DRTP 2012-2013
For UAE nationals and other nationals
UAE Nationals are given priority for admission

Selection Criteria
1. To hold a Bachelor Degree in Medicine & Surgery or equivalent from a recognized university
listed with WHO.
2. To have successfully completed or about to complete a recognized one year of internship
program after finishing the bachelor degree.
a. Maximum of 4 years from the internship followed the bachelor degree without any
abruption in the duration.
b. Candidates should not have been out of clinical practice for one year or more.
3. To have evidence of professional English language Competency TOEFL=550 or above, IELTS =
Academic 6 or above.
a. USMLE, CS component of spoken English doesnt replace TOEFL or IELTS.
4. To pass Residency Selection Exam (Emirates Medical Specialist Training Entry Examination
(EMSTrEx)) conducted by Faculty of Medicine & Health sciences (FMHS) at UAE University,
AlAin.
a. The passing mark is 60% or above.
b. Residency Selection Exam (Emirates Medical Specialist Training Entry Examination
Certificate) is valid for 2 years only.
5. To have a valid passport copy.
6. Non GCC national candidates should have a valid UAE Residency Visa.
7. All Certificates should be attested

EMSTrEX will be held on the following dates :-

1. 25th February 2012

2. 17th March 2012
3. 06th April 2012

evidence on successful completion of Residency Selection Exam (Emirates Medical Specialist
Training Entry Examination (EMSTrEx)).

Documents required to be attached to your application form while applying for DRTP:
1. Valid Passport Copy.
2. Valid visa Copy (for non GCC nationals).
3. Updated CV.
4. Copy of Medical School Certificate. (the candidate must assure to provide MED with attested
copies of all certificates once accepted in the program)
5. Certificate of Completion of Internship or an official letter of internship completion.

6. Copy of English language competency Score (TOEFL or IELTS)

7. Copy of Residency Selection Exam (Emirates Medical Specialist Training Entry Examination
(EMSTrEx)) result.
