Lesson Plan Format

The lessons objectives (goals) and learning outcomes appropriate for meeting curricular and student
needs
Students will better understand the world of theatre and have the ability to identify roles, settings,
and discuss a dramatic presentation.

Assessment(s) before, during, and after the lesson
In class discussion, vocabulary, quizzes, one unit test and short paper. The students will also be work
on a musical of their own and taking a field trip to the Fabulous Fox to see the Lion King live!

Introduction using the opening clip of the Lion King musical.
Hit the highlights of vocabulary words, and being working on in class worksheet.
Groups discuss and complete the worksheet, and present their findings to the class.
Inform students of the field trip plan to attend the Lion King at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Teacher approach to helping students achieve the learning objectives (goals) and meet their needs
Most of our work will be done during class, full of class discussions and group projects. Every musical
is only as good as its cast, such as every class is as good as its students.
6. Learning Activities
Opportunities provided for students to develop knowledge and skills of the learning objectives
(goals)
Vocabulary, worksheets, in class activities and participation. The student will go on to perform their
own musical and have to opportunity to see the wonderful musical the Lion King.

YouTube Videos for examples, the use of prezi as a presentation aid, and the use of Kahoot and quizlet for review.

To help meet the needs of all learners, learning differences, cultural and language differences, etc.
Condensed worksheets, the help of student aids, and closed captioning for Oliver.
10. Classroom Management
Strategies consistent with the learning needs of the lesson that also meet student behavior needs to
help keep students on task and actively engaged
Keep students on task using the prize of attending the Lion King at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St.
Louis. Reminding them that bad behavior will result in the trip being taken away.
11. Extensions
Activities for early finishers that extend students understanding of and thinking about the learning
objectives (goals) by applying their new knowledge in a different way
Early Finishers will work on a musical of their very own! The student will have to outline the story
and theme of the musical. Then add important details of cast, setting, and presentation.
12. Follow-up to Todays Lesson
Quick activity for review or building on todays learning that will deepen student understanding and
interconnect concepts (may be incorporated tomorrow or throughout the unit)
With the help of kahoot we will review clips from musicals or plays, students must identify specific
parts and roles of the scene. We will also use all the information that we learned in our own
production of Wizard of Oz.
