The last value is also known as the total range which
represents the volume of meters awarded to a particular
meter vendor.

Note: * Except for 712 series. For example, 712JE061234, the 06 next to 712JE is the acquired
year, 2006, and the 1234 is the series range.

Revision History

03.17.2010

01.31.2011

02.09.2011

Removed character E on the 4th Alpha Character since no meter manufacturer

produces kWh, kW only option. Typically, manufacturers incorporate TOUreadiness when the meters are required with kW-readiness
Introduced a new 5th Character, O, to uniquely identify a meter with
communication port plus external GPRS/GSM modem.
Included the meter brands in the nomenclature with the 6th character as its
allocated slot. Thus moving the sequential numbering of the meter to 7th to 12th
character.
Introduced an additional character to identify the meter brand. For 2011, the
temporary agreement made with CMS-IS is to fix the number of characters to
11 until such time that CMS v10 is rolled out. Thus, for the acquired meter
quantities that is less than 99,999 units, the pre-2011 six (6) sequential numbering
will be reduced to five (5) digits, replacing the extra zero (0) with the character
letter that would identify the brand name. Except for the GE FM2S meters that is
awarded to Gepmici, where the meter quantities exceeded 99,999 units (302,500
units to be exact). Thus, the agreement was to temporarily adopt the pre-2011
metering nomenclature style for the GE FM2S meter deliveries since all FM2S
for 2011 is easily identified with the GE brand anyway.

01.30.2012

Reactivated E on the 4th Alpha Character and amended its definition to

electronic meters for EMC application. These meters have optimal amperage
rating for low load sensitivity, with battery backed-up tilt down display, etc.
Introduced a new 4th Character, L, for meter with capability to measure
delivered and/or received energy.

08.16.2012

Introduced a new 6th Character, C, for Enertek brand.

1.) Added P in the 4th character for the smart meters intended for the Proof-ofconcept. 2.) Amended the 5th character N to specify its communication
capabilities. 3.) Added P and Q in the 5th character in order to include other
communication technologies. 4.) Added two new brands of meters, H for
Echelon and N for Enel.
