Twiducate

At login you will have to choose if you are a student or teacher.
Once logged in the site will be set up like social media that looks similar
to twitter but will be classroom related. You will be able to like, comment
on, and share the posts that the teacher and other students have made.
Depending on the grade level depends on what the teacher can post.
However, younger classes could use it for teacher parent communication
along with links to simple online reading. This could also be a location for
younger students to practice typing and interacting with the other
students. Another good use for this for younger children is to introduce
them to technology.
However, in middle school and up this tool would be easier to use within
the classroom. In the higher grades this could be a location for questions
about assignments, teachers could post discussion questions, links to
readings, and students could post their opinions about readings or
something within the class they learned about, and plenty of other stuff.
Positives about this tool:
1.) Online interaction between students and teacher in a classroom
friendly environment.
2.) Technology within the classroom and at home related to the
curriculum
3.) Social media like environment
4.) Quick way to have discussions from home
5.) Easy way for teachers to post information about class and
assignments
Challenges:
1.) Not everyone has a computer at home to access
2.) Some individuals do not like social media like environments
3.) Difficult to use for younger children
4.) Some students may not check the site regularly
5.) Topics posted by some students may not be classroom friendly
Positives:
Easy to use
Tiimelines look very polished
Interactive
Can be used for several different subjects
Challenges:
The process to start creating timeline is a little long
No ways to personalize the timelines created
Have to use month and day in the date box on timeline which can be a
tad difficult

using the tool
Kidblog
http://kidblog.org/home/
Create account based on if you are a teacher, student, or parent.
Once logged in teachers can design home pages after naming the class
and adding a description. Within that section the teacher can also edit
who views, who joins, who can comment, etc.
Once logged in students and parents can view the post they would like,
crate new post, personalize the post, and save it as a draft or publish it.
Before publishing it you have to choose who can view your post.
In younger grades teachers and students can use this to respond to
simple questions that were related to the lesson plan.
Around third grade students could start using this by writing post in
response to different topic they have talked about within the class.
In middle school Kidblog could be used to write papers about an
assignment or even answer questions that were related to the topic they
had been learning about.
Positives:
1.) Intro videos on how to use site
2.) A location for teachers, students, and parents to work together
3.) Teachers can control the privacy of the post they make and that
the students respond to
4.) Great way for students to connect technology and learning
Challenges:
1.) After free trial- membership will begin to cost
2.) Harder for the younger grade levels to use

are in the correct grade level you can choose different games to play.
In the class room this tool could be used to help introduce the lesson.
Depending on the game it could also review from a previous lesson.
Positives:
1.) Grades 1-5
2.) Wide selection
3.) Games are fast moving to keep students attention
4.) Can be accessed at home and at school
Challenges
1.) Monthly subscription required if advertisements are unwanted
2.) Selecting the correct games to go along with the lesson
3.) Not everyone has home access to the internet
