EXPERIMENT 1
Colligative Properties of Solutions
I.
Introduction
Colligative properties of solutions are properties that depend upon the
concentration of solute molecules or ions, but not upon the identity of the solute.
Colligative properties include freezing point depression, boiling point elevation, vapor
pressure lowering, and osmotic pressure.
In this experiment, we would be able to differentiate the types of dispersed
systems and demonstrate colligative properties of solutions such as freezing point
depression and boiling point elevation.
