorpion and disappears out of reach
of Liu Kang. From behind Liu Kang we see the wraith form of
Scorpion shoot the deadly talon out of his palm towards
Lius head.

SLOW MOTION: Liu moves incredibly fast to the side and

dodges the talon. He counters by grabbing the muscle cord
and pulling on it, sending Shang Tsung towards him. He jumps
up and connects Shang Tsung with his fly kick.
Shang Tsung disappears again.
For a few seconds we cant see any else but Liu Kang in the
arena. Then a jet of acid flings out of the air towards Liu
Kangs face. He swings his head under the attack and
crouches low. He releases a fireball in the direction that
the acid came from. It strikes Shang Tsung and sets him on
fire, causing him to reveal his form as Reptile.
Shang pats his chest and puts the flames out then shape
shifts again, this time into the form of Kano. He
cannonballs into Liu Kang, knocking him off his feet.
Drawing his bowie knife, Shang moves in to slit Lius
throat. Liu flip jumps forward and fights Shang Tsung with
martial arts. Shang, still holding the bowie knife, lashes
out with the knife while throwing big punches with his other
arm. The display of martial arts goes on for several
minutes, before Liu jumps up and lands the bicycle kick on
Shang Tsung.
Again, Shang transforms - this time into Rayden. Liu pauses
in his attack and looks at his friend and mentor.
SHANG TSUNG (AS RAYDEN)
Why did you kill me? I tried to
help you!
LIU KANG
(shocked)
I didnt...
Shang uses the moment to send a bolt of electricity into Liu
Kang. The bolt strikes Liu and appears to paralyze him
momentarily. Shang transforms back into himself and walks
forward to finish Liu Kang.
Liu Kang waits until Shang is close enough, then he steps
forward and grabs Shang Tsung by the head with both hands.
Liu unleashes the stored electricity from Rayden into the
head of Shang Tsung. He was feigning the paralysis to lure
Shang close enough to attack. Shang starts frothing at the
mouth as his body shudders and convulses with the powerful
surge of electricity. When the electricity runs out, Liu
uses his fire to set Shang Tsung ablaze.

We watch as Shang Tsung burns to death, the skin melting off

his bones. As he slumps to the ground, we see Liu step back
and football kick Shang Tsung in the head, snapping his neck
and bending the head backwards into an impossible position.
The sky clears rapidly as Liu stands in the middle of the
arena and looks towards the heavens.
The PULSE rings long and true. Beside the throne and viewing
area of the arena we see the black marble altar materialize.
It solidifies in the arena. In the middle of the altar is
the brighly glowing Kamidogu.
Liu walks over to the altar and looks at the Kamidogu for a
few seconds, uncertain if he wants to pick it up or not.
Slowly, he reaches down and picks it up. The Kamidogu is a
flat round token, no bigger than a large coin. In the middle
of it is the head of a dragon (the Mortal Kombat logo).
Liu clenches the Kamidogu in his hand and closes his eyes.
When he opens them again, we see Rayden standing before him.
RAYDEN
I knew my trust was well placed.
Well done Liu Kang, you are the
winner of Mortal Kombat. The
Kamidogu is yours. Why did you
bring me back to life?
Liu reaches out to touch Rayden, to make sure hes really
there.
LIU KANG
If it were not for you I would have
died. I owed you this.
RAYDEN
Does the Kamidogu not fight to
possess you?
LIU KANG
No.
RAYDEN
You are the rightful bearer Liu
Kang. It has waited an eternity for
you.
LIU KANG
What happens next?

Anything you want. You have the
power of a God now.
LIU KANG
First, I want to go home. Ill
decide what to do from there.
Liu holds Raydens arm and closes his eyes once more.
FADE OUT
SUPERIMPOSITION:
The Kamidogu made Liu Kang immortal. Rayden returned to
Earth with Liu Kang and together they used the Kamidogu to
garner peace through an abundance of resources for all of
Earths inhabitants.
Next they travelled to Outworld. Using the Kamidogu they
were able to restore the troubled colony back to its former
glory.
Peace finally existed in the galaxy...
But not everyone desires peace. Raydens brother, Shao Kahn,
would never be content until the Kamidogu was his.
But that is a tale for another day.
