ABSTRACT

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. the cement industry company with the
trademark "Tiga Roda" was founded in 1985. Now also known as the leading cement
industry in Indonesia and abroad. In producing cement performed with good and stable
process so that the resulting product is able to meet the quality standards set by the
company. To achieve maximal cement quality PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk.
especially on Plant 4 was replaced the separator 4b because of age old and difficult to
achieve the quality in which the separator is used already since 1980. Finish mill Plant 4b
before replacement used the 2nd generation Cyclone Air Separator and that was replaced
with a High Efficiency Dynamic Separator on July 23, 2014. This replacement to stabilize
the finish mill operations and improve product quality in terms of increase cement fineness
and reduction of cement residual on 45 m.
The purpose of the research is to analyze the performance of the separator before and
after replacement and change the quality of cement products. Sampling is done on May 23,
2014 before replacement of the separator and September 9, 2014 after the separator was
replaced. As support data quality of the analysis performed in May 2014, September 2014
and August 2015. From the separator samples tested particle size distribution obtained in
the form of % passing particle size distribution and then analyzed efficiency and separator
performance using tromp curve as assessment indicators. Separation of cement products is
very important because the material is separated must meet product quality standards that
have been defined. PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. for Portland Composite Cement
(PCC) 3800-4000 cm2 / g and the residue as small as possible. After replacement of the
separator is obtained results of increased efficiency in the separation of the finish mill 4b
increased by 20% from 64.34% to 84.95% and the quality of cement products in the form
of value blaine able to reach 4200 cm2 / g and 45 m residue capable of reaching 10%. So
with used of High Efficiency Separator with third generation technology is better
performance and can improve the quality of cement products produced.
