Aims of the course:

To communicate appropriately and effectively in speech and writing.

To understand and respond imaginatively to what they hear, read and experience.

To enjoy the reading of literature.

To arrive at a better understanding of themselves and others.


Attitudes to develop:
Students will be expected to:

line up properly and in silence during assembly and after the break.

be punctual to attend lessons.

have all the material they need for each lesson (their own book, booklet, dictionary,
folder, pencil box) before starting the class.

keep their folders complete.

be neat and tidy with their work and school uniform.

participate and show interest in class.

listen to one another.

address both teachers and peers respectfully.

do their homework and study for every lesson even if they were absent the previous
class.

speak English at all times.

go downstairs for their break.

make the effort to be the best learners they can be.

Library Reading:
Students will read a minimun of four books during the year. For each book they read, they
will hand in one classroom activity to reflect their understanding and opinion. They will also
be asked orally about the main characters, setting and plot. Students must have their
activities ready by the following dates:
