MEDIA FUNGILICIOUS
I and a sculptor are currently refining a
concept that has been with me for nearly a
decade, and has only recently gained
enough sharpness to properly speculate on,
and by speculating collect all manner of
images and ideas. The idea currently being
worked on is the analogous relationship the
fungi organism has with our massmedia
society, which is a hybrid technoorganic
society (man & machine). Both organisms
possess excellent networking abilities, one
through a long evolution of symbiosis with
nature and another through a swift cultural
evolution, giving rise to a indirect network
of influence within each species. In short,
we strive to seek deeper ways of creating
analogies between fungi and humanity
which would benefit our understanding of
networked society.

VIRTUAL KIDNAPPING
The project in many ways sought to break
borders within social circles by allowing
people to redefine the 'taboo' behind the
word kidnapping when in a social media
game its other borderbreaker was the
social atmosphere and dialogue which
happened when the virtual kidnapper
changed participants' virtual locations, in
effect virtually kidnapping their profile's
location. A game then commenced where
each participant would make a game of
narrating how they moved in the new
location, or what transport/lodging they
used to get back home.
