Conference Night Reflection:

Our first conference night of the year was focused on schedules for students
the next year. After realizing that this did not work well; teachers and parents both
confused why they were there and what their jobs were, we needed a change. Our
second conference night was focused on grades. However to get attendance by
parents and students we had a couple of built in meetings.
First I would like to discuss setting up the conferences. In the past
conferences were scheduled by the teacher sharing their outlook calendar to
secretaries and then they were the one to enter the information needed. This year
however, we had parents schedule through one individual person. This helped
create less confusion but put a lot of stress on one person. The artifact you see is a
signup sheet for the teachers. I did take out all student names.
We also held meetings with senior class parents and students. This meeting
was about all the important events the parents needed to know. Since the first
conference night, we found that not many senior parents came to the FASFA
meeting. There is important college or career information we need to finish up. The
attendance for the senior meetings were still low. For the next year we are going to
need to figure out how to get senior class parents involved.
