The iPad Air 2 represents the pinnacle of Apples amazing manufacturing ability
The iPad Air 2 is a classic example of a product
taking the best of the previous generation
and making all of the practical areas even
better than before. Some may see the subtle
improvements in the Air 2 as displaying a
lack of innovation, but those who use iPads
will fully understand the benefits that the
enhancements offer. The original Air was
designed to make the full-size iPad more
portable than ever before and at only 7.5mm
thick, it truly was. The fact that Apple has
shaved a further 1.4mm off the thickness does
not sound that impressive, but when you pick
it up and use it on a daily basis, the decreased
depth and weight are very noticeable. Indeed,

iPad mini 3
A sturdy stop-gap
When this enhanced tablet entered the market, we werent exactly blown away by
the specifications when compared with the iPad mini 2. Certainly the most notable
addition was the inclusion of Touch ID, using a sensor housed in the Home button.
This made it instantly easier to secure your device and make purchases online with
Apple Pay. A great deal of third-party apps have also started to incorporate Apple
Pay as a way to purchase goods, so you dont have to worry about inputting your
payment details into numerous shopping apps and websites.
Sat awkwardly in no-mans land between the iPad mini 2 and 4 it is hard to find
other merits to recommend this model, but for many that will be enough.
Blinged!
Your golden iPad
Being almost identical to
the iPad mini 2 to terms of
technical specifications, the
mini 3 did at least come in a
new gold colour which many
people were apparently
requesting. The new paint
job did give the device a
more saintly sheen but it
probably wasnt enough.
iPad accessories
An iPad used with the right accessories can
become twice the machine
Smart Case
Wireless drives
A new keyboard
Its taken a mighty long time but Apple has finally released an attractive stylus and this one is
designed to work with the iPad Pro, to complete that executive package. Designed to be perfectly
in tune with the multitasking features in iOS 10, the Apple Pencil feels instantly intuitive and works
exactly as you expect it to, with laser efficiency. The subsystem scans the signal of the device 240
times per second, providing it with twice as many data points as your finger. The result is incredible
responsiveness with no noticeable lag from your eye to the screen. As you experiment with using
the device you will discover that the pressure sensitive nib serves up a myriad of possibilities.
Stand it up
The idea of a desktop stand for an iPad is not a natural one, but
once you use one you will wonder how you managed without it.
If you purchase a stand for your iPad, you will be able to keep it
charged when you are working at a desk and also use your iPad for
background tasks that you may not have previously considered.
Favourite photos can be streamed over the screen as you work
and you can also leave playlists of music playing while viewing the
album art. News and weather can be updated on the screen and
these are just the tip of the iceberg. A stand can also keep your
iPad in a much safer position where it is less likely to get damaged.
New headphones
No limits!
There is no limit to what you can do with an iPad and the vast
range of available accessories for specialist tasks take the flexibility
ever further. Music creation can be supplemented with keyboards
and rigs that let you mix the songs you create. Camera stands let
you take time-lapse photographs and you can even buy styluses
which work like paintbrushes to let you create stunning works of
art. Microscopes, game controllers, remote-control cars, drones and
many other varied accessories are available for your iPad to make
it one of the most important and useful devices you could own.
An iPadmarried to the best accessories can become the computer
you always dreamed of.

Let iOS 10 do the hard
work when photo searching
In iOS 10, the Photos app has
been improved in a variety of
ways, but one of the most
useful new features is the ability
to find photos based on almost any search
phrase you use. The only limit to the system
is your imagination, and if you can throw off
the limits you have been used to in the past,
you should be able to find any photo you
want no matter how old it is. We shall now
give some examples of it in use.

Make email

Mail
Apples Mail app has got all the tools you could ever
need to keep your emails neatly organised. From
your initial inbox, you can sort your messages into
multiple folders so that you can always access what you need,
when you need it. The Mailbox feature is super-handy, too.
For example, creating different mailboxes allows you to keep
your emails of different topics separate. Say youre planning
a party create a specific Party mailbox and send all of your
emails about the party to that mailbox; then, when you need to
quickly and easily find some details, you can simply navigate to
your Party mailbox, where all the emails will be there waiting for
you! Flagging messages is also a great feature simply tap the
flag icon on the email when youre browsing, then head to your
Flagged mailbox to see all of these messages in one place. This
is a great feature for when youre short on time simply flag the
message to remind yourself its important and then check back
to your Flagged folder later on. Your VIP mailbox is also a great
time-saver. If you want to be notified of emails from specific
people, add these contacts to your VIP list to make sure you
never miss their messages again.

Siri will ask you to say Hey Siri for the first
time. Make sure you are in a quiet environment
because the more nuances the system hears,
the more accurately it will work.
Add family
members
Telling Siri who your family
members are will help speed
up future recognition for many
common tasks. Simply say
something like Joanne is my

name, at which point you will be
able to say Text my wife in the
future and Siri will know who
you are talking about.

While writing a daily journal seems like an oldfashioned idea, there are lots of good reasons to
try to keep one. It can help you focus, make it easier
to keep track of your progress, and, if nothing else, be a safe
place for you to vent your frustration. Journals let you express
yourself creatively without fear of being judged. You can use
your journal as a place to track the important events in your life
so you can remember them and share them with your friends.
Previously, youd be faced with a pen and a blank page to
document your day. Lucky for us, we can use Day One Journal,
an elegant iPad app that lets you easily enter the details of your
day, but also gives you a way to add photos, locations, and
more. Tag your entries so you can sort and view just what youre
looking for. Day One can even post the local weather on your
entry. You can keep your journal private, but you can also share
selected entries online via Twitter, or send them through email
as attractive HTML or PDF files. You can even save your journal
on iCloud or Dropbox so you can access it anywhere.

Essential
the 64-bit architecture is backed up by a tenhour battery life that lets you play all day long.
And then theres that screen in all its 9.7-inch
glory. Its Retina display clocks up a resolution
of 2048x1536, with 3.1 million pixels in total
and 264 per inch. The iPad Air 2s display is also
thinner and has more vivid colours and greater
contrast. It also has the least reflective display of
any tablet in the world thanks to a brilliant antireflective coating. All in all then, the iPad is an
ideal machine for gaming, even those high-end
games that ask a lot of your mobile device.
In the feature, were going to lay bare exactly

1: Get started
Scrabble is a tough game to
master and it does require
a good knowledge of the
English language. Look at
your letters and determine
what words you can spell
out with them on the
board. The bigger the word
and more obscure the
letters the better. You want
to accrue as high of a score
as possible.
2: Become a master
The chances of stringing
a big scoring word arent
high unless youre a whizz
with words, but one way
to improve as you play is
by activating the Teacher
mode, which tells you the
highest scoring selection of
letters after youve played
your turn. Soak up those
monster words!
It doesnt matter what kind of app the BBC make, whether its its Sport,
Weather or the iPlayer app, they are invariably superbly designed and
intuitive to use. Thankfully this rule also translates into childrens apps,
and the CBeebies Playtime game sits proudly on top of the Free chart in
the App Store as a result. Guaranteed to delight and entertain, CBeebies
Playtime is a series of playful games and fun features that little ones will
love. It looks great on the iPad and works just as well, while the sound
effects are brilliant.
