Objective: To demonstrate the results of the multifocal
intraocular lens AcrySof IQ ReSTOR in presbyopic and hyperopic patients, to eliminate the use of optical glasses. H0: The multifocal intraocular lens AcrySof IQ ReSTOR is not the solution for hyperopic and presbyopic patients to dispense of the use of optical glasses. Methodology: This study consist in to measure the visual capacity of the presbyopic and hyperopic patients operated with the multifocal lens AcrySof IQ ReSTOR. Visual acuity in far distance, dependence of optical lenses after surgery, residual refractive error, presence of halos and subsequent treatment with YAG laser was evaluated using objectives exams such as autorefractometer for determining ametropia, optotype projector for measurement of visual acuity and optical ecobiometra IOL Master for calculating the intraocular lens to be implanted. The information was obtained from the database of the Integral Eye Institute (IOI) through an analysis of the medical history of each patient. Results: From a total sample of 190 eyes, 143 women and 47 men were included. Of the total of patients operated with the multifocal lens AcrySof IQ ReSTOR, 93.16% of patients did not require the use of optical glasses after surgery and 6.84% did so. Conclusions: According to the results of postoperative refraction in near and far vision, the multifocal lens AcrySof IQ ReSTOR proposal meets expectations, because most patients dispensed of the use of optical glasses.
