The indoor fiber distribution terminal (iFDT) provides multiple dwelling unit (MDU)
applications with a compact and secure family of enclosures for connecting fiber cables
at MDUs. The iFDT products utilize a rugged double-hinged design that effectively
isolates the splicing and cable termination in the rear compartment from the
jumper interconnection in the front compartment. Separating the cable splicing and
termination into a layered configuration provides a space-efficient and craft-friendly
interface unit. The layered iFDT staggered interconnection field provides ease of access
to all connections. The iFDT enclosure provides standard SC/APC connections and
parking adapters for locating the connectorized pigtails prior to deployment.

ADCs new OmniReach rapid fiber system is designed to eliminate the unique
challenges posed by todays multiple dwelling unit (MDU) buildings, when
deploying FTTX networks. MDU buildings present service providers with diverse
challenges such as varying cable pathways and distances between logical
distribution points, demanding installation schedules and increased quality
risks due to splicing. ADCs rapid fiber system is designed specifically to assist
service providers when deploying MDU optical fiber distribution networks for
a variety of architectures and do so in less time and with less total cost on
a consistent, high quality basis for every building. ADCs rapid fiber system is
the ultimate plug-and-play solution for delivering fast, durable and reliable
service for mid- and high-rise MDUs and is available in multiple configurations
to meet the unique requirements of each building. ADCs OmniReach rapid
fiber distribution terminal serves as the final distribution point between
the IFDH and living unit. It eliminates the need for splice cases and separate
cable assemblies by integrating the patent-pending RapidReel cable payout
system. The RapidReel system includes a built-in reel enabling quick payoff of
up to 500 ft. of MT stubbed 12 or 24 count optical fiber cable from a single 6
in. x 9 in. wall box. The MT stub is pulled for installation into either the MDU
collector enclosure or directly to an IFDH equipped with an MT patch panel.
After installation, the spool flanges can be broken away and the wall box is
secured to the wall safely storing the remaining slack cable. Use of factory
terminated and tested MT connectors instead of splicing provides a plug and
play environment that reduces labor costs and speeds project completion.

The V-Linx terminal is a

The input cable for the V-Linx terminal
is a 50 foot twelve-fiber ribbon preterminated drop cable
installed at the factory. The drop cables are terminated
with multifiber push-on (MPO) connectors providing the
interface with the V-Linx combiner for a collective floor
distribution design within a building.

Electrical protection at the building entrance terminal is essential

for protecting sensitive electronic equipment and personnel
located within the customers premises. The 190-Type multipair
BET provides indoor station protection for exposed lines (where
the cross-connect field is separate from the protector panel) at the
building entrance. The protector panel consists of a metal housing
containing mountings for protector modules (sold separately). A
wide range of convenient, interchangeable, UL Listed or RUSapproved plug-in protector modules provide the necessary voltage
protection. It also includes a 25 ft. (7.62 m), 26 AWG stub cable
on the input side that serves as a fusible link, a 24 AWG cable on
the output side for terminating the customer equipment and two
connectors for external ground connections. The internal wiring
design prevents protector bypass and a cable pass-through feature
allows for side-by-side and top-to-bottom installation. Type 190
Multipair BET comes in 50- and 100-pair sizes.

Overvoltage protection is provided by a 3-element gas discharge tube rated at

350 V nominal with a fail-safe device, which provides insured protection in case

Sneak current protection is provided by two self-resetting 2.2 ohm PTC resistors
with a hold current of 180 mA the PTC resistors are advantageous compared

Indoor Building Entrance Terminal
Electrical protection at the building entrance terminal is

essential for protecting sensitive electronic equipment
and personnel located within the customers premises.
The CommScope 489A, B, J and L BET family provides this
protection. Designed for use wherever exposed, outside
plant (OSP) cables enter the customers building. The
unit provides convenient, interchangeable, UL Listed or
RUS-approved plug-in protector modules, which provide
the necessary voltage protection. Hinged, lockable covers
are standard and provide additional mechanical protection
and security. The 489A, B, J and L units feature a generous
splice chamber with cable pass through. Removable
grommets allow easy cable placing and splicing when the
terminals are stacked. In the splice chamber, a No. 6 ground strap is provided for connecting the shield of the OSP cable
to the building ground. Dimensions on all 489-type protectors are 12.4 in. H x 15.1 in. W x 5.3 in. D for single stack units
and 12.4 in. H x 15.1 in. W x 8.2 in. D for double stack units.
