ABSTRAK

Pengetahuan ibu tentang kesehatan gigi anak menjadi salah satu hal yang penting
di era sekarang ini. Pengetahuan ibu mengenai kesehatan gigi anak dapat dilihat dari
beberapa aspek yaitu pengetahuannya tentang penyebab masalah kesehatan gigi, akibat
dari masalah kesehatan gigi , perawatan gigi anak, pengaturan makanan serta waktu
memeriksakan gigi anak ke dokter gigi. Tingkat keparahan karies merupakan pengukuran
seberapa parah karies gigi pada anak dengan menggunakan indeks def-t. Tujuan
penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan ibu tentang kesehatan gigi
terhadap tingkat keparahan karies anak TK di kota Tahuna
Jenis penelitan ini adalah analitik dengan rancangan cross-sectional . Jumlah
sampel yang diambil dari beberapa TK di Kota Tahuna sebanyak 65 anak. Teknik
pengumpulan data mengunakan kuesioner dan lembar pemeriksaan def-t. Hasil penelitian
menunjukan pengetahuan ibu tentang kesehatan gigi anak di Kota Tahuna, kategori
pengetahuan ibu baik 93,8 % kategori pengetahuan ibu buruk 6,1 %. Pemeriksaan tingkat
keparahan karies gigi pada beberapa TK di Kota Tahuna kategori keparahan rendah 4,61
% , kategori keparahan sedang 26,1 %, kategori keparahan karies tinggi 60 % , kategori
keparahan sangat tinggi 9,23 %.
Dari hasil analisis menggunakan uji korelasi koefisien kontingensi didapatkan
hasil signifikansi 0,270 > p = 0,05 . Karena nilai lebih mendekati 0, maka hubungan yang
terjadi lemah. Hasil output diketahui bahwa signifikansi yaitu 0,270 lebih dari nilai p=
0,05 maka hipotesis 0 diterima, artinya tidak ada hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu
dengan tingkat keparahan karies gigi. Jadi, dari hasil uji statistik serta data yang
didapatkan disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang
kesehatan gigi anak dengan tingkat keparahan karies anak TK di Kota Tahuna.

ABSTRACT
Mother's knowledge about the dental health of children became one of the things
that are important in the current era. Mother's knowledge about the dental health of
children could be seen from some aspects such as knowledge of the causes of dental
health problems, as a result of dental health problems, child dental care, dietary and time
to check child teeth to the dentist.Def-t index is a measurement of the severity of dental
caries in children by. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of
mother's knowledge about the health of the teeth against dental caries severity of
kindergarten children in the town of Tahuna.
This type of research is analytic with cross-sectional design. Number of samples
taken from some kindergarten in the town of Tahuna many as 65 children. Data collection
techniques using a questionnaire and def-t examination sheet. Results showed the
mother's knowledge about the dental health of children in the city of Tahuna, category
knowledge of good mothers 93.8% poor maternal knowledge category of 6.1%.
Examination of the severity of dental caries in some kindergartens in the city of Tahuna
4.61% a low severity category, moderate severity category 26.1%, high severity category
60%, very high severity category 9.23%.
From the analysis using contingency coefficient correlation test showed
significance 0.270> p = 0.05. Because the value be closer 0, then the relationship is
weak. The output known that significance of which is 0,270 more than the value of p =
0.05 hypothesis 0 is received, means there is no relation between maternal knowledge
with the severity of dental caries. So, the results of statistical tests and data that it gets be
concluded that there is no relation between mother's knowledge about the health of your
child's teeth with caries severity of kindergarten children in the city of Tahuna.
