Bir Nitish Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar-144001, Punjab, India nitishbir99@gmail.com The recent advances in technology have revolutionized the whole world. This advanced technology would serve its purpose properly only if it can cope up with issues including rising problems of pollution, global warming, discarding toxic waste products and decreasing reserves of fossil fuels and hence development of new technologies so that it would not hamper our surroundings. This led to the development of new era which is popularly known as Green Technology. Catalysis is one of the most important principles out of twelve principles of Green Technology. In recent years, nano-catalysis has become an emerging field of science due to its high activity, selectivity and productivity. The nanoscale size, shape and an exceptionally large surface area to volume ratio imparts unique properties to nano-catalysts because of the structural and electronic changes which differentiates them from the bulk materials. This paper mainly focused on fundamentals of green technology, understanding various aspects of nano-catalysis and its various properties and applications.
