Walk Through Reflection:

The day I was in for an assistant principal that was out, I had the opportunity
to shadow the principal with three different walk-through. I was able to stay in a
classroom for 15 minutes at a time seeing different teaching styles. The concept is
to get a glimpse into the classroom. This will help the administration supervise the
instruction done in the classroom.
In the artifact you see the feedback form the staff member gets back after
the principal completes it. When an administrator walks into the classroom, they
may not see all of the planning and preparation. However you should be able to see
that the teacher has put time in planning the lesson. There should be an objective
on the board showing what the teacher and the students want to accomplish. The
classroom environment should show respect and high expectations. You will see this
by the classroom management skills and how the students are acting. Lastly you
should see instruction, the teacher should be giving clear directions to the students.
They should be encouraging student participation with the activities. You should
also see some form assessment whether it is formative or summative.
A walk through will give an administrator a quick look into the classroom. This
will help supervisor the instruction happing in the classroom. Giving feedback will be
very important to have the staff improve going to their summative observation.
